"Root", the second single of our new Studio Album "MASRAHIYA" - set for release on the 16th of November 2023 - is a poignant tribute to heritage, belonging, and the profound sense of Home.
"Roots" or "جذور" as the title explicitly suggests, delves deep into the concept of origin, resonating with listeners on a personal and cultural level. With this song (sung entirely in Arabic), Ameen takes on the mantle of a storyteller, presenting an enchanting rendition of an age-old Iraqi folklore. Through his soul-stirring vocals, Ameen transports listeners to a realm of nostalgia and longing.
In the accompanying short music clip (shoot in Tripoli, Lebanon), we embark on a symbolic journey in an old taxi - a relic of the past that still graces the streets of several Middle Eastern countries, evoking a sense of timelessness and history. The narrative takes a poignant turn when Ameen, implores the driver to take them to "Deir ez-Zor," his hometown in Syria - a place that, due to circumstances beyond his control, remains a distant memory.
This emotional plea echoes the overarching theme of "MASRAHIYA," where blurred boundaries between reality and fiction create a captivating tapestry of stories and experiences. Our heartfelt rendition of "Roots" serves as a powerful testament to the enduring ties that bind us to our past and the yearning for a sense of belonging.
