I run 40 pounds per sqaure inch of pressure on mine for both street and trail riding, does rly well on hard pack and a bit of loose dirt, still gets good milage on street as well ❤
I like my shinko 244 golden boy tires on my xr650l. I also purchased the dunlop 605 tires for future. That set was priced at 110.00 set! I'll try those out later. So far love the 244!
I ran these a few years ago. They work well aired down on the trail (around 12 psi).. they just have a relatively soft carcass so you don’t want to go much lower than that. I moved on to a motoz hybrid after that which lasted me a long time.. I have no idea on mileages I never check that stuff I just replace when needed. I currently run a D606 rear without about a 1000 miles of mixed riding to work and trail (mainly rocks and hard terrain) and it’s holding up well however I think the 244 or motoz hybrid is a better option for hard terrain cause the 606 knobs are so stiff.. they don’t really bite into that sort of stuff. They do handle the road well though. This is long way of me saying that I think I’ve come full circle and am going back to the 244 again (cause its way cheaper than the motoz) lol. Thanks for the review 👍
I had the same tire on a DRZ and KLR and liked it. It is a good 50/50 tire. I had a D606 on the front of my KLR and got great mileage out of it but replaced it with a 244 when it was used up. It is hard to beat the 244 when looking for a 50/50 tire.
Informative video . Thanks. How are they for road noise? I have a Kenda K270, about 50% worn, on the back of my Honda 230L and it just shrieks on the highway. If I forget my earplugs I'm doomed.
Okanagan Rider: I just installed the shinko 244s on my KLR. I had the Kenda 270s on prior to that. You are right about the noise, the Kenda howls when riding down the road. Even with me wearing earplugs I can hear it. But I actually like the noise LOL!
I'd be thrilled with 5,500 mi from a rear tire on any of my bikes. I run this tire on a DR650 and get ~1,500 mi out of a rear to look like yours. Mileage comparisons even from the same rider, much less different riders, don't necessarily mean a lot. How much and how often the right wrist turns, and the road surface, has everything to do with mileage, more so than the tire brand (similar tire designs). I bet you get great chain and gas mileage too - I just can't ride that slow and easy.
I have the shinko 244 5.10-18 on my Yamaha xt250 and after about 3000 miles has worn down to about 20% tread. I run about 28psi. I think I will try the d606 and let you know how it does.
