From the classic "Revenge of the Ninja" Martial arts - Karate - MMA - Kung Fu - Fight - Combat - Action - Movie - Duel - Street - Scene - Film - TaeKwonDo - Hong Kong - Van Damme - Chuck Norris
Love this movie. Love Sho Kosugi. He was trained by a wandering ninja who one day just never returned. That right there is a true ninja tale in real life
I think what made this ninja movie so epic is the number of never before seen weapons that were introduced throughout the film. It was like the ultimate introduction to ninjutsu. Other ninja movies mainly focused on swordplay and show one or two unusual types of weapons. Mostly shuriken, blinding powders, sai, or kusarigama. But this had so much firsts appearances. 1. The the marbles with the tetsubishi. 2. Koppojustu (bone breaking techniques ) 3. The sword with the hidden knife in the handle. 4. The blowgun with poison darts 5. Rope ladders 6. The spikes that he spits from his mouth. 7. The mini flamethrower 8. Even the hidden compartment th silver masked ninja used to hold his lock picks It’s always been rare to see so many ninjutsu techniques in one film and that’s why this is one of the best ninja movies ever.
I loved this movie as a kid growing up in the 80s. Sho Kosugi's ninja martial arts was so amazing, really helping to make the "Ninja" ultra cool in the US.
you must've been rich being able to afford one, I had a Laser Disc player. charged my friends admission to watch star wars on it lolz they thought i was from the future
Brilliant😅👍🏻💯 sho was the reason I took up shotokan karate when my family moved to the states when we were kids..my (siblings and I) Return of the Ninja and pray for death are my favourite films by sho.
All I wanted when the talk of the live action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie was going to happen, was to see Sho Kosugu as the Shredder. The reason besides the fact that his success as a ninja star in these films made the genre popular, was the fact that everytime I re-read the first run of books, I heard Kosugi's voice in my head everytime the Shredder spoke. It should have been him, and I felt completely justified in this sentiment when I went to see Ninja Assassin in theaters. He ESSENTIALLY WAS the Shredder in that movie.
This was the epitome of ninja flicks back in the day. The scene where the grandma gets busy with the Silver ninja was awesome too. Sho's movie "Pray for Death" was also pretty freakin awesome!
When I first saw this on youtube I was in absolute shock HOW TF DID I MISS OUT ON THIS? THIS SHOULD BE IN THE COLLECTION since I grew up with late night/mid Saturday hong-kong/ martial arts movies all my life. 😎
As a kid, this movie and all Kosugi movies were amazing. I thought of him as this mythological Ninjutsu practitioner. Reality hit as adult as I grew up as Kosugi fans. He never practiced Ninjutsu nor was he trained in it. He was a Shotokan Karate blackbelt from Japan who was hired to mimic as a Ninja. His stunt double Steven Lambert has written an amazing book who doubled for Kosugi in dangerous stunts as well as all of the gymnastics and acrobatics that Kosugi did not know how to perform
😂 Are you stupid ? Do you really know what was a ninj… Sorry the real name was shinobi and not Ninja… They were spy and wear blac… Oops navy blue suit only for night operation ! 😮
I believe that is probably not accurate. Some sites claim it but don't provide any sources. Most verified information points to him being a Karate champion and also practicing other martial arts like Kendo. In the interviews with him he doesn't mention formal Ninjutsu training, instead after he moved to Los Angeles at aged 19 to go to college, he eventually found work doing stunts in a Ninja movie and the rest is history. He never had a formal background in Ninjutsu.
He actually wrote the first drafts of that film but then the studio got involved and made a bunch of changes and Hollywood it up. I bet his pure vision for the return of the ninja to current cinema would've been epic and even better
Fue una de las mejores películas que vi en viocaset cuando mi tío tenía video casetera me gustó mucho esa película la revancha del ninja la vi varias veces tenía también el disco pero se me perdió buen recuerdo me gustaría volverla a ver otra vez
As someone who have studied fencing and love a good sword fighting in movies, i can say this one is one the best coregrapgy in western history for sure. Most of sword coreographis fell into a luttle mistake we call "signalizing". Means that you quickly shows to the other stunt/actor the next movie like a parrying etc. This one is so good you see no signalizing, also the speed is amazing and it really looks like a sword fight with ninjato.
Revenge of the Ninja, is a great film, I own it on DVD. Other good movies were Pray for Death, Black Eagle with JCVD, Ninja Assassin. I've not seen all of his movies. It's great that Kane or both of his kids are in his movies.
Ninjas appeared in a Sean Connery James Bond movie and the Kung Fu Tv series with David Carradine, but Sho Kosugi and this movie made every their popularity EXPLODE!
DAMN! WHAT A BADASS MOVIE THIS WAS BACK IN 1983. I REALIZED THAT BEFOR SHO KOSUGI BECAME A NINJA, HE WAS TRAINED BY ONE OF THE BEST MARTIAL ART EXPERTS IN HIS NATIVE COUNTRY. I ONCE HAD VHS SEEING THIS CLASSIC FILM, IT NEVER GETS OLD.
I remember when my buddy was trying so hard to get me into Sho Kosugi. As he hands me his dvds "Dude hes the real deal. The last real Ninja to ever exist. Hes an actual Ninja, supposedly people were out to kill him too"
This made me fantasize so much about being a ninja as an 11 yr old! Sadly it remained a fantasy coz my narrow minded folks didn’t believe in the martial arts and had all the wrong outdated ideas about it.
Actually, I absolutely LOVED -SO YOU HEAR ME?? LOVED!!- ...This man and these movies. I was ninja! But I do have to admit, now that I'm am old ass man, this was some crazy demonic shit 😂😂
Сколько из-за этого фильмы было унитожено "раскладушек", трубки от которых шли на мечи, сколько "суриков" было взорвано под ногами, и сколько "звездочек-ниньдзя" было выточенно на уроках труда....😂
my favorite ninja movie of all time will be the movie ninja warriors. for anyone that hasnt seen or heard of it. i recommend searching it up on youtube or online. it starts with an ninja playing a flute.. that is the actually opening then you see a bunch ninjas doing an obstical course and burying themselves under sand after that it goes fully into the proper start of the movie. fantastic ninja movie
Fun Fact: this movie, Enter The Ninja and Ninja III the domination we’re originally supposed to connect, but producers decided to market the films separately but still kept the name Ninja III .. isn’t weird that Ninja I and Ninja II don’t exist……
If I'm not mistaken, I think that this film (Revenge of the Ninja) is officially the 2nd installment in the film series. "Ninja III: The Domination" is obviously part 3. I think the 1st film in the 3 part series is called "9 Deaths of the Ninja"......but my ALL TIME personal Sho Kosugi favorite is a movie called "Pray for Death" .....he showcased both of his sons in that film alongside with him, Shane & Kane Kosugi
Its look like the real fighting. I did watch some of Ninja series since the first movie like "American Ninja" series featured Michael Dudikof. This kind of ninja show on this video really fascinating and real fighting look so real. Awesome
