I've had shingles several times, also! Three times on my side and twice on my face, and it is the worst. We have had a lot of similarities in our Lupus, so I completely relate to your videos. I love how positive you are with everything you deal with, and I just wanted to send you some love and support from Virginia Beach!

I'm 37 now but got shingles twice by the age of 23. I have so many degenerative diseases despite living a healthy lifestyle, eating well (all organic) and cut out numerous food sensitivities. I have done much research in these years reviewing peer reviewed articles by very credible Doctors. I believe there is a correlation between early age shingles and mitochondrial disease. Testing for this is quite rigorous and sometimes you'll get a false negative diagnosis so if you want to get tested do your homework and find someone whom specializes in the field of mitochondrial disease. I would hate for anyone to have to go through the pain I feel daily and early intervention is very important as this is a deadly disease. All love, Tyler

i know the feeling I am suffering with shingles at the moment. Im currently on a antiviral called (Aciclovir) i wish it go away i'm so depressed about it. coming here though makes me feel like i'm not alone. Thanks for the video shingles is ridiculously horrible though.

I got it 70 years old and felt young until now Didn't know much about shingles ! Parents lived through wars and lived till 92 with no anything !valtrex but couldn't handle prednisone . ER sent me home with prescription and mentioned nothing to give me clarity or follow up I'm waiting and inuring! It spread to my back tonight! How nice! I know this was an old clip but I am here because I am pretty sure I have shingles. I am 51 years old. I have had this issues for the past about three years. About three times a year. The itching is driving me crazy. I have no meds for this and never have. God bless the good doctors. I have it now. Third time this year already. Tired all the time...all the time. Gets so bad that my skin will break open. That kind takes so long to heal. Sometimes I never get well, I just get a period where the pain is less... I have shown several doctors and they tell me that I am sweating and maybe have thrush. Whatever it is I just pray my skin doesn't open. I haves lupus, Sjogrens, Fybromialgia, RA, and some organs affected by this stuff. I don't do much because I am not being treated and do not want anybody getting sick. You know all this stuff and that specialist said there was nothing wrong with me at all. My hand doctor, physical therapist and friends help me through. O.K. Now I know I need to get in and try to see somebody. Right now I take pain pills because that is all I have. The methotrexate makes me physically ill. Once again you helped me. I can't soak because my apartment only has a shower. Can anybody help me out there?

25 male. Shingles on forehead and hoping it stays there. One thing to know, shingles on the face is painful. Not because of the rash. oh no no no... It is because it attacks your cranial nerves making you feel these sharp head paints as if your hung over all day. Anyone with shingles on the head region could relate.

I’m a 75 year old lady my name is Fiona I can not get rid of the pain from shingles , it’s been 44 days since I got it .. and now I have residual pain just as painful as when I had the rash and sores . I have nerve damage ,and it’s so painful . It’s the worst pain ever . I hope you get to feeling much much better , you are so very pretty , I have two daughters that are in their 50s , I hope neither of them get this .i hope both you ,and I get better soon this is not fun at all .. Ive been shot. I stepped on a large stingray and took its stinger 3 inches into my heel. I had a high pressure steam line break and cooked my private parts. The shingles ive had for 3 weeks is worse than all of them, combined. Not sure how much more i can withstand. Havnt slept more than an hour consecutive in nearly a month. This has got to end soon.

Not sure how I came across this but anyway, I had shingles a couple years ago. Mid 50s, worst pain I ever had in my life. And I've had serious surgeries over a motorcycle accident and those injuries didn't compare to the pain I felt from shingles. Three trips to the emergency room in a week, nothing they can do for you except prescribe pain meds. Pain meds definitely helped, I was taking them around the clock every hour. Took about three weeks to get better. And a couple months for all the scars to go away. It went from like my chest under my arm around to the middle of my back... the s*** was horrible! Peace to anyone going through this. Just know in a couple weeks you'll be better.

