And if it’s a second later, the door snaps and welds itself shut. Edit: Just realized I legit said the same thing but more extreme, so just a note, I meant “later” not “earlier”.
Wait a minute. That would theoretically be impossible unless someone else cranks that Soulja Boy for them. The Soulja Boy door will always play the song even if you have put mufflers on everyone else. It also takes a longa$$ time to complete, giving you plenty of time for discovery and hence failure.
i think my favorite part is how they patiently wait and don't shift or move at all and just sit there waiting as though this isn't taking 4 ish minutes
i've been harassed by everyone on discord cause my username is shinji and they all kept saying "shinji crank that soulja boy" Edit: 1K LIKES HOLY SHIT Another Edit: IT HAS BEEN 8 FUCKING MONTH STOP FUCKING DOING THAT I'M GOING INSANE
Shinji: cranking that soulja boy till the very end - a real trooper. Asuka: waiting with determination till the door is fully open - a real trooper. Rei: gracefully admiring Shinji cranking that soulja boy - a real trooper.
Yeah - all he managed to crank by the end was most of humanity into Fanta and choke a girl out while the giant decapitated head of a clone of his mom watched
The gearing between the crank and the door is approx 0.006:1 this means either the door is REALLY heavy or the engineer designed this door specifically with a Soulja Boy bit in mind (also Shinji cranked that ~169 times)
This. THIS is the reason why I'm watching Evangelion. And when I saw this scene just 20 minutes ago, instead of hearing the actual audio, I heard this. I regret absolutely nothing
At 2:31 Asuka could realistically walk in, even if she was keeping her pose; she just wanted to see Shinji suffer for a bit longer. Or to vibe to the BGM.
Nah man, that door is just fucking wierd. If the door itself were heavy, Shinji would be taking a long time to crank that, but as we can see he's cranking that very rapidly with little to no progress whatsoever.
It's not that they were waiting for the door to open all the way, it's that Shinji was just really vibing and they couldn't bring themselves to tell him it was good enough.
In fact, she did change her mind later, but she needed to close that door much faster, though. I smile wide, imagining the awkwardness of that scene if cranking that door with backwards playing music was the only way to close it)
@@Nek0voodoo it's a simple parallax technique. Took the short shot of the animation, cut out to different layers in Photoshop and stitched it together in Premiere.
lets not forget the madlad that engineered this door to specifically make it so that it would not open fully unless it was continually cranked to the tune of "Crank dat" by Soulja Boy
How dare all of you. Fucking zoomers. I’m not even that old, but you were all forsure born after 2005 if you don’t remember hearing this on the radio once a week
@@user-yn7fl6iu1j Excuse me? I haven't watched this, but this statement alone is quite concerning considering Evangelion is a pretty popular oldschool.
It actually doesn't have to be heavy for it to take that many cranks. I'm assuming that this door translates rotational motion to linear motion through a gear reduction. What's most likely happening is that the gear that Shinji is rotating with the crank is tiny compared to the gear it's connected to that's responsible for linear translation. What ends up happening is that he needs to make many rotations of the smaller crank gear in order for the larger gear to make one complete revolution. The door is still prolly really heavy tho.
@@ShadowCatGaming26 I honesty want this kind of door in my dream house. It's a good warm up exercise to start the day. Of course I don't want it place in my front door, I regularly forget things when iam in a hurry lol
This is by far the most popular video I've made that has reached 10k views in less than a month. Guess all of you like to crank it that bad. This was just a fun short project to practice my animation techniques and I'm happy you guys enjoy the little things. Keep crankin Soulja's Bois. (Lenny face)
@@D.H.1082 Glad you like my edit! I tried to look for the VA from the original post but it's either a repost somewhere and the original got lost into obscurity. I would love to give credit to the original, but it's still a challenge.
@@keldricharts uwa hello! i'm actually the voice of the original post that my friend made on twitter! i have no clue how i randomly stumbled on this and how/where it got reposted so much and so quickly but i'm glad everyone seems to enjoy it and is able to use it for more fun edits!! ^o^ i'm not really sure how to link the original tweet i don't really use social media stuff but i'd be glad to message it to you somehow through youtube if you want the link??? ;w;
Okay, so IK this has nothin to really do with the actual content of the video. But getting to see this animation for a longer period of time makes me appreciate the weight and effort shinji is putting in to crank the door open manually, putting his whole body into it, it looks tough, and I really appreciate that animation quality.
The crank doesn't directly open the door, it acts as a hand crank generator, which provides power to a motor that slowly opens the door, and a speaker that play Solja Boy
I like how the way Asuka says that makes me think this is their daily ritual or something :D Like oh don't mind the music it's just Shinji going at it again~
