The guy who interviews Alice Cooper has the BEST radio voice ever. haha he's perfect Anyways, Alice Cooper has always been one of my absolute favorites ever in music. Great interview
Agreed it took so long to get KISS and Def Leppard in there I know because I am from Cleveland without the Fans from Cleveland a lot of these great bands wouldn't be in there
Alice Cooper is a great guy, I love his sense of humor, and general outlook on things. I especially lovd it when he mentions old hollywood, like Groucho Marx, Mae West, and the big names from yesteryear. There is one thing that bothers me however. That is, the original members of the band never get talked about. IMO, they had as much to do with the creation of "Alice" as anybody. They created the music, set design, and general craziness as much as Vince did, and they get no credit for it! Long Live the original Alice Cooper group
I have been a fan of Alice Cooper since I was a senior in High School in 1969 when he was just starting to get noticed....He has never gotten the recognition he deserves as a song writer, and singer....His raspy sexy voice and the fact that his songs really do tell a story if people will just take the time to really listen...His ballads are warm and wonderful such as You and Me...I'll Never Cry...How You Gonna See Me Now...Only Women Bleed and I Am Made Of You....Cooper will always reign as the BEST at my house....
ALICE COOPER saved my life with his music when i was growing up as a kid, i was first introduced to his music by my best buddy in jr. high school my first ablum he gave me was billion dollar babie's and i been hooked ever since, my childhood was tough I had a rough life and an abusive step father and abusive uncle's, I grew up in poverty, and been bullied alot in school and by relatives, ALICE kept me togather and intact and helped me get through it all vince and his band kept me going
Been a fan for 4 decades, but the Alice Cooper Band years are by far the best (Alice Cooper was the name of the Band, not the singer!), excepting the Pretties for You and Schools Out albums. Nightmare was good, which is when he legally absconded with the Alice Cooper moniker. Everything written afterwards tends to be kiddy rock, talking down to a very young and naive audience. The early years were not like that. Smart guy tho', most definitely.
What a surprise! Who'd a thunk - a decent, charming, urbane, witty guy with a great memory of rock and the ability to put in prospective. Thanks for posting this!
it was his alcoholism that led him to go to rehab. the alcohol was the cause of his breakdown. i agree, he is a great guy, i've met him 5 times, he's genuinely a good person.
striker2479 I read once that he drank at least a case of beer a day while still playing a great game of golf! But yes he is a really cool guy. I've never met him personally only been a fan for 40 years but this past year I've been eating up as many interviews of his as I can and he's always seems so forthright and laid-back. Just a really cool guy whos well-respected and liked by his peers. His song says it all...I the Coolest 😏👍😎
Mari Sundell that can't be true because Alice started golf after he quit drinking. It was his addiction to replace a former addiction he had, so he wouldn't have been drinking beer while playing golf.
@@andjustjizzforall actually he started golf before he quit drinking. There are pictures of him golfing from the time he was still drinking. He just didn't play regularly but he still played from time to time. When he quit drinking he really started playing.
I’m SO privileged to have grown up and STILL be alive while Alice Cooper is still with us. I’ve had my own ups and downs with uppers and downers and the demon rum. Still do and it’s taken its toll. I just turned 66 about 10 minutes ago and Alice has been a constant in my life. Thanks buddy! I hope to meet you some day; if not here then in Heaven. ☮️💟🕊
Madonna & Prince got in before Alice Cooper. I think it's safe to say the hard rock hall of fame needs to either change it's name or stick inducting actual Rockers.
His comments about the transitory nature of stardom were the same in the 50's,60's and 70's - most artists had one or two hit records and disappeared, fake bands made up of session musicians like The Archies and Edison Lighthouse were common and one hit wonders the norm. Its just that the music 'business' is more blatantly disposable now than it was in the past.
Welcome to my nightmare and Alice Cooper goes to hell are 2 of my favourite albums of all time. Been listening to this guy since I was 11. I'm 52 now. Going to see him for the first time in October, can't wait! In them days you had a lot of great bands around. I reckon the 60s and 70s were the greatest era for rock music. It will never ever be matched again. The Doors, Sabbath, Led Zep etc are still relevant today
A very scarce few of you should GET IT or just shut up.Because you haven't the slightest idea what was what back then. If you weren't there then how could you begin to imagine?
I don't have any Rolling Stones's music, only one Beatle's Album, and No Elvis Music BUT I have at least 10 or more Alice Cooper Albums and I'm now 78 years old and I still listen to his music and enjoy it as much as I did when I was in my 20's! I am in No Way putting down the other Rock bands that I mentioned because I also consider them Great But Alice is one of my all times favorites and always will be!
congratulations Alice for being inducted to the Hall of Fame of music I have grown up listening to your music and have enjoyed every bit of it you should have been put in long time ago!!!
1:44 those are the guys voting for you...sorry, Alice, it doesn't work that way. Jann Wenner controls the whole show and decides when and if anyone gets in the R&R H of F
alice must being doing something right when people like rob zombie, kesha and dave mustaine bow down to him the only ones i have heard say they don't like alice is insane clown posse!! alice did some recording with the posse but for some reason just couldn't along with them!! icp tried to slander alice by claiming that alice has cheated on his wife several times with an "unnamed" groupie in detroit but they had no real proof to back up their claim!!
Totally stoked! Got my rare copy of Alice's bio, Me Alice, signed on Halloween Eve after his sold out show at the Pantages Theater in Hollywood. Thanks, Alice!! I'll always remember The Coop!!
