Glad I found your video! Not because it hepe me alot, but it confirmed all my theories that I'm having. I've been struggling with shin splints for 9 months since I started football again at the age of 38 (LOL) and what I found quite recently is that the solution is not massage, stretching etc, but to improve the range of stress I can put on my lower legs. Therefore, it just recently hit me, that I should perform plyometric training, because it is very similar to the motions of football. A lot of jumping, side forces on the lower legs etc. Been doing it for only 2-3 trainings so far, but the recovery time has been ALOT shorter already. My theory is also to do the excercises with low intensity at first, but increasing it along the path. Hopefully the curement is not only temporary, but persistent 🙂

Hello, yes I run around 20 to 25 mi. Per week. I'm 60 yrs old but fit. I first noticed when I showered as I would wash the area of medial tibial. It's been 3 months since I stopped running however I do stationary bike and squats ect.... I'm frustrated I even got custom made orthotics. I only feel it when I rub or palpatate hand in that area. I don't feel anything when I run or anything. I didn't want to risk getting a stress fracture. Not sure what to do. If you have any thoughts. Thanks!!

That was the best video on shin splits I’ve ever seen. I’ve been doing these exercises for 1 month, but when I spend too much time standing (like on a weekend cooking and cleaning all day), the pain returns, and it gets better with rest. When do you think I’ll be able to start the jumping exercises? When do I know I’m ready for this next step?

@milktea2422
@milktea2422 Год назад
For the last two weeks I’ve been having problems with my shins since I now go to uni and have to walk to my bus station, mind you it’s probably because I have to fast walk with very unforgiving flat shoes like converse or vans since I don’t usually give myself an extra minute or two to walk. But recently I started wearing alphabounces meant for running and I go at the same time, probably at the same speed and have almost no problems in my legs anymore. It also may have been because I was exercising everyday after being super inactive since I used to drive everywhere and stopped doing any exercise in general. Maybe it was an accumulation of working out more, then having four days of rest due to homework and getting proper sleep, which allowed my body to adapt to my new lifestyle of having to walk more

Great video, very professional compared to others. However, in my case of having lower leg pain, which I don't even belief is shin splints anymore, i have it for over 10 Years now and seeing multiple specialists-physios, osteopaths, orthopaedist I still didn't find the cure. It seems the problem became not with the edge of the bone, but the tendons and just the fascia laying down in multiple direction (posterior, anterior, lateral) tendons. The closest therapy of relief I found a guy with unorthodox style which he did visceral therapy of my gut basically and it goes away for like Two weeks or more ( just half an inch on the bone pain was left, but all other symptoms gone, better sleep and Training pain free). What would you recommend and do you have any theory why any rehab & rest don't work for me and what type of injury/disease is this?
@adammaik48
@adammaik48 2 года назад
Just to add this MRI, USG, X-Ray didn't show nothing pathological.
@E3Rehab
@E3Rehab 2 года назад
A "cure" may not exist. Pathoanatomical diagnoses and imaging findings aren't always necessary for rehabilitation. For example, imaging is not required for MTSS except to rule out other conditions like a suspected stress fracture. Also, as I mentioned in the video, shin splints aren't well understood and there's no definitive research on how to treat them. However, I created this framework based on the population who most often gets shin splints - runners. My recommendation would be to work with a physio who can help you identify your goals and reverse engineer a plan to meet those goals. In most cases, it's unlikely that there will be a "flip of the switch" regarding symptoms and function. Social media has led us to believe that there's a quick fix for everything, but that's rarely the case. I hope this does not come as negative as it's meant to be sincere. Best of luck, Adam.
