Since you went ahead and dug the hole you should have just got a fiberglass pool insert and and saved tens of thousands of dollars and had a normal looking pool😮

and over $40,000 + the cost of the excavation, concrete work, and moving. Not sure why go with a shipping container at this price. Don't get me wrong, it's a beautiful pool, but what if you don't have $50,000 - $60,000 to spend.
@CarrinoAnthony
@CarrinoAnthony 2 года назад
Hey Andrew, you can't actually use concrete for a pool. Concrete is a pourous material and can't be sealed well enough. I think what you are referring to is a gunnite pool, which is quite a bit more expensive up my way...even with my concrete box. All in I was at $40k: Pool, concrete and site work. Hope that helps. -A
@amytaylor5587
@amytaylor5587 2 года назад
Agree. Could have simply added a vinyl liner to the concrete box. Is the concrete box even necessary? Can’t the container go straight into the ground with a proper base of sand/gravel? And then back fill with dirt?

@Z71hosestretcher
@Z71hosestretcher Год назад
OK I didn’t finish reading all the comments but I have to address what you keep saying that is incorrect. There have been poured concrete pools built for years. All you have to do is either plaster or paint the inside or put a liner and it’s more than sufficient it does not have to be gunite. You built a concrete pool and if you would’ve thickened the top edge and then plastered the inside you would’ve saved a butt load of money. Also, that container could’ve been set directly in the ground just like metal wall vinyl liner pools have done for many years and it would’ve lasted you a very long time.
@CarrinoAnthony
@CarrinoAnthony Год назад
The container cannot be set directly in the ground. It would block the vent for the heater rendering it useless.

Ant, I just finished adding a hot-tub to my existing pool here in Las Vegas. It's been a 8 month project with everything, roughly $60K with labor and other fees. To have this shipping container pool dropped right in, completely enclosed w/equipment at $30K, thats a really good deal. I am impressed at how it looks too, love the automatic cover too.

@@stedmans4christ I'm not saying I added a hot tub to my shipping container pool....What I'm saying - to add a shipping container that can serve two purposes - a pool and hot tub at only $30K, thats a good deal...not to mention in some parts of the country it's very difficult to find skilled teams that can complete a new pool project in the next year. Wait, did you put a steel pool....in a concrete pool? I kinda like it because you can empty the steel pool, beam off the concrete pool. Flip the steel pool over and you get a 2 story bomb shelter. Add some doors and you're good to go! Whats the price difference of the insert vs plastering and building a traditional concrete pool? If that info is available. Good video, nice work undoubtedly.

We have been looking at Tangled, Alternative Living (Las Vegas), and Mod Pool (also Canada). Could you let me know a bit more about the pool experience now that you have been using it for a while? maintenance? durability? any complaints? Safety issues? How easy is it to use on a daily basis with the auto cover and such? Thanks very much for sharing your experience. P.S. I also agree that you and George Clooney look alike. hahaha.
@CarrinoAnthony

Hey Katharine, thanks so much! So, I've only had the pool this one season, but with that said, I am super happy thus far. Literally no maintenance, but jury is out on this until after my first winter and getting it setup again in the Spring - I am not anticipating an issue, but want to be clear that I havent gone through a winter yet. I LOVE the auto cover, its a child safe cover, which also keeps wildlife out of the pool...it has a 4 digit lockout on the keypad, and should also be noted: its the only part of the pool you CANNOT control from your phone, this is obviously for liability reasons, and I have no issue with it. Only note on the auto cover is that they installed it on an aluminum bracket which flexes so the cover is a bit out of square. I am working with the company to alleviate this, I just haven't had the time to test out our latest solution, so just ask if they have switched to a stronger bracket if you are going with the auto cover. no safety issue that any other pool doesnt have durability seems great - will know more over time - i will be doing another video in the next year or two, but judging by the build quality and coating they used i am not anticipating any issues. overall i would definitely recommend Tangle.

That's a pretty sweet pool for the cash, agreed. The concrete box you did seems like a really good way to go as well. I'm just wondering if they say how long to expect the paint to last. The epoxy on my concrete pool kept chalking from the chlorine and you'd come out with blue feet pretty much after the first year of a fresh paint job. a concrete box is not a sufficient material for a pool. It is porous, and would crack in the winter during freeze thaw. Pools that look like concrete are made of gunite, and are way more expensive. So I'm assuming that based on your viewership and subscribers, you receive this build at either a substantial discount or even free. With that said This particular pull system would Cost at least double, if not triple the normal cost of an in ground pool. The novelty of having a pool like this in a northern climate would possibly be Advantageous for a Airbnb and/or something like that. Otherwise, this is a ridiculous and expensive way of installing a pool. if the pool had been built Above ground or partially Below ground level as they are intended to be. This may have made a little bit more sense. However, you basically built a swimming pool and then put another swimming pool inside of it

Why don't people use container tanks to store solar energy? For example, automate using concentrated solar thermal power to pump water from the low tank to the high tank during sunny day and release water to drive electric generator and back to the low tank during the night. You can search "Burning Stuff With 2000ºF Solar Power!!" and GREENPOWERSCIENCE for a lot of examples. Actually, potential energy of the tank themselves can also be used directly for generating electricity already.

Great pool and video. Good explanations on the setup. But, I don't understand why you would opt for this vs a traditional pool since you excavated and poured concreted. Like a regular pool. And, I've been checking into this shipping container pools and the cost seems start at $35K-$50K. (not including excavation, electrical, gas hookups, water drainage (sump or some other drainage) . Basically, in some areas, I think you can get in ground pool for the same. I assume you got quoted much higher. Would be interesting to know what you got quoted for with the in-ground. And, also what the concrete vault cost.

Hey Chris, up here by me the 3 main factors were: 1. Labor is way more expensive and I cannot do a gunnite pool for the same money, and I wasn't interested in fiberglass or liner 2. pool contractors are literally booked out to 2024 right now 3. I had so much site work I had to do the idea that this pool could be fabricated offsite and then dropped in the hole and hooked up in one day really helped my overall build schedule. (separately I'm a shipping container nut and love the aesthetic as well, but the above were my main reasons). Hope that helps answer your Qs!