Love the comments here from all of the real Alice Cooper fans, except for one. And that one snarky commenter had better PREY that their kids are never embarrassed by some "Grammar Nazi" on the internet. Thanks to you, my friend deleted her comment, and that's something no one should ever feel impelled to do. Who in hell do you think you are, anyway? How dare you twit another person for a simple misspelling, when the feeling and beauty of her idea far outstrips your petty, picayune existence?
I disagree, he often cites the songs and the songwriting as the thing that put him and the original band at the forefront, while at the same time saying that the theatrics and the gore were just the icing on the cake. Point being you have to have quality songs before you worry about the rest. Theartrics without substance to back it up wouldn't have got him far and he knows it.
As someone "who was there", it's a bit difficult watching him place his Shock Rock persona at the center of his appeal. The horror stuff was a hoot, but if you compare Generation Landslide to Unfinished Sweet, you can see it became a crutch. It would be nice of him to someday acknowledge the serious musicianship and writing contributions of the original band, as well as focusing on the finer aspects of his own songwriting. At their best, they were a rocket fueled NY Dolls, not Elvira.
As a young amateur boxer in Florida, and then as semi pro (I wasn’t great) in Arizona, I sometimes met some great people on this planet. Greatest of em, where 2 (any order ).The late Champion Alexis Arguello, and then Alice Cooper. Real Gentlemen, and where also the coolest people. Then understood real class is true greatness. It’s more than regular celebrity too.Twice in 52 yrs on earth so far. Briefly in that presence... Funny how the classiest people are so, not classist. I believe tact is the big difference. Nor cal now home. Coolest people on avg, anywhere I have been.
Alice Cooper, FAMOUSLY nice guy, great interview. Not too sure about his sentiments on the sex pistols, I feel there was a lot more to them then how he described, but none the less the guys a fucking legend.
I love watching the guest's facial reactions as Jian is spilling out all their accomplishments in the most praising fashion I've ever seen. The lack of focus on Alice Cooper in the begining, and his remark when he finally did appear on the screen, tells me that missing footage is probably hilarious.
I'm pretty sure I get what he means when he says he still performs because it's what he likes to do! I'm the same way. My band broke up in `05 and, to this day, I still REALLY miss being in stage, playing for the people that came to see/hear us and playing all those great songs we wrote over the 25 years I was with them!! It has NOTHING to do with the money (because there rarely ever was any) or ego. Sure, I would've LOVED getting loads of cash but I never did! Most shows, I was lucky to get a free pitcher of 7 Up to drink while on stage! If I went home with an extra $20 in my pocket, we did good!! Most nights I got nothing (but the 7 Up)! Some nights, I'd get a fiver! One night, the band decided to take our tiny pay in a 6-pack of beer!! I don't drink!! So, I took a bottle home for dad!! Bottom line: I REALLY miss being on stage and playing for the fans!!
Derek Haha bud. Alice cooper the band released there first record in 69 but alice formed his first band under his birth name in 64 when he was 16 years old. In 71 they had there first hit with " I'm eighteen " ozzy however started in 67 I believe.
What's holding us together is it love Listen to the man who's been touched all his life Yes he's the one who knows what to do Where is the saviour of the sidewalk life and the road that takes us to Jesus I've seen those speakers as they're twisting the truth leading the blind to their graves We still got a long way to go We still got a long way to go Yes Jesus is the only way to go Please don't waste your energy on me my friend cause Jesus is is the only way to go we'll meet again some day and you will be okay 'cause Jesus is the only way to go Jesus is speaking so why am I sleeping To live is Christ To die is gain Yes Jesus is the only way to go Yes Jesus is the only way to go Yes Jesus is the only way to go Mr. Cooper, Repent and believe in the Gospel, be baptized in the name of the Father Son and Holy Spirit. Then clean your act up for Jesus
I think that this is the only show to have both featured as guests the great Iranian-American historian/political scientist Dr. Abbas Milani and now the immortal legend Alice Cooper. This was a good interview and Jian did a fine job as always.
He did not bite the chickens head off nor dod he kill it!! Someone threw the chicken on stage cause his bamd was ripping feather pillows apart. Well Alice Cooper took the chicken and being unknown that chickens cant fly threw it to the audience. He's a city boy so didnt know chickens cant fly! The audience tore the chicken apart and threw it all bloody back to Alice!!!
You Alice so ugly and pretty at the same time trully dig your preference. A wow you are a supper star 🌟 However so humble and non show off don't yoy knows peiple just love 💘 yo
The words rock shock doc just came up in my head earlier what a coincidence smiles that I've seen the rock shock word pop up and remberence of past from knowing about u seen that word and new memory's from my lifeline and such and other bands good memorys it was like a shocking live moment when the words appeared in my head thinking of the word recognition come into my mind kewl
I was privileged to have seen Alice in Sydney but it was a disappointing show, only 1 hour. My brother and I theorized the reason was the arena was only half full, so he just quit. The hour was show was still great and I love him! I say this because he made a comment about playing in front of 100 people or 100,000
Odd that he would say The Doors have all died...only Morrison had died when this was recorded. Now Ray's gone, but John & Robbie are still going strong.
🥀Amazing interview with Alice Cooper he's so creative and a powerful artist in the music industry. I love him for whom he has become. He sat in front of me in Rock n Roll concert and he was the real deal kept everything under control that was in 1975. God Bless you Alice Cooper your so much loved from my family🥀✌🥀☝️
After 7 platinum albums and veritable creation of the light-show & stage performance theatrics, FINALLY he has been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame . . . he can finally see acceptance after 45 years of being a legend. A brilliant man with a dark humour that entertained, enlightened, & a virtual Buddha of having lived through, contributed to the industry. Nowadays music? I think even Alice Cooper finds a gap in reasoning in that people can be deluded into wallowing in mediocrity.