Had shingles 4 times this year, have it right now and it keeps moving. Im 48 and also have lupus. Hope your feeling better.

45, 1st time, diagnosed today, doc say I've got it pathology results tomorrow to confirm. Strong muscular pain in upper right should to neck yesterday afternoon and night, slight irritaion for last 6 days on lower neck inline with shoulder blades almost. Small coin size flaky skin legion discovered today in same zone with a burning needle sensation coming and going and at times today. 500mg paracetamol with 30mg codeine tablets keeping thing in check also with Advantan cream. i fully understand this. i had shingles when i was 16 and and coming down with it again. no vaccine until age 60. best thing to do is destress to avoid breakouts, keep it dry, keep covered.

I am 71 & got shingles on my scalp, head & eye. If that wasn’t bad enough, I now am dealing with Post Herpetic Neuralgia. It is SOOOOO painful! It’s been several weeks now & the experts say it could last for Va months or years!!!

32 female with SLE LUPUS. I started losing vision significantly and very quickly, developed discoid rashes to go with my malar, had a bad flair and the cherry on top is shingles 🍨yay. they are in my scalp (hair falling out fun) chest, neck, back and face. my eyes are being affected too. didn't even know I was so susceptible to shingles.

I ve had shingles 4 times in 5 years, after the 2nd outbreak the dr found i had stage 4 melanoma in a different place. Wondering if lowered immune system allows out of control cytokines to go haywire.

I've had it 3 times in the past year. I'm 31. I had no idea that get recurring shingles was a thing until I got it for the 3rd time recently and asked my doctor about why I keep getting it.

I am 22. Today I went to the doctor for a "rash". Turns out I have shingles. This is my first time. It started out on my right side, beside my spine and shoulder blade. Itsching itchitng itching for a week. And on Monday night (6-8-15) I felt of it, and I felt a bump. So Tuesday (6-9-15) I asked my boyfriend to check it out and he said it was a rash so I called my doctor and today(6-10-15) she had confirmed that it was indeed shingles. My symptoms are itching, fever, chills, sore around the area where I'm broke out in. And I do believe I will break out where my arm pit and right boob meets because it's very sore and itching like my back did. The doctor said it will more than likely wrap around since I'm experiencing pain and itching there. Now as far as my pain level right now, from 1-10 (10 being the worst ) my pain is at 5. Its tender to the touch. Hope this helps. Stay strong! It doesn't last forever!!

I’m 42 and I believe I’ve only had it one so far and I have RA. I have a pretty high tolerance for pain but the itchiness is the worst for me.

Im now 33 I had shingles since I was 15 and just about every years since I had at least one breakout or more a year. I can honestly count the times I haven't had shingles on one hand. Warm baths help a little, especially if you use peppermint oil taking vitamins like L-Lysine HCI and vitamin C together, which helps your immune system, do alot to prevent worse breakouts. Funny enough, losing weight helps alot having this horrible disease so often doesn't help my mental health, which leads to depression but keeping a healthy and relativity easy workout regiment does a lot to keep depression away.

Im 31. Just got shingles out of nowhere. First time. Not sure where it came from. Most likely, stress. I work hard and probably just overdid it. The rash is on my back and right arm. I Got chills and a flu-like feeling. However, I am getting better slowly. Joints still hurt, just wanna lay down all the time. Kinda depressing. Can't wait until its over!

Tea tree oil and olive LEAF OIL works for the itch and pain

I just found out yesterday the rash I went in complaining about thinking It's a spider bite is actually shingles. Completely blew my mind. I'm 36 yo with a very descent life style and throughout the past month working out and getting in shape so to my surprise they tell me this. Luckily It's a small patch on my back about 2.5" in diameter and one in my right chest about an inch in diameter. The one on my back feels itchy and the one on my chest felt like a knife slicing through my skin in that small spot. They have me on ACYCLOVIR 800 mg tablets. So far it seems like the one on the back is clearing up and the one in the front a bit too. What I'm more worried about is actually why my immune system is low? I mean i feel fine. I’ve had shingles more than once, yes you can get it again! Then I got what’s called pst hermetic neuralgia or PHN. It’s the nerve pain of shingles without the outbreak. The antiviral medication I can’t use as I’m allergic to it. Doing homeopathic things to build up my immune system. I eliminated sugar, dairy, gluten & I take supplements such as L-lysine. My pain is mostly in my back so I also use Lidocaine patches & it calms the nerves down. Eat healthy & stay off drugs.

