You really could’ve just said “devs please make really nice art of your female character so it can be used in thumbnails”

I'd put a thicker black outer glow around the text on this video's thumbnail to make it contrast better with the background. Really makes the text pop a lot more than just an outline. Same with the character too, tbh - you're not losing anything by darkening the background.

I might be the only person who glazed over the thumbnail and clicked on this video only after reading the title. (It may or may not have blended in with the rest of the thumbnails on my youtube page)

I disagree, I don't like characters on shootem ups thumbnails, mostly of my favorite shooters barely have characters, R-Type, Star Soldier, Final Soldier, Blade Soldier, Recca, Thunder force, Gate of thunder, Salamander, Twin Bee, Gun Nac, are the opposite, the characters are generic and the things that give they personality is the space ship, the enemies or the environment, the space ship is the character itself and almost every fan can recognize it, if not then probably isn't the right video for that kind of viewer. Also I disagree with the criticism against standardization of thumbnails, that help me to recognize the youtubers and immediately click or avoid, is organized, is easy to understand and search like a library, I love it is very efficient.

I don't like this trending of click bait thumbnails, I just need the general information and clarity on the information, there is a lot of great content that I avoid due to the thumbnails, then I click on a small video who miraculously isn't a click bait and enjoy it just to explore the channel and discover that the channel have a lot of click bait thumbnails that I previously evade, then I click on the videos because I already know that the content is what I want but when I watch those videos surely the youtuber believe that the thumbnail was the hook to attract me, continuing the annoying cycle of disgusting click bait thumbnails. I really miss that app from 10 years ago that allows me to hide results on my search. I find this Channel for the beatem up video, Just what I was looking for, a video about beat them ups, the thumbnail is just Andore and Poison from Final fight and the text announcing beatem ups mechanics, that's all that I need. Not that annoying circles or arrows or big faces with the expression of siting on a hard bannana.

never saw this guy or the guy he works with, it just got recommended to me and I feel like I stumbled into some guy's dark, smoke filled red light room with a bunch of negatives strewn about, dozens of blunt scissors on the floor, many other craft items, with the dude ranting to himself and at the "uhm" of mine the guy just goes full blast giving me thumbnail advice cuz he's pissed and needs someone to listen to him get something out of his chest

I appreciate your videos and the shmup community on youtube. Yesterday i 1cc'd Normal Batrider with my favorite character, Strawman. I followed pearl's guide to focus on survival and not raise rank, before i mostly used Strawman's awesome bomb to destroy scenery and farm medals while i could barely dodge complex patterns, that's some lizard brain for you. My next goals are Batrider Advanced, Blue Revolver, Progear and Aero Fighters 3.

Ohhh I got an idea on how to make manly man thumbnail. Put a muscular guy but put a pinocchio with long nose in their lower body part. That would actually make people click your thumbnail. If you want it shmup related, replace pinocchio with a Vic Viper.

Hey nice vid! I do thumbnails for cult movie reviewer Brandon Tenold. Due to the subject matter he reviews, I like to make thumbnails look like pulp and B-Movie posters. Great emphasis on the monster, babe, or whatever that's the main subject while having readable text. Sounds simple, but it's color and contrast that becomes the hard part especially when there's lots of other elements in the picture.

This is great. I’d love to use it as source material for my junior high computer class. I will link and credit this video. Text as silhouette is a great suggestion across visual design especially thumbnails. Thumbnails are something that these young adults interact with all day and night.

Really great smart stuff. i think what attracts more views is fanservice and waifus, people will click on fanservice way more than a ship or gameplay, that's the only reason i clicked on a gunvein video for the first time 😂. These days an Ai can help a lot with artwork if you are struggling with character artwork for thumbnails.
