Cool to come across one of my old tugs. I was skipper of the Christine in the late 70s at Devonport. Mainly worked out of Ernesettle Jetty just to the north of the Tamar Bridge. And back in the 60s I was a cabin boy on the C668 (Now Vic96) at Chatham. In those days we had a regular run from Chatham to St Katherines Dock. Fond memories.
Sailed out of Sheerness on Fyffes and out of Tilbury on Blue Star Line, P&O (GDC)general cargo division & OCL my uncle was Skipper on Sun Tugs Alexandra Shipping Ron Turner (Mary) as they called him been going to sea now since leaving the peanut factory in 78/79 only a few more trips and I’m retiring had a great life but sad to see all the great ships and British Shipping Companies have all but a couple disappeared
id recognise that tug anywhere-the nore crest. ex MEECHING. that tug started life in newhaven the same year i did and i used to see her every day. always loved her. would love to see her back in newhaven again as the MEECHING once more.
