Onew, the leader of the group, is the one with the "non-typical" kpop tone. I'm not sure exactly what to call his technique, but it's more like a belt/musical theater style than operatic. SHINee is a 5 (FIVE) member group who debuted in 2008 from SM entertainment which is the biggest company out of the big three. Members are Onew (1989), Jonghyun (1990), Key (1991), Minho (1991) and Taemin (1993). You will see that the videos made before the end of 2017, there are five members physically. In December 2017, we lost member Jonghyun to depression... The whole kpop industry came to a halt for awhile and after much thinking, SHINee decided to continue on as a group to continue the SHINee legacy and to stay strong together. This strengthened the brotherhood of all members together. SHINee has emphasized many times as well as Shawols that they will always be 5 and ARE 5. Even though he may not be here in person, he is and will always be our shining light. Some quick and brief facts below: - they are labeled, earned and known as the Princes of Kpop and the Kings of Live Performances (CDnee because their live performances and stages are unmatchable and flawless!) - they debuted with two members who is considered to be two of the greatest vocalists and artists to set foot on the kpop stage ; Onew and Jonghyun // when they debuted, Taemin was only 14. Taemin is now regarded as one of the highly respected idols and ARTIST of all time because of his music and dancing. // Minho as one of the greatest visuals of all time, known widely to be in the industry as top 3 most competitive idols especially in sports, has released a few solo songs and has acted in a few. // Key is also very admired upon especially in his fashion which has continuously exceeded boundaries and widening the perspectives of the people. He is also very good in reality and variety shows with his exuding charisma and sense and has acted in a few dramas as well. - definitely paved and widened the path for KPOP as they bought a large majority of fans of KPOP into KPOP and also are the inspirations and dreams of many current idols right now which is a majority of the industry. SHINee is very very highly respected and looked up upon by many. - when they first debuted, they received little to no promotion from the company because they were an experimental group which the company thought would flop but instead, they won many awards and end of year awards the same YEAR. Their CEO himself said when he created SHINee, he wanted to see what would happen if he filled the group with only the best of the best... The best vocalists, best dancer, rap/visuals and unique sense and figure. - they were the first ever to make colorful outfits and skinny jeans a thing thus influencing the fashion industry especially in kpop a lot AND the first ever to introduce and popularize the idea of dance practices. If you watch their older reality shows, almost all of their shows mention about how they opened up and paved the way in the industry for unique stylistic choices and introducing such outfits to the kpop world. It is well known that the music the group produces and presents are unexpected as they don't have a specific theme and concept. Everyone knows as a fact that SHINee is the trend and is their own genre! Expressed by many Koreans, artists, professional produces/writers, shows etc etc. Definitely check out the new video called "What Makes SHINee Scared?" which music producers and songwriters interview SHINee about their own music, colour and their opinion. - whenever new concepts were to arise and new shows, SHINee was always the first one to execute it as they were the 'experiment' group. Their discography is their own unique SHINee flavour and they don't stick to one concept as shown through their releases. - SHINee's fans are called Shawol (SHINee World) - this fandom is the originators of the Canon cameras. They were widely known as "Canon Goddess" because they popularised the use of big heavy cameras to take photos of their idols which we now see prominent today. Shawol is also widely known among the industry as one of the most peaceful fandoms of all time.

This song was about their sasaengs (crazy obsessed fans), who buy their private information such as passport and phone numbers etc. They call them constantly, which is also why they change numbers all the time (which is also why some members of the same group, doesn't have their members numbers) They even go as far as entering their hotel rooms and apartments - even while they sleep. They hire taxis for a whole day to hunt down the idols they obsess over - which has caused a lot of car accidents.

The guy you said it doesn't "sound like a kpop voice" it's called Onew and he is one of the best vocalists in the world, he is capable of singing opera like he's no making effort. For real, BOY CAN SING! You should react to his vocals, but honestly, SHINee it's a group of real mothafucking SINGERS with caps because well...
