I'm 71 years old and shito had existed before. Previously, it was only homemade until it went commercial so you can pick it from the shelf. You don't go to boarding house without shito and gari in your chopbox, shito and gari is called student's companion. The taste of waakye is in the shito. So Niger, go ahead and enjoy shito!
Nigerians should enjoy Shito but always remember to give due credit and honour and respect to Ghana, as the origin and source of the delicious pepper sauce called SHITO.
Madam keep your ghanian shitto we don't need it in Nigeria 🇳🇬 In Nigeria we have our pepper sauce Typically from the yoruba region called Ewa Agoyin pepper sauce Some of these bloggers are just deceiving you people 😂😂😂 Keep your shitto we don't need ii in Nigeria 🇳🇬 😂😂😂
@estheroppong4782 adding adwene is not wrong am a Ghanaian and I sometimes use chicken in my shito so I think the meat or dry fish in ur shito is by choice just fry it well so it won't go bad
Please, let's make this correction quickly before our Nigerian friends claim shito as theirs. The sauce is SHITO, and it's Ghanaian. What do we mean by GHANA SHITO?
How did Ghanaians invent Shito? Shito is a meal for secondary school students who are in the boarding-houses. Going to stay in school for several months, parents then give their wards shito to supplement school food. Shito can be eaten with kenkey, rice, and gari. Shito is a preserved food that can be eaten without heating.
You are so wrong. It's only Yorubas (South West) that likes pepper.. definitely not the whole of Nigeria. Can't you guys get busy without mentioning Nigeria? FYI, your Shitto is not trending in Nigeria.
Wow, Nigerians are doing well by appreciating our delicacies. We shouldn't be worried that they will claim it as theirs because even mother nature knows it's from Ghana . Personally as a Ghanaian, i feel very proud when people of other countries enjoy and praise something from Ghana and i will really be happy if my poeple do same a warm reactions
She's got the idea but she definitely needs a Ghanaian tutor to polish up, Shitor needs to cook with more oil so it could be used to store it in the jar or it goes bad quickly. Shitor is all about preservation
My sister has done a great job, well done. Forget about the method you have arrived. How l hope am there to taste it. Next time l will show you another Ghana dish ok
My Ghanian classmate Belinda Botchway introduced me and other classmates to Shito when we were in the Boarding house, very delicious and hot 🔥 thing, and e no dey spoil 😅. I love it! Havent had it since then though, I think i should look for a good recipe and make it.
She didn’t prepare it well. You have to cook the vegetables first until the water is completely dry then you add the powder shrimp and fish to it. You never mix them from scratch. And when you add it you don’t cook it for long else you’d have a burnt taste
Please never cover shito when cooking it, it retains water in it and takes longer to cook and please add oil from the start like you are making stew, more onions than she used and fish, pepper and spice should be added when its almost done. Also cooking time takes about an 1-2 hrs or more depending on the quantity. I hope this helps someone
You can have all the ingredients but minus water cause water supports micro organisms to grow and this may cause you shito to go rotten . Always ensure that the water content is almost zero micro organisms can not survive in your SHITO and you shito may last longer. Shito is very economical one little spoon full and it's ok with your rice, bread eba and what have you. The only problem with shito is that it's very tempting and the feeling of going for it one more time will make you finish you shito early than planned.
I don’t think the origin is important but rather how we can take advantage of its popularity. Wake up Ghanaians, Nigeria has a very unlimited market to exploit.
She did good with her receipe. Keeping the lid off to prevent the heat from turn liquid into going back into the shito which will expand the cooking/ frying time.
Every Ghanaian person who attend secondary school in boarding house ,our saviour is almighty Gari and shito. But sis and bros from Naija try shito with bread you'll thank me .
It wasn't her own method.Lots of Ghanaians have been preparing shito like this from generations. Most Ghanaians are accustomed to what she calls and claims "her own method". We still appreciate it.Good job.
She did very well. But we don’t add any liquid to shito except oil. That’s why it’s shelf stable. It was initially made for students going to boarding schools because we didn’t have enough access to home made foods. We don’t refrigerate shito and it doesn’t go bad until you finish it.
Nigerians 🇳🇬 always learnt from Ghana 🇬🇭 in so many things, including Jolof. Very soon, Nigerians will claim shito comes from them, or at best, they have the best shito. So stop saying Ghana 🇬🇭 shito. Because they will claim Nigeria has shito too.
Everything Nigeria learn from Ghana like seriously??? Make una just say una want Make una shitto popular for Nigeria ,we no want Make una keep una shitto for Ghana Must you people call Nigeria in Everything you do??
