shimmering bridges [weekly beats 24, week 27] 

I could just kind of zone out under the shimmering bridge. Maybe play some drums and dance around too.
It was nice to have a couple days off of work for the independence day holiday. I jammed with percussion things, the mininova and circuit rhythm, then used that and slowly worked on this song. Then procrastinated finishing. Had many ideas for it, but let it just be this. Spent a few of those extra hours polishing up some old songs to release. Then wondered, what's the point? Remembered I like to have a project or ten. Goals. Makes me feel like moving onward. So polishing up some songs into an album can be a one of those goals. More importantly, some quality time with family. A heat wave arrived. Morning bike rides in the woods and paddles down the river. Saw a coyote trot by looking hot and wiley. Hawks being hawkish. We paddled under bridges and became enchanted with the reflection of the water shimmering on the underside, and the objects humans threw into the depths.
Oh yeah, but a real highlight of the week: My teenage son out of the blue asked me if I knew how to do vocal effects in Ableton. Ha, do I ever. I thought he'd never ask. He and his friend are making some beats. Like some melodic trap or something. I hope I get to help them a little, but they are learning on their own, and that is good.
