This was a manslaughter case that became a murder case only because OJ got off despite overwhelming evidence. Everything about this case screams manslaughter - I don't think anyone with a legal mind has ever seriously thought of it as bona fide murder. I guess that's 22 years which is reasonable given the backstory and context supported by many witnesses.
The defense was handcuffed in the second trial. Abuse was not admissable. Only certain tapes were admissable, manslaughter was not an option for the jury. 1st degree murder or not guilty were their only instructions. No judge today would place their thumb so heavily on the outcome of a trial. After 2 prominate cases lost in LA and their first trial a hung jury, the deck was stacked heavily against them. No one doubts O.J. killed his wife, but all evidence was admissable, and a reasonable doubt existed. Like DNA evidence has come a long way, and so has the understanding of psychological trauma. New evidence, coupled with what today would be a mistrial, their case should be reexamined. Go back and review the rulings from the judge in the second trial. Don't go off media and documentaries. There is no doubt they killed their parent's. I can speak from a lifetime of abuse until I was big enough to stop it. Leave? Go where? We sympathize with women who suffer from Stockholm Syndrome, but men are expected to be immune. The LA DA has until the 26th to respond to a motion filed over a year ago. What are they afraid of?
The discussion of evidence bearing on molestation is always confused. Suppose it all happened. IF one consequence was that the brothers were in fear for their lives on that night (whether or not that fear was realistic) then you can argue imperfect self defence. But the discussion often seems to get into how much Jose and Kitty deserved punishment. Revenge is not a legal justification for murder. So when commenters emphasis how much the brothers hated their mother for enabling their father, they're really arguing against the brothers (murder for revenge) and not for them (self defence in a state of imminent fear). The issue is not whether or not the abuse occurred. The issue is whether or not the brothers were in great fear of their parents. I doubt it. Would they be afraid of walking away from a life of luxury and wealth, to get jobs and support themselves? Well, ... yes.
Lol, no, you don't just walk away. IF the abuse was factual, they would have been tied to the only life they knew. Can a tiger kill his trainer? Of course, he can, but if that tiger has been conditioned from an early age, the fear of the whip, the strength of the tiger, is irrelevant.
Monsters The Lyle And Erik Menendez Story Is So Very Incredible At The Same Time So UpSet That They Didn't Go To The Real Life Brothers To Be 100 Perecent InVolve On The Project To Make Sure There Doing Everything Right For Season 2 !
Thumb nail His shirt says “ Four keys to success “ Study Get plenty of rest Eat right You can’t see the fourth. I’m pretty sure it says “ kill your parents “
50+ witnesses all testified they were intimidated, scared and would never dare stand up to him, even his own family. Why tf is it so hard to believe the brothers were afraid too?
@@supergirl2204 I get what you mean but they seemed to have been constantly "disciplined" by their father since basically their birth be it the way they live, their future, careers and everything it would've been emotionally and physically difficult for them to break free especially from a very rich and powerful man like that. Trust me speaking from a bit of experience it is very difficult to be independent from these kind of environment especially mentally bc all they must've done was obey so they were probably not used to free thinking as much as normal people especially with all the abuse they experienced it 💯 messed their psyche up. My point is it was not easy for them at all
Who cares if it was? After what happened to them, they didn't deserve life in prison. Only someone who is an abuser themselves would say they deserve it
You can take meds that will make you depressed enough to cry in court. I don’t believe the tears are real and ask them if they were crying when they murdered their parents.
@@gooddays6924 they never cried after the murders happened but they sure went out and had a good time. They only cried after they got caught and within the courts.
I can cry on a dime. You don't need meds for that, but I'm curious where these meds were coming from in prison for two of the most guarded individuals?
@@Stormystormywould you cry over parents that abused you for years? Yeah, probably not idiot. Abuse and trauma creates a sense of disassociation and disconnection obviously
The average person would say they've paid their debt to society - 35 years in jail from March next year. What purpose does each additional year serve now? The only major issue I can see is that they'd be recognised most places they went and many don't believe the abuse story - that might make being out of jail less survivable than staying in it.