My mom has shingles and she went to the hospital three times before it showed up. My mom was experiencing deep pain and put a cream to help. The next day she got it on her back. My cousin and her father got it around their eyes.

I havé lupus too was just diagnosed with shingles. I have horrible rash on rt side of my neck, chin, ear, shoulder, torso, i also have the worst pain anyone could experience.

27 and have my first go around. SO confused since I eat extremely healthy, work out, and am completely sober for almost two years! I'm going to think stress from events of this year ended up pushing it out. It hasn't gotten that bad and it's been about a week. I am not taking any medicine for it.... I've been putting Bragg's apple cider vinegar mixed with water, lemon essential oil, and tea tree essential oil on it twice a day. Coconut oil after I apply the vinegar. I also took an epsom salt/baking soda/lemongrass bath which helped a lot. I'm taking extra vitamin C. It hasn't spread or got any worse...so I'm keeping my fingers crossed! Crazy pain in the middle of my back though. It blows. I've been taking three 500 mg aspirin in the morning and it usually helps me throughout the day. Oddly enough, working out keeps my mind off it.

My mom thought it was a spider bite but never took me to dr. My first episode was one of my worst.Years passed. Age 20 and 23 actual blister break outs as well. I have had several blister break outs in the past 5 years but recently this year just the pain no blisters. I am recently dealing with a long drawn out episode now. No blisters. But migraines and numbness on my right side. As well as sharp burning pains. Mostly migraine fatigue. I tale apple cider vinigar and ask our Heavenly Father for healing. I've got them on the front of my right shoulder right now. It isn't very severe, but still painful nonetheless. First time I was diagnosed with shingles, I had it on the inside of my right thigh at the age of six. I've never had the chickenpox, but somehow managed to get shingles. This will be the second time that I'm having to deal with this virus. It's pretty sucky.

I am 21 was diagnosed on August 2, 2012 that I have Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE). I had shingles one time in middle of December for three weeks and it was very pain full and itchy. The doctor did not catch it until the fifth day because he thought I had muscle spasms, up until the lesions started showing. But all in all I hope to not get it again and hopefully you don't get it again and that you feel better. ^-^

I am 28. I have lupus,crest, and rheumatoid arthritis. I was just diagnosed with shingles on monday aug. 25 the morning of my sons first day of school. Wouldnt wish this pain on anyone.

I got them about 2 weeks ago and they are just now starting to dry up. I am 51. Never had them before. I didn't realize you could get them over and over. Ugh. This is so painful. It doesn't itch at all, it just burns so badly. I believe it got it from stress or because I keep getting cortisone shots because of my L4-L5 fusion surgery which didn't work and I am always in pain. The shingles started right at L4-L5 (I had just gotten a shot of cortisone a week prior in my spine) and the band wraps around to my stomach. I am using Salonpas 4% lidocain patches which helps ALOT with the burning. They just kind of hurt when you peel them off. CVS has a great cool pack called Peas.

Well, I am 64 and I guess that it is just my time to suffer through this.I am so sorry for the pain that you are suffering at such a young age.Yes, it hurts very badly but I have lived through worse. I find that the constant pain causes personality changes in that I am not as tolerant and very easily upset. I think a person has to live through this to understand it. I just want to say that I would give you all of my tomorrows if I could only take all of your pain away. I have a friend with Lupus and it is not easy. Good luck.

