We had a party at high school in The Hague in 1968, just one year before Venus was released. And some genius managed to have Shocking Blue play for us the entire evening. They played this song as well of course. That was fabulous :-) A class mate of mine even danced with Mariska during a break because I promised him a beer if he would dare to ask her. I could imagine this guy Paul Overman has been grateful to me for the rest of his life :-)
and mine too my friend. one of the best bass players ive ever had the pleasure to know, along with jack bruce (cream) - both gone but NEVER forgotten by us true heads. PEACE
I can listen to this a thousand times and it still has the same level of energy. Chainsaw guitar, strict drums, legendary bass line and one of the best world-class vocals of her time. Absolutly love it! 😎✌
ZO goed he? Ik heb vroeger nooit verder geluisterd dan Venus. Door Nirvna kwam ik terug bij Love Buzz. En nu vind ik het helemaal geweldig. Prachtige vrouw ook.
I found it on a zero skate video, Zeros New Blood Tommy Sandovals part. I've been jamming this song since 2005. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-DE2Lyd1_zBg.html

such a GREAT band! in USA, they are barely known today, and even then usually as a "one-hit-wonder" .. "the band that made that song Bananarama remade" - but they are so much more. And anyone who has the interest to delve into their musical catalog quickly realizes what a talented group this was. They tackled many different genres in way that not many people did at the time (similar to Blondie) - always with an addictive, catchy hook that yanked you in. And then there's Mariska Veres! What a great voice! Deep, husky, strong, soulful and with that irresistible thick Dutch accent.
Simple magic ... everything seems to be simple. And the soul is blissful)) I have been listening for 40 years periodically and nothing has changed - Mariska is super !!!
Before loneliness will break my heart, Send me a postcard darling. How can I make you understand? I wanna be your woman. Here, here I'm waiting for a little sign, Waiting 'til the end of time. Send me a postcard darling. Send me a postcard now. Send me a postcard darling. Send me a postcard now. I can't take the lonely night, I need someone I can turn to. Look out for the day I get a little sign, I want to know you're all mine, now.. now please don't let me down, ain't no lover like me in town. Send me a postcard darling. Send me a postcard now. Send me a postcard darling. Send me a postcard now.
@ryan williams the hell you talking about you fucking loser goddamn I've never thumbed down to comment as fast as your fucking stupid one in my whole life..
@ryan williams In general, if you are English-speaking, it is easy for you to perceive the text, but for me, as a Russian-speaking, it's good that someone wrote the text. you dumbass
Mariska Veres! missing you 4 ever !! thank you so much for great music my dear and Rest in Peace my dear traveller musician !!!! hug from The Hague, Holland.
Wow! I mean, Wow! I just heard this on the radio for the first time in my life and I'm 62! At first I thought it must be some deep cut of some early Rush, but then I realized it was a woman singing! Blown away! I had to hear the song again when I got home. Shocking Blue! I remember when Venus was a hit! Why wasn't Postcard a bigger hit? It's AWESOME!!!
Had to give up on 'Hanna' after the second episode. Too silly for this 70 year old. But it brought me back to this song. My brother and I drove my van from SoCal to Texas in '71 to go to college. The only cassettes we had for the trip were this, a Black Sabbath and Aqualung.
I had never even HEARD of this band until I decided to start watching "Hanna" tonight. I haven't heard much else worth listening to YET but THIS song is on my list now
has a feel of somebody to love, cant decide which i like better. both amazing. only just found out they wrote love buzz! how is this band not as well known as the legendary bands? they rock!
just love shocking blue! they were very punky too! mariska!? 😍 isnt she just the woman of my dreams! just love her dark, smouldering looks! they are so underrated! but to the fans they stand on the shoulders of giants!

England 1968. Caroline gone, only Radio One to keep us happy - unless you can hear Radio Veronica ! Fond memories of hearing this & other Dutch bands, most of whom never made any impression on the UK charts, blasting across the North Sea !
I was born way too late yo,...that must have been an awesome time period. Just discovered The Doors aswell and now this, damit, anybody got a time machine ?!
I think this is one of the first Rock Song isnt it? After the era of rock n roll 50s to 60s and this song from 1968 but its just sounds like modern rock.. What a revolutioner music
I borned in 1998 but I remember this songs record from my early childhood ^^ I am so emotional now I can understand this song at least:D Record is still at home, I will save it. "Sen mi a kostak narenn"
That brought me here too, but I recognized Mariska's voice immediately. Just didn't know this one. Those folks over at Hightown did some fingering through their parents' album collection.
