My addiction started to come into full swing when this song came out. I remember I had just stolen pain pills from my disabled father. I took all of them and laid on my bed crying. It took me 10 years of rock bottom but I’ve been clean for 6 years this Christmas!❤

It takes shitty lows to show you where you'd rather be in life sometimes. Can relate to you as Ive been addicted since I was 11 years old due to having a traumatic injury to my leg and getting Percocet and having a grandmother who didn't monitor my bottle, and watching my dad do and sell all kinds of drugs growing up. I'm turning 20 this year and since the first time I tried the pills 9 years ago I haven't been able to stop. My DOC was Xanax but I would do anything from whatever pill to ice/white girl or some dog food literally just whatever I could find. I've overdosed 6 times and my life is in pieces rn due to drugs. I've got nowhere near as much clean time as you but am proud to say I've put everything (including the xans which I thought was impossible) down and been sober for 2-3 months. As addicts whether it be in recovery or active addiction we all gotta support each other in hopes to all meet the goal of recovery. So although I don't know you in the slightest, I am proud of you and the accomplishments you've achieved, it takes someone with courage to admit when they've fucked up and recognize that they need help so I 100% commend you on every part of your recovery. Keep thriving

I grew up in the 60s and 70s.i suffered wounds when I was in the U.S.Army. But my addiction came way late.The VA cut off my pain meds because the public said they shouldn't give us anything addictive. So some of us were left out in the cold. So I decided to go to the street for heroine. I was on it for a little over 10 years. It became pure he'll. I'm sure you can feel me. But the same people that gave me the pain pills ( of VA) offered me help. They gave me suboxone. And I'm on it to this day. I've been on it for almost 2 years. Anyway if you're feeling blue. Music have saved my life. Listen to Disturb (The Light) Hope you're doing fine now. ❤😮

I did like a ptsd therapy exercise once where I literally walked in a hallway in my mind and as I kept going it was getting darker and darker there was less and less exits until finally I was just trapped ... it came with such a state of panic , loneliness, and hopelessness ... I've been clean from heroin and meth a year now and life couldn't be better but the lyrics hit and give me chills. Praise God

When I was deep in my addiction, I’d sit in my car listening to Shinedown’s “Save Me” and sob. I saw no way out. I just celebrated 14 years clean. I come back to listen to this song from time to time just to remind myself of where I came from and just to be grateful. This song did save me in my worst times and I never forget that.

I was a drug addict for over 25 years I've been clean damn near 3 years now. I once believed that I was worthless and unable to change and not even worthy of happiness. Every single day that passed since the first day has taught me how to love and appreciate myself through a lot of self-reflection I remember when I thought I would never be free now I realize that I put myself inside My Own Prison so just because you can't see your future don't be afraid of it because if a fuk up like me can do it so can you. If you don't believe in yourself just know from somebody who's been in your shoes that I believe in you and know that you are stronger than you believe. Have faith in yourselves because we all know deep down inside we are the only people that we can depend on make sure you can depend on yourself and it will lead to your freedom..this song has been detrimental on getting me through the days that pull my mind back slowly in a direction I don't want to ever go back to and Never will again

@@laurenemond694 I think you should grab all the benadryl you have and fill the pill bottles with soap, vinegar, and water. Then go to rehab. Going to rehab might seem embarrassing, but everyone's usually really nice and supportive. You'll come out feeling like a new person. I hope it helps.

To anyone listening to this song thats battling addiction, just know your not by yourself. I had a terrible opiate addiction for 10 years and made it through it. It was one of the hardest things ive been thru but damn it was worth it. Just kerp pushing, one day at a time. I found this saying somewhere and its resonated with me every since. "Addiction is giving up everything for one thing" "Recovery is giving up one thing for everything " stay strong everybody!!!

Agreed, I’m autistic and dealing with addiction. I keep going back and forth with my addiction and struggle in loud bright environments, I put on my noise canceling AirPods and just listen to this as this song describes so much of my addiction and pain. Thank god for Shinedown.

