Saw them open for Siouxsie and the Banshees at the Arlington Theater in Santa Barbara (California) in 1986. They kind overshined the main act.👍 But overall, Daniel: you rock! Lyrics, music writing, innovative sounds, and sweet spirit - real one of a kind in cosmic time. Keep that inspiration flowing....🌄🎶 You're a "...slice of life..."
In my defense, I only discovered his music about six months ago and immediately fell into a rabbit hole that I haven't found my way out of yet. With so much variation, there is absolutely no way to classify him as any particular genre. He is just all over the place. I totally respect that. He lit a spark in my mind that I thought had died a very long time ago.
Extremely well put. I've often thought recently that pretty much everything's been done in Rock and there's a narrower window for originality but he's always effortlessly infiltrated that window.
Its so true. This interview from 2009 when music and selling stood on a precipice. It just fell into a deep abyss. Free music on youtube. No one is really buying records or even MP3s for that matter. My favorite record of Mr ASh's at the moment is the complition TOnes on Tail record called Everything! Its like a drug for your Ears! addictive &Fantastic!
@3:15 That's really hard to find even as a listener! My old great loves in the "industrial" metal/dance genre lost their stride and therein ushered in a sonic desert of digging for "juice"... industrial was dead for me as far as anything fresh. Then by accident found the evolved and equally fierce "darker sounds"(kiran vadya = dj Hefty , circa 2010-2020, see distortion special, swamp, freakz et al) which kept going as a constant soundtrack for 5 incredible years before it self immolated into ridiculously high bpms unlistenable land. One or two gems on an ep here and there aren't enough. It's very dry out there for me r n. Think my Bauhaus, Tones on Tail & L&R need some dusting off in case I've the chance to christen a worthy vehicle with.
