I got on a vintage nostalgia kick last fall and believe me when I say the shipping was usually more than the item ! Whew I hope I've lived and learned!
Thank you for explaining the shipping situation on EBay. I recently purchased a MCM drinking glass for $7.99 but with tax and shipping it was over $19.00.
Thank you so much George I really enjoy your presentation and your knowledge. I have some things I wish I could give you to auction off but I just don't know how to do it like a beautiful Japanese dragon cup and saucer when you pick it up put it to the light there's a naked lady in the bottom fantastic little bar glasses one of them is pink elephant things like that
The 'final cost' quirks with Ebay (and other quirks) are deterring a lot of bidding - especially now that they instantly charge your card if you're the winner. I used to find myself scrolling 'ending soonest' and buying someting with minutes left... but I no longer do that.
I have one of the Alligator letter openers, I had no idea that that was its purpose! It has the same information on the bottom. I know that my grandparents went to Michigan from Ohio in the late 19-teens to elope. Maybe they bought it then!
Ithink you share really great information and love the way you respect your audience and your consumers keeping up with what they like personally that was fun to hear you say that I appreciate your honesty and respect for your customers great video thank you 🙏 😊😊😊😊😊
Just an FYI about alternate shipping. There have been numerous complaints, mainly with Fed Ex, of additional up-charges after item has shipped. One person was off by 1", weight was correct, and gold an added charge of $24. Just like the PO the other carriers can add/subtract the amounts directly from your account thru ebay. I did get one from Fed Ex but I probably was off on my measurements so I didnt think anything of it but there are many sellers who are furious. I just used Fed Ex for a piece recently because it was $30 less the USPS, Im going to be curious to see if I get an up charge on it. UPS has been doing the same as I understand it and lots of muttering about class action lawsuits, thats how bad its become. I always offer fre shipping so I havent used the postage calculator for a long time but Im wondering.....are you using Priority or Ground Advantage? That paperweight would have fit nicely in a med. Flat rate box so around $20 at the most, GA about $15 as long as youre using ebay shipping/labels. Im amazed how many sellers dont take advantage of the shipping discounts we get. Thought I better let you know about the up charge problem so you can watch for any extra charges.
Yes, I've just gone through that with my poor Canadian client who was informed UPS is now adding a "brokerage fee" larger than the cost of the item plus shipping! I use ground advantage mostly because it's usually cheapest, but there's variables depending on distance and size that make it hard to judge. Thank you for your warning, we all better be careful
I’ve never seen a purple cow I never hope to see one But I’d rather see one than be one. My mom had a purple cow and always make me laugh when she said this poem.
I find the shipping International shipping to Canada is sometimes Higher than the item. The seller says they cannot give back any Shipping charges as it is goes to ebay . makes me not want to bid on items.
Hi. Great info. Thankyou kindly!! ... May I ask a qu? I have been collecting for a shop which never happened (cv) I have some unique pieces, yet I can’t seem to find info on some. May I ask your opinion on how to get info.? I need help pricing things. I’m stuck spinning my wheels. I have bisbee turquoise too. I want to learn to silversmith.