I was a junkie for around 10 yrs . Started with Vicodin and percs for the first half , than I moved on to the harder pills .. opanas , fentanyl and Subutex , as I fought with trying to get clean i relapsed several times .. I would listen to the song everyday while driving and it would bring tears to run down like crazy because I wanted to be saved so bad . I then finally asked Jesus to help me get away by promising I'd never do them again. July 11th 2022 makes one year I've been clean with absolutely no relapsing , but with a handful of temptations throughout . . I thank the Lord for helping me , myself for being committed, and this song for making me understand I needed help cause I couldn't do it alone .

Jesus the holy trinity saved me too. I thought I was the only one that experienced this miracle. I was heavily addicted to free base crack cocaine. After deep meditation praying to be healed a wave of radiated heat lasted for I can’t tell you how long (I didn’t open my eyes but kept them shut. I was healed no yearning no looking dir my next hit totally healed. Almost 35 years later and still healed brother all the best to you. Peace out!

Ive known this songs lyrics word for word since it came out and i always thought of my dad battling his addiction and finally giving up and found his peace at 45. He became a pastor and he was at so much peace. Now as im writing this im come to the point where im dealing and battling my own addiction and but have come to realization that im done and have reached out. Im a very hard headed ego, driven street guy who has always had tough guy mind but now im in full blown tears cause i know i have become what i always said i would never become. A monster not just to myself but my kids and wife. She is ready to hold my hand into this batttle im going to go to war against. Im a broken man who is ready to pick up the pieces.

I was crying at the park, I was whispering to myself for someone to save me, I felt like I couldn't move I cried the way home still mumbling for someone, anyone I knew to save me, I just wanted to leave, I wanted to stop being me, I was hoping some of my friends were online, anyone but to no avail so I just ended up typing into google "Save me" I was hoping anything would show up, someone, but I got this song, I was upset at first but I decided to listen to it anyways, I do not regret, after crying for an hour, I do not regret listening to this song

I remember 5 years ago listening to this song, I was so strung out on pills, I had lost control. Now I've been clean & in recovery for almost 4 years. It's crazy to listen to this song & remember how low I was. What a different person I was. I was so depressed. I don't think I'll ever forget the feeling. It's possible to get clean. Shinedown is absolutely amazing! 14 years ago I finally succeeded in giving up a massive addiction to snorting heroin, plus occasionally using powder cocaine or crack . This song reminds of how I felt, "Somebody save me, please don't erase me!" I even gave up cigarettes 6 months later. For those out there getting clean, or want to-you can do it!!

I've been crying for four hours because I've been clean for 6 or 7 months. Meth and I relapsed. And it's tearing me apart but this song is helping every time I hit reply and sing it louder or switch to the acoustic. I actually was thinking of making the first song my band sings. That way I'll always know why I need to stay sober. So I never end up begging for help bleeding, bruised, battered and torn again.

This song reminds me of my ex wife. When i was struggling she saved me. Gave me an ultimatum. She said quit your job, and lose your loser friends or i am leaving you. That was the wake up call i needed. 11 years later we are separated but i will never be an addict again. Still love that woman!!

+job bridges Thanks for sharing your comments. Hatebreed is actually the name of a band -- a hardcore metal band from CT -- which I'm a huge fan of (and 19 being my lucky #). But some of what you mentioned is in fact true. I deal with a lot of disappointment in my life & my emotions run deep so a lot of times that is where the 'hate' comes from. But I can tell you that I LOVE & have PASSION for many things and people (only a few) far more than I HATE when it comes to LIFE & all it has to offer. There may be lot of tragedy, ugliness & disgust in this world, mainly in humanity, but there's also a lot of beauty, laughter & joy to sometimes balance it out. Guess it all depends on the day and my mood I'm having...which direction I decide to turn to more. Thanks again for sharing. April 1 2016, i flushed away all my drugs, I lost 9 years hooked on oxy and fentanyl, take the pain not the drugs, i lost everything in those 9 years, starting over now.

Diaconus wow. I just quit taking oxy and fent patches on October 24 after my body became addicted after a motorcycle accident. I ripped the patch off and stopped taking the oxy and went through hell for a solid month, the mind clarity that I have now makes me extreemly sad for the past yrs I've been trapped. I wish you nothing but the best and yes, the pain is horrible I know, but not worth that pharmaceutical legal heroin! never thought I'd find a comment like this on one of the songs from my teenage years. Congrats and may the peices fall into place!
