This game was at my church for the longest time. I never was able to get farther than the big cutscene at the beginning except for one time, when I got to the first village. Fuck, this music was amazing though. LOVED IT!
Almost sounds like a boss battle theme, well that's what I thought at my first play of it. Motoi Sakaruba did a great job on this track as well as others.
Thanks for uploading I do still have a sega saturn and this game! But probably never gonna play it again but I just loved the music from this game it was way ahead of its time I think and a big inspiration for me making music
Have there been any other games made with same style of this game since it came out? The whole game being in block steps and first person always seemed to make each maze way more intense since you knew at every corner you would get attacked and then even on straight sections you might get attack from below/above/in-front. Constantly trying to trigger the right kinda Pixie also helps to tense up dungeons since you only had two seconds to select the right one and trigger it. Shining in the Darkness and Phantasy Star 4 were both similar in combat but the summons and Critical attacks (physical type and magical type as well) were massively improved in this game. The Djinn system in the Golden Sun series is pretty neat but it always felt a little weird to me, gimmicky I guess would be the word for it... but it still has some of the best music on handhelds. Try a game on the Japanese Sega Saturn called Dragon Master Silk....But nah...Still doesnt come close to the greatest that is this game....Its kind of like SITHA will all anime chicks and it has the block step first-person style
Did you know gaming did a Shin Megami Tensei series video today. Apparently a bunch of the older games in the franchise were FPDC's. Most didn't get translated but I'll look into these as well.

I really and truely wish for a new "Shining+" that isn't a new shining force offshoot that sucks monkeypeen0r, but a true JRPG like Shining in the Darkness and Shining the Holy ark. I can probably wish into one hand and crap into the other and have a pretty good idea of which hand fills up first, but hey. A guy can dream.
This is... Golden Sun!?! oh! wait! a counterpart from it! i had no idea the Shining saga was related to Shining Resonance Refrain, i though the game i was playing was a totally a new IP but inspired by Tales Of Series, this is not a coincident :v
Shining Resonance Refrain has nothing to do with the Camelot Shining games or Golden Sun. Shining Resonance was not by Camelot. Sega ditched Camelot in 1998 so they went to Nintendo to make Golden Sun and Mario sports games. So Sega had to compensate with idiots who never touched the series. Shining Resonance is an insult to the franchise.
Yes, you're allowed to rip of your own style but golden sun is pretty much exactly the same visually down to the sound effects and menus even. I love that though so woo.
This game was made by Sonic Software Planning, who later became Camelot, the ones who made Golden Sun. Also they have the same composer. You could say this game was something of a precursor to Golden Sun.
