yes and this makes a lot of sense my husband and i are back in Texas for 3 weeks to get our new place ready for us to move into. we spent time here last september and got some of this place decluttered when we came back Everything we did was undone but my inlaws.. i had a massive panic attack. my husband and i are highly stressed from this place we are going to declutter as much as we can before we have to move from wisconsin to here. (my inlaws are no longer staying at the place we are. Thank the Lord for that)

Sadly, covid19 and the lockdowns and masking and keeping your distance from one another were a big relief for me. No one in the house, no one out. No need to rush the decluttering process, or doing it at all, because no one was going to be coming over anytime soon, no one just dropping by or invited over. And more sadly, I'm continuing to not invite people over bc I'm embarrassed that my house isn't immaculate, like everyone supposedly is/was during the beginning of covid - all this time to rearrange/declutter our closets, etc., take on new hobbies, start a side hustle.....and here I am, still haven't done anything noticeable . I feel like I'm going to forever be a hermit and not invite people in bc I'm the queen of procrastination. I want it all to look magazine perfect, and I'm unable to achieve that goal. 😞

What I find helps is using a timer. Set it for 5 or 10 minutes a day to start and just pick up the visual rubbish but put it in the bin so you have finished the task. You might even decide to go longer or another 5-10 minutes. Don’t look at the full room and feel discouraged but pick a corner or space and start there. When you feel more comfortable/confident you can extend the time. Remember you didn’t bring everything into your house in a day don’t expect to get rid of it in a day. Wishing you the best of luck and remember you can do it. 👏👍💪🙏

Remember...very few of us live in a picture perfect house! Any improvement is an improvement... I've had to come to terms with this myself! I have a physical disability and cannot do a lot of things without assistance. Unfortunately, I often find myself waiting for other people to find the time to help. I try to focus on the things I can do to make some improvement, no matter how small. After 3 years, I am beginning to see progress! Being owned by 7 cats, I will never have a picture perfect house. But, focusing on the positive of what I can reasonably do, helps to keep me motivated. Don't try to live up to what you think others expect you to do. Rather, do whatever small steps you can can do. Be consistent, and progress will follow. Seeing even small improvements can bring you joy and satisfaction! You CAN do it!

This is why I like to reset my kitchen every night. If I wake up to a sink full of dishes or a mess, then I automatically feel stressed. Stress definitely makes chronic pain worse, so if anyone has that, find ways to eliminate stress, one way is to have a simplified home.

I can only listen to you at playback speed .75X. I did try .5X, which is weird, but I like it. Like you had a stroke, which is my speed.

I just found you today! And having guests over I can totally relate to! We have lived in our house for 11 years now, and NEVER had people over for anything! I'm tired of it. My husband is tired of it. We both are frustrated and weighed down as soon as we walk in the door. "on to the rest of the video" - LOL

This is so good! You gave a window into our past: not inviting people over due to clutter, not having a calm atmosphere in the house, not being able to be focused & productive when surrounded by mess. I have been systematically decluttering for 5 years and we now have so much more peace in our home! I forwarded this video to my adult daughter, as she is beginning the decluttering process and I think these stats could be very helpful for her to see the health, social, and financial benefits of living with less.

Oh yes, in our family who hosts the gatherings has been based on who can clean up their house in time...this used to be the great debate- but the debate is over now that we are pleased to offer to host as we have tackled our clutter... it’s become quicker to reset back to the relaxing, feel good space it’s meant to be and we enjoy the company so much more!💐