I’m 30, my doctor said what i have is chickenpox, but i already had chickenpox. I think it is shingles, because i have immense nerve pain on my left shoulder. having trouble finding a good doc. Though the rashes been cleared a month, but still there is feverish, fatigue and nerve pain.

37, 1st time, came on because of stress. Long story short I have it in clusters, and new ones are popping up everyday. I might have to go into the ER to try and get mine under control.

I'm 17, first time with shingles and it's so painful. The rash wraps around from my spine to my sternum on my left side. Started out with muscle pain and I thought I had cracked a rib or something and then the rash showed up the next day. Doctors got me on some painkillers and antibiotics but the rash is still spreading. Hopefully it clears up soon and the pain stops because it's almost unbearable.

I have shingal for the first time its really painful but what's more painful about it is that I can't hold my 4 month baby girl I'm 32 years holds thank god I have s husbands that's a good dad

You are not alone. I have had shingles now since March 25th, when I got the first symptoms. It spread to my arm and now to my face. I got a shingles rash on my mouth and cheek and it hurts so bad. I take vicodin to kill the pain, but this is the worst thing that ever happened to me.

OMG this was the most painful thing EVER !!!! i had them on my face ! worst pain ever.. anyways after the blisters started to dry.. I have rheumatoid arthritis some of my prescription I'm on humera n methotrexate I'm38 n just got shingles so much pain n redness, swelling n yes itching like crazy caught it @ 3day went to Dr. But still spreading hopefully I won't get blisters started upper thigh now all of back leg n bottom yes bottom of foot ra specialist recommended to stop all of rheumatoid prescriptions so much pain n more pain wasn't planning on using stronger pain medication but had too take it n still doesn't help,tried baby wash for soothing relief n no perfumes or chemicals instead of regular soap helped a little but sucks I still cry n I'm still working 😖

I am getting shingle now and I am 29 years old. It got so severe within 5 days that my entire left cheek and my left forehead was filled with blisters and a deep red patch. My eye and left upper lips are entirely swollen. I have absolutely NO IDEA how I got Shingles. Never had any past illnesses before except taking Accutane for severe acne. I am not sure if Accutane causes Shingles. I am currently hospitalised because the swelling is so bad and my entire face is filled with unsightly pus. The pain is excruciatingly. I wonder what causes the spontaneous outbreak. Currently on acyclovir 800mg 5 tablets a day and antibiotic treatment.

I'm 28 and just found out I had shingles. currently they are from my nose and up towards the left part of my skull. Currently in very minor pain. only pain I have is a dark scab on my nose and moderate pain above my eye that makes it feel like a hangover. I was prescribed cephalexin 500mg x3 daily and valacyclovir 1GM ×3 daily as well. it's nice to see I'm not alone seeing as I thought I was still too young to get them. hopefully this all goes away. I hate looking like this :(

I am 38. I have lost track of how many times I’ve had it. I don’t understand why. It’s on my forehead. I’ve had it maybe 7 times…?? Have it now.

My 6 and a half year old daughter was just diagonised with shingles today :'( she's in so much pain. Its on her side and she has one huge blister and a few smaller ones. She was giving meds for infection as the regular meds to treat shingles are to strong for her tiny body(she's 47 lbs and 43 inches) I wish it happened to me instead if her as she also has sensory processing disorder and meds is one of the things she gags bad on.

Im 21 and just found out i have shingles today. The rash formed on the right side of the middle of my back and now is starting to form under the right side of my chest. The rash under my chest is very small and that's when i decided to seek treatment. Now on Acyclovir 400mg x5/day for a week & ibuprofen for pain if needed . Also taking apple cider vinegar orally/topically. It tastes so bad lol but hopefully this depresses the pain. Haven't felt any burning/ tingling sensations yet. Kinda freaked out after doing some research but at this point i should only stay positive regardless.

29- I have shingles I started this summer , what triggered it was a scrape on my knees that became infected so I had to take antibiotics but had an allergic reaction to it so switched antibiotics then developed a kidney infection more antibiotics basically my immune system was low by then and all of the sudden I started with numbeness on one of my legs then scattered bumps that looked like chicken pox but at first it started with single one on my hands and fingers, it cleared but then I felt a lot of pain on my left side and now I have a rash on my left side of my torso . not fun at all.

