Very awesome tutorial and likely very much sought after by young artists. Hair, especially with manga/anime style, is our eternal enemy no.1. I use a very similar technique, difference is: I apply a first layer of the lightest color first and cover it completely, then I go from dark to light and always go with the lighter color over the darker. That blends it automatically. In the end I apply a last layer of the darkest color on top without blending and then white highlights, either acrylic ink (aerocolor) or gel pen for harsh highlights, or a white Polychromo for soft and not so bright highlights. In my profile picture, for example, it was only white ink highlights, as the hair is already kinda light.
I wonder, is the Dr. Martin’s ink able to be colored on top of without lifting it after it has dried? Like, pulling out highlights and then recoloring then if you’ve over darkened a place. This was a lovely tutorial, thank you so much for it!

Actually i don´t think you´re slow at all ^^' if i draw hair, it takes wayyyy longer. But i really like how smooth and silky the hair in your drawings look!
Do you think this technique would work with other alcohol based markers, say, Ohuhu brush markers? I have a few copics but I have Ohuhus so I'm wondering if you could get the same effect with a different marker
It works with every other alcohol based markers. They are all filled with ink made of alcohol and pigment (basically), just with different ratio. It will be slightly different though, also very much depending on the paper you use it on. You can even apply this technique on every other medium, as long as you know this medium well and remember the differences to markers.
