I gotta get my battery charged up or replaced and get these new parts on it so I can get it out riding again when our weather clears up! I hope your Nighthawk purchase goes well! It's a great bike. @@3PedalDevils well, if you do ever get the itch or inclination to try another bike, I'd suggest the 2nd generation sv650. It's another great "do anything" sort of bike, like the nighthawk 450. I think I've owned seven SVs out of the 30 something bikes I've had. It's my favorite motorcycle.

Those tires look like car tires. How do they handle? I have same bike. 82 450sc. How much air do you put in the front forks. I have kenda sport tires. Its leans over good.
@3PedalDevils
@3PedalDevils 4 года назад
They're definitely a little different than the tires I've ridden on in the past but I'm actually liking them a lot so far. At first I was nervous to lean in on them, but once I got used to them, I discovered they grip up well. Main thing to complain about with these tires is that they're awful when on roads with deep rain grooves (on highways and stuff sometimes) because the tread tries to follow the grooves and it shimmys a little over 55mph. I'll put out a full review video on the tires in the next week or two! That's dope that we have the same bike! I'm not actually sure about the front fork air, but I'll do some research and let you know if I find anything. How do you like your kenda sports?
@3PedalDevils
@3PedalDevils 4 года назад
On page 228 of the service manual, it says: "Fill the fork tubes with air to 80 +/- 20 kPa (which is 11 +/- 3 psi). CAUTION: Use only a hand operated air pump to fill the fork tubes. Do not use compressed air. Maximum pressure is 43 psi, Do not exceed this or fork tube damage may occur." It then says to apply the front brake, pump the front forks up and down several times. Check air pressure with bike on center stand and readjust if necessary. Hope this helps.

Those com star wheels need tubes? I have the '85 and it doesn't need them.
@3PedalDevils
@3PedalDevils 3 года назад
The stock tires that were on it were tubeless, but the classic 240's that I put on required a tube in the rear. So the comstar wheels don't require a tube, like you said! It's just because of the tires I wanted.

I know this is two years old, but...those are not the right tires for this bike at all. They would look good on a vintage Triumph or BSA, but tires were much more advanced by the 1980s (hey, I was there at the time). The Shinko 712 would be a much better choice. Perhaps a little more modern than stock, but definitely would be closer (and much safer) than those 240's!
@edricseno
@edricseno 3 года назад
What can you say about the Shinkos? Any reviews?
@3PedalDevils
@3PedalDevils 3 года назад
I think they look great on the bike. They seemed to grip well as I rode some pretty twisty country roads. My first ride on them felt a little weird, they're more of a square profile than round like I was used to, but by the second ride, I had the confidence back with them. Only negatives I've seen with them is that the tread pattern tries to follow the rain groove lines in grooved roads and hops around a little, but I've only got one of those roads near me so I just avoid it. Overall they have seemed to be decent tires for the price and style i was going for
@edricseno
@edricseno 3 года назад
Won’t it lose grip easily? Because where im from, it rains a lot
@3PedalDevils
@3PedalDevils 3 года назад
Fortunately for me, I never got caught in the rain, but I'd have to assume they wouldn't be the best rain tire out there. Though, compared to the tires on my old sport bike, I think they'd handle their own in the rain. Sorry I'm not able to give more inside on rain riding with them! -Connor

3 Pedal Devils all good! I love the look of the classic tires on old bikes, but I think its a smarter move to just go for the summer tires. What do you think?
@3PedalDevils
@3PedalDevils 3 года назад
If you're riding in rain or really pushing your bike to limits on turns, then yeah I'd say you'd probably make a good choice by going with a summer tire instead!

@3PedalDevils
@3PedalDevils 2 года назад
A 130/90-17 tire will not fit, since the tire is made for a 17" diameter wheel and you said your honda has tires that are on 16" diameter wheels.

Why did you tube the rear tire?
@3PedalDevils
@3PedalDevils 3 года назад
The Shinko Classic 240 tires in a MT90-16 are a tube-type tire. I wanted the 240's look and tread pattern and for some reason the rear was tube-type even though the matching front was tubeless.

@@3PedalDevils Oh, okay. I didn't think it would call for one. Have you had any vibration from not balancing? Maybe try those balance bead things? If you'll excuse me, I'm going to watch your other videos.
@3PedalDevils
@3PedalDevils 3 года назад
Yeah I thought it was strange too, but I dug around on their website and couldn't find a reason as to why they were designed that way. I haven't had any vibration issues due to not balancing the tires. I just tried to match up the painted dot on the tire with the valve stem while mounting them and it seemed to work well. I've hit about 80-85mph on them and still no vibrating issues. They are super sketchy on roads with deep rain-clearing grooves though, as the treads try to follow the lines and end up skipping around. They're awesome on normal roads though! And thanks!! Hopefully you'll find some other videos that interest you on the channel :)
