All those pretty lakes and mountains in the beginning of the video are, of course, nowhere near the Shire, which is a surprisingly small square of land in the middle of a neighborhood loaded with mobile homes and light industrial facilities; basically, it is on the outskirts of Mordor.
Even though I could not have lived in Bend/moved there, I am desolate that this amazingly creative and beautiful project failed/does not exist. Bad economic timing, and perhaps location jinxed it. BUT I wonder: if some billionaire developer had built it as planned/designed -- rather than individuals needing to put up $800K in advance -- and offered it as vacation time shares, I believe it might have worked. I still dream of having such a home some day. Thank you, developers, for the DREAM!
Well....I'm that idiot. Yeah, it is hard to be a lonely hobbit. But I'm not the only one that got "shorn" in this RE bust. But new things are a-brew. We have new investors, have sold the 2nd home, The Butterfly, and momentum is building to do the Town Homes next. The road goes ever onward and so do we...
@greglhoticom Hey man they're making a film adaptation of the Hobbit pretty soon. I'm sure that'll get people interested in the Shire once again and you'll have lots of neighbors. Just look out for those damn Sackville-Bagginses.
