It could of definitely held more weight if it the weight stayed more even and center. Even if it that was the limit the fact that a little shell like that could hold that much weight is mind boggling.
@@Geekman16 SSomeone should do the math as to what forces a 50 p;ound weight dropped from that height would be and say that THAT'S what a shell could withstand.
That’s a red slider shell (water turtle), if you leave a shell like that to the elements it will break down into sectioned pieces pretty quickly. I want to see you test a land turtle shell like a box turtle, their shells are stronger and don’t fall apart easily, I bet they’d perform even more impressively even though they’re smaller on average
The shell broke due to the force of the weights falling onto the plate not the shear weight of them resting on it so I say that the turtle shell could have held more weight than that (probably around 700 pounds) before it broke due to the shear amount of weight on top of it. Maybe set up a better rig and do the test again some time
yeah you still shouldnt buy raycons they are selling some generic chinese ones which they branded, you can get the same for cheaper and probably even better ones for the same price
Should have put the weights in a square pattern for increased stability, rather than 2 towers. This would have let you put more weight on as it only crushed when the weights fell
A live turtle could probably hold more because of the muscles and internal pressure and intact ribs and stuff... not saying it would survive but the shell wouldnt break at the same weight
Shell could've absolutely held more, like other have pointed out it only broke once the weights dropped rather than the weights dropping because of the shell breaking. Heck, the biggest tortoises in the world you could balance a mid-size car on top of them and their shell would be no worse for the wear.
Where did Elliot come from? Has he always been here? I feel like I remember a time before Elliot, but I also feel like he's been around forever... Either way, can we keep him?
I really like the care free structure of this video 😂 Dan is a good personality but this is a nice little change up for the channel. I just wish when he shot the basketball and turned and talked about the earbuds he would have missed for comical reasons lol
Puts hand over the turtle shell, 8-9 inches. "About 8" "We'll go 10" You know what they say about the size of a man's hand.... The size of a man's hand is directly related to the size of a man's hand.
I remember seeing somewhere that turtles also have nerve endings in their shell, so they can feel it being touched as well. It is genuinely a part of their body.
@@Geekman16 that does make sense as i did think that being as the shell appeared to be directly connected to the spine so connected to the nervous system made it plausible it can feel it like a limb, seen people "itch" their pet turtles shell and they react like scratching a dog behind the ears, loving it
Turtle shells (aside from soft shelled turtles) are made of bone with only very thin keratin scales just on the outside. The bone part is permanent and grows with the animal, whereas the scales are shed and replaced over time...if you keep a turtle you will find the shed scales in his or her tank
My father has a tortoise that is 57 years old and once ran him over in his transit Luton fully loaded with building supplies, about 3 tons and didn’t make a dent
It could have held more looks like as only broke when the weight came crashing down on the steel plate! Maybe time for a rematch! Better rig next time.
