Thank you for creating all of these very useful videos. We are taking our first trip to Kansai area in December, so your videos are very helpful to not feel so overwhelmed.
Hi! I'm glad you like my videos. I hope your trip will be a greater one. If you have anything that you want to ask me, don't hesitate to comment again.😊
i am planning to visit Japan with my son in upcoming months so just gathering info abour Japan train.... and I found your video is very very useful thanks... keep the good work ...
Thank you for this video. I plan to stay at one of the Kansai airport hotels after my group tour and hope to venture out to Dotombori by myself. Your video will help me a lot!
Arigato Shiba san.. yr English is good, understandable and informative. This video is very good for me who will go to Osaka on coming November. Warm regards from Bali. Have you been to Bali?? 😊😊😊
Hello, thanks for the Great Video. It will help me a lot. Is there an alternative for the Kyoto Bus one Day Ticket? I'm visiting Kyoto in October and want to do sideseeing
Hello! Buses in Kyoto are convenient, but often get stuck in traffic jams. It is therefore better to use the train. Are there places you would like to visit?😊
I really enjoyed your video. We will be visiting Japan in September. We will stay in the Osaka/ Kyoto area for 3 nights. Should we stay in Kyoto or Osaka? We will have a JR railpass. I will check out more of your videos. Thank you.
Hi. I'm really glad that you like my videos. I think staying in Osaka is better because Osaka has terminal stations, such as Osaka (Umeda) station and Namba station. Starting from Osaka, you can go to various places such as Kyoto, Nara and Kobe in a short time. If you have any other questions, feel free to comment again.
Hi! Thank you for the comment. In practice, there is no need to travel between Shin-Osaka and Kyoto by Shinkansen. This is because it is possible to travel cheaply and comfortably on the Keihan, Hankyu and JR trains. However, many foreign visitors often purchase a Japan Rail Pass, which allows them to take the Shinkansen at no extra cost, so they should feel free to use it even for short distances such as between Shin-Osaka and Kyoto.ツ
Hai sir, thanks a lot for this video. I would like visit Osaka and Kyoto on October. Is that possible purchase ticket at counter or ticket machine without Jr pass?
Hi! Yes. You can buy tickets in the same way as shown in this video. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5DHWLDixuS0.html If you have any other questions, feel free to comment again.
Thank you so much for making this video! Just one quick question, when you exited Kyoto station did you put something (the paper ticket?) into the ticket gate?
Hi sir! So I planned take shinkansen from osaka to kyoto at 6.am in the morning, do you know is the ticket machine is open 24/7 or not? Because i planning to print the ticket an hour before the train go (5pm in the morning),,, or i should printed it a day before i ride the shinkansen?
Hi! Ticket vending machines at Shin-Osaka Station are open from 5:30-23:00. Paper tickets can be issued up to 6 minutes before departure. If you have any other questions, do feel free to comment again.😊
Is there any pass to make the round trip to visit osaka cheaper? We have a group of 7 thus that's quite more expensive compared to the Limited express train. Thanks for the great informative video.
@@Shiba-Shiba_TrainsInJapan we are staying in Kyoto and want to do a day trip to Osaka. We need a round trip train ticket and public transportation tickets.
OK! How about these tickets? Kansai Area Pass www.westjr.co.jp/global/en/ticket/pass/kansai/ Kansai Thru Pass (Valid for private railways other than JR) www.surutto.com/tickets/kansai_thru_english.html Osaka Amazing Pass (1day Valid for private railways other than JR) osaka-amazing-pass.com/en/service_about_train.html Note that this pass does not include the fare between Kyoto and Osaka. Discounts may be available if you use online booking and book early, but the short distance between Kyoto and Shin-Osaka seems to exclude the application of discounts. smart-ex.jp/en/lp/app/?.jr-central.co.jp%252Fen%252F&_gl=1*rp7iap*_ga*MTQyMTQ0NDYzOS4xNjk4NzY2MzQ3*_ga_PTQ5QH33LV*MTcxMzIzMjYxMC4yLjEuMTcxMzIzMjYxNC4wLjAuMA..
