Me too. They really don't make performances like this anymore. She exudes power, sensuality, and combines it with playfulness and great stage presence. Add those vocals, and you got this amazing rendition. Also, the band is fire.
Beyonce has had some good songs but doesn't come anywhere close to the voice and talent that Dame Shirley Bassey possesses, Shirley's performance in this video at the Royal Albert Hall 1974 is far more better than one of beyonce's elaborate provocative performances.
I was at this show, An amazing night that has remained clear in my memory for almost 50 years. A true legend. Thank you Shirley for sharing your talent with the world.
What an awesome talented artist. S.B. nailed it at every performance! I love Tom Jones on Thunderball (soundtrack studio version) unfortunates T.J. was unable to match his original rendition whereas S.B. just did it better and better. Cheers and happy holidays!
When I saw the movie in The 60's, she was the reason the popcorn tasted so good. And the danger, the drama, the romance, the intrigue, and that golden touch. She owns this song. Her golden fingers are all over it
@@generalyellor8188 Ummm, no. This is truly definitive, and many people these days do not understand an actual live performance doesn't include a vocal backing track and a prerecorded instrumental.
I also felt like the trumpets laugh after her and also the audience! She is such a great artist ❤️ she give all her beauty and power to the audience, she is generous.
What a powerful voice and true performance in the purest sense of the word. Shirley is not even singing into the mic, it's like its not even there. She is totally in the moment, classic tonal universe.
Joe D'Ambrosio And 36 years later Dame Shirley closed the 2011 classic Brit awards with “Goldfinger”, also at Royal Albert Hall. Her vocal prowess was still formidable. Astonishing for a singer at that age.
She is the original diva, the first real worldwide superstar. Dame Shirley Bassey is renowned the world over for her remarkable ability to draw us into her performances. Love love love her.
It took three seconds into this video to, again, remind me why this woman is the best vocalist who ever lived 😍. That voice,, the extreme power of that voice..........!!!
I have touched Shirley in places most men never have!! I used to wash her hair in a Mayfair salon. 🤣🤣She is every bit the great Diva in real life you see onstage-just fabulous!
My God!!! I’m truly blessed to have grown up, and lived through, the absolute pinnacle of music. Thank you God! The BEST Bond song, sung by the BEST Bond girl….. EVER!
After a performance like this, what can you honestly say? I relinquish the crown to Dame Shirley Bassey, the queen of sultry, sexy singers! If Dame Shirley Bassey had only recorded "Goldfinger", "Diamonds Are Forever" & "Moonraker", she would still be a superstar. Because, there is nobody who compares or can compete with her amazing voice.
Everything about her is so bold and brilliant. What a performer, the control in her voice, the show, the hands … and who could forget that last note. I wish I could be transported back to watch her live ❤
I just saw Goldfinger in a classic movie palace today. When the Goldfinger theme came on through the extraordinary sound system with Shirley Bassey singing, it gave me chills, because it felt like Shirley was singing in the theater. It is the greatest theme song ever! 👍👍👍👍👍
That final big note is just out of this world! She doesn't need to gyrate around the stage half naked either....her voice, stage presence and hand gestures are more than enough to engage any audience.
There are no more artists like her anymore, in fact not for the last 32 years until today, and I’m being generous, Shirley was in another plane, vocally and artistically. Love the way she acts the whole song as if scene by scene of Goldfinger.✨
I'm a straight female but beyond her incredible voice, can we all take a a moment and recognize what a magnificent specimen of womanhood Ms. Bassey is....she is smokin'HOT in that dress!
I got the chills! Oh how I wish I was born back in that era. Music was real. People were real. Shirley bassey is a living legend and her voice is divine. This interpretation was fantastic! Loved it 💜
Amen. I wish I lived back then too. Nobody from that era notices how truly great their music was. My dad says that in a past life I went to Woodstock. LOL
From all the times I've heard her sing this, this is my favourite one. I melt everytime I listen to her loudly kissing her shoulder, her laughing for that, her energy and all her glorious splendorous self. This is a true artist!
This woman is a truly great singer. Can you think of anyone who could put on a live performance today of this quality, without electronic help, dancers to distract, huge noisy back up band etc. Right, there is no-one today who could even approach Bassey's level.
@@MrTimodon No way, not even close. Tina Turner is not even a singer, more of a song stylist. And very limited at that, she can only sing one very narrow type of music. No comparison at all to Shirley Bassey. Tina will be forgotten, and probably has already been forgotten, once she permanently stops performing.
@@straceshow3212 Thank you sir! Its a question of taste! She are doing this song "Cosas de la vida very good with Eros Ramazotti. Some like it some not!
What a FANTASTIC,FANTASTIC VOICE,DAME BASSEY!! A fellow grade school peer,Ellen Foley, sang this song,in our grade school tryouts, and Ellen was GREAT!! Ellen Foley sang in grade school,St.Louis,MO. Nancy Sanders,St.Louis,MO.
Powerful, provocative, pretty, graceful, young and her notes rising to a crescendo which brings shiver to the spine. All her body movements use of eyes and head indicates clearly that she is a wise woman at 37 qualified in many directions using them all as necessary during any of her shows. I just saw her singing this same song at the age of 77 and though age took its toll, there is enough left to make her enjoy listening to. She too seems to enjoy her past and she know that she was more powerful then, but we all remember our best in our past. .
Shirley Bassey, a true, true, Welsh and British icon. I have never heard her going on about ethnic background colour etc,. She never had things easy when she was young, but she made the best of what she had, and her talent and ability and her ambition. God bless Shirley..🏴🇬🇧🏴
ermm ........WOW ALL Bond themes should have been sung by Shirley she knocks the spots off ALL the others! Her songs MADE the films she did! Stunning beauty - unequalled voice - job done! Oh PLUS all those sequins!!
Absolutely magnificent. Breathtaking. Standing ovation. Magnifico! I had no idea. I heard this song first as a middle schooler. I had no idea how amazing the singer really was, even though even then, I knew that this was a substantial talent heard on the radio. But her live performance? Awesome. That presence. That play. That theatre. Wow. I would put this on my top ten movie soundtrack songs, maybe even in the top 5. Maybe even into the top three, but the competition is fierce. Shirley, you turned out to be a force. One I never knew (beyond this song.) So now it's time for a wee bit of research, no?