I'm 24 this is my first time I only have 4 bumps and they Dont itch but I do have extreme abdominal pains its undescribably painful I try to block it out and can't stay focused because working at UPS is very rigorous ....I hope to never go through this again when its gone

47, 2nd time, First time was work stress not sure why this time. Joint pain, pain from cluster, heat radiating off cluster. So far only one cluster. The pain from this cluster never really left from the other one.

my parents claim I never had chicken pox and now i was diagnosed with shingles. how is that possible?

19yr old female with EDS and first time with shingles...I have it on my right hip, spread to the lower back and also the pubic area....pants are a serious discomfort right now :( Im terrified how shingles can reoccur, because I always have a low immune system and an anxiety condition....Im in so much pain, it's attacking my lower back muscles, causing them to spasm, I've been sweating then having chills, and it feels like hot needles are being pressed into my skin. But they aren't itchy at least.

I'm 21 and don't have any official diagnosis of something other than it is definetly autoimmune. I've had shingles twice once in mid 2011 and the second time in early 2012.

I woke up with shingles rash yesterday. And I don't have any chronic illnesses or anything like that as far as I know and if I do I'm just going to pretend that I don't because I already have enough stress in my life but anyway it's just a really small patch under my left breast but the back pain is pretty intense and I'm feeling pretty drained I reallydidn't know you could get bells palsy from it oh God I hope that doesn't happen to me I would literally not be able to handle that

I'm 23 and just got shingles for the first time. The rash is behind my ear, on the left back side of my head, and near my jawline. Day 2 of 800mg acyclovir 5 times daily for 1 week. Really hoping it clears up soon ugh

I'm 44. I had the shingles last summer on the left side of my chest. It was during the same time as when my face was opened with lesion from that medication. My face hurt so bad it made the shingles less noticeable... I don't know if this was a good thing or bad thing lol... I was already on Acyclovir so they upped my dose and had me cut up Lidocaine patches and place it next to the outbreak...not on top of it.

Mine is healed up but the pain still sucks, like WTF it’s like the worst sun burn with road rash on top with a ice pick every once in a while and a cat on my back with claws. So much fun does it go away?

I'm 18 and just today got diagnosed with shingles. It's on my left hand and I'm getting every single symptom, it itches and hurts.. Joint pain seriously everywhere, head aches and I'm super tired. I've had chicken pox twice and next week they are testing me for an auto immunity problem(i think that's how you spell it) since I was 16 I've been sick a lot all the time and doctors can't find out why.. I'm miserable! So finding this out today and being in so much pain... I've never had joint pain like this before.. Does getting the shot help reduce the risk even if you've had it before??

Heyy... Im turning 23 next month and this is my first time getting shingles! I never had it before.. was kinda freakedout when i got it .. first thought it was a allergic reaction!! (never had that before either). I don't have anything.. but when before i got shingles , i was coughing up mucus.. so that must of caused it..(weak immune system). I only went to the doctors on the fourth day so they couldn't really do anything! I got the chills and had a headache the other day .. there healing now..(scabbing) its my 7th day of having them.. and i really hate them! lol...

I didn't see the shots of it. I think imight have had a shingles rash llast year. I have never had chicken pox tho. I notice this one type of rash on my left side that is painful to touch and itchy. And ijust know not to touch it. I will go to drnext time.

My first bout was finals my freshman year of college. It was on my eyelid and it was misdiagnosed 3 times before they actually found out what it was. It got so bad on my eyelid that it actually got into my eye and I actually have permanent vision damage in that eye. I get them almost every year around this time and they are ALWAYS on my face. I don't think they are overly painful, but on my face they don't get irritated by clothing which I'm sure helps. I actually have it in and under my left nostril at the moment. Sucks.