hi! your video is so helpful. I’ll go on june to osaka with 1 baby, 1 kid, 4 adults. We’ll bring stroller and large luggages. We’ll have JR Pass with us. Which shinkansen do you think will fit the best for us? We’re planning to go from osaka to kyoto in the early morning to avoid crowds. I wish you can help me to choose our transportation. Thank you🙏
Hi! Thank you for your comment. You might want to avoid NOZOMI as it is always crowded with people who would like to get to Tokyo fast. Before NOZOMI arrives, I often see many people in line on the platform. KODAMA and HIKARI are not so crowded and especially KODAMA is sometimes practically deserted.
Hi Shiba-shiba thanks for the great video. May I know how long (km or miles) was the total walk from Namba station to Kyoto station as I am travelling with my Mom who is already 75 years old. Thank you.
Hi! From Swissôtel to Osaka Metro Namba Station ... about 350m From Osaka Metro Shin-osaka Station to JR Osaka Station ... about 350m Swissôtel is located directly above Nankai Namba Station, making it easy to get to various places. Almost all stations have lifts, so you will have no difficulty in getting around. If you have any other questions, feel free to comment again.😊
hi Shiba-shiba san. I wonder if there's shinkansen available from Osaka to Kyoto, can i use it in reverse? it's from Kyoto to Osaka, and with my JR Pass?
Yes, you can take the Shinkansen trains 'Hikari' and 'Kodama' between Shin-osaka and Kyoto stations with your JR pass. Note that 'Nozomi' is not covered by the JR Pass. If you have any further questions, do feel free to comment again.
Hello! First of all, thank you for making a clear, informative, and useful guide to Shinkansens! Just a quick question tho, Nozomi is in my bucket list but it is not included in JR Pass. I have a tight schedule and want to see as much of Kyoto for a day and I'm afraid that if I miss Hikari train from Tokyo station to Kyoto station, I will wait longer as compared to taking Nozomi trains. I'm afraid that if there will be significant delays, I might miss seeing Arashiyama Grove. Is it worth it to spend more with Nozomi or taking Hikari is okay with tight schedule? Thank you so much and more power to you! 😊
Thank you for your comment. A major feature that cannot be overlooked when discussing the Shinkansen is the accuracy of the timetable: according to JR Tokai's Annual Report 2020, there are 378 trains per day and 458,000 passengers are carried. Shinkansen trains departing from Tokyo Station are on average 3:30 minutes apart, which is unparalleled for a high-speed railway, to the surprise of many foreign travellers. Furthermore, despite the overcrowded timetable, the average delay per train in operation is only 0.2 minutes. This includes delays caused by natural disasters such as heavy rain and heavy snowfall, and the trains boast an astonishing on-time operation rate of 'zero' delays in normal operations. So do not worry about delays and get on Hikari. If by any chance there is a delay, it will be a valuable experience. If you have any other questions, please feel free to comment again!
@@Shiba-Shiba_TrainsInJapan Thank you so much for your response! I will keep that in mind. I'm excited to try the Shinkansen and Ekiben in a couple of weeks to Ashikaga! Keep up the good work on your helpful and adventure-filled videos! Arigatou Gozaimasu!
Thank you for your nice comment. You can make a reservations for seats with an oversized baggage area. See the link below for details. global.jr-central.co.jp/en/info/oversized-baggage/ Have a nice trip!!
Thanks for making the video. It is so clear how to get to Kyoto from central of Osaka(Namba). If I have a big luggage, I need to make a reservation. When I clicked the link that you sent, my luggage size is not over size, do I still need to make a reservation? I just have two luggages( my daughter and I are going to Japan). I am not sure if the train has a luggage area, like Nankai line or Haruka.
My pleasure. About the size of baggage that requires a reservation, see the link below for details. global.jr-central.co.jp/en/info/oversized-baggage/ I hope you will enjoy visiting Osaka and Kyoto. Please don’t hesitate to ask any questions.
Shiba Shiba, if I make a reservation due to oversize luggages, do I have to get reserved seat? I saw a video from RU-vid, the video said if i make a reservation for the oversize luggages, I have to buy reserved seat, not non reserved seat. Is it correct? Do you know how much the ticket for the reserved seat? Also there are a few lines of Shinkansen. If I take the one from Osaka to Kyoto, what is the name of Shinkansen? Tokaido, Sanyo or Kyushu. I am getting confuse on Shinkansen.
Hi! Yes. It is necessary to make a reservation for oversized luggages since there are no space for oversized luggage in non-reserved cars. The price of the ticket for the reserved seat from Shin-osaka to Kyoto, NOZOMI ... 2,670 JPY HIKARI or KODAMA ... 2460 JPY NOZOMI is the fastest Shinkansen, so it is a little more expensive. However, as there are no intermidiate stations between Shin-osaka and Kyoto, it will be good to take HIKARI or KODAMA. In addition, HIKARI and KODAMA are not as crowded as NOZIMI. About the Shinkansen network, please see the link below. www.hakatastation.com/tokaido-sanyo-shinkansen-to-hiroshima-osaka-kyoto-nagoya-and-tokyo/
Hi Shiba-Shiba I tried to make a reservation with oversize luggages and buy the tickets. The website showed the ticket is $3,270 for Nozimi and $3,070 for Hikari. They are not same price, like you mentioned. I found a pricing from the website. It listed out $1,440 for non reserved seat and $2,870 for reserved seat from Shin-Osaka to Kyoto. Why did I get the different price on the website? Is the ticket price based on what day and what time I take Shinkansen? Can I buy Shinkansen ticket at Kansai Airport? I am sure Kansai airport has JR ticket counter. @@Shiba-Shiba_TrainsInJapan
Of course, there is. Although in this video I use only stairs, escalators and elevators are available at major train stations in Japan. About six months ago, one of my subscribers asked me to shoot them in my videos, so since then I have been using escalators and lifts when I film videos. Regrettably, this video was made before that. If you have any further questions, do feel free to comment again.
That good, because I see some people, they carry luggage go upstairs. A lot people comment why don’t use escalated? Why don’t send luggage? Any way thank shiba so much your video, I am ready to go Japan
Unfortunately, NO. JR WEST Kansai WIDE Area Pass covers the Shinkansen between Okayama and Shin-osaka. The Shinkansen between Shin-osaka and Kyoto is operated by Central Japan Railway Company, a separate company from JR West. See the link below for details. www.westjr.co.jp/global/en/ticket/pass/kansai_wide/ If you have any other questions, do feel free to comment again.😊
Yes. You can take HARUKA from Osaka Station (or Shin-osaka Station) to Kyoto Station. I have a video about how to get from Osaka to Kyoto taking HARUKA. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-o0PSLpXaFEM.html
Sorry I keep sending you the same question. For some reason I can’t see my questions on the comment section. I don’t know why. This is the first time I am having an issue to see my comment. Sorry about that.
I can see this one, but I can’t see the one that I asked you about getting the 5 days pass. That’s why I kept sending you the same question. If you don’t mind, would you please put your answer about getting the pass here. Now I can only see two comments here, not the one I asked you the 6 days pass. I don’t know what happened.
I've already answered two questions. However, I haven't seen your comment about the 5 day pass. Do you mean JAPAN RAIL PASS japanrailpass.net/en/ or JR-WEST RAIL PASS? www.westjr.co.jp/global/en/ticket/pass/
yes, the second link, it lists out all passes. I am thinking to get 5 days pass for 10,000 yen. I will visit Osaka and Kyoto. I know I need to take Nankai Line from Kansai airport to central of Osaka and Shinkansen from Osaka to Kyoto. I will take bus to get the sightseeing area in Kyoto. I definitely need ti take subway to get around Osaka. Should I get it? What is the best option for me? 3 days in Osaka and 4 days in Kyoto
Sorry it is taken me so long to get back to you. As long as I see your plan, 5 days pass is not necessary since the train fare between Osaka and Kyoto is not so expensive.
