Di, my bhaiya has cleared CA in first attempt and CFA level 2, still he says that Engineers are given more preference, even during selection in IIM Ahmedabad, Why is it so?
As shared in the video, MUST work on your soft-skills, especially CAs. Here's the previous video on Public Speaking: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pBUPOqD0Xk8.html
Will CFA 1 will help, as it might distinguish us from compitition? or there is no point putting efforts only to do CFA1..(is valualbe only if both levels of CFA is done)?
Well let's say if one (Btech grad+ plus 2 years work ex in IT company) gets admit for IIFT for their MBA-IB. Then he will definitely land up in a global Bank IB role right ? Please let me know if u could get any answer for this
3:05 yeah harsh and brutal truth. It's very hard to digest why engineers (specially IITians) moving towards CAT/Banking/Finance field despite the fact that all these field directly or indirectly related to Commerce Stream😑
@@apoorvgoel9265 This is a lame reason to state. The same student who endured stress to clear jee can also work hard and endure stree to build successful career in engineering as well but that's were they fail because of lack of skills, hence they make a rapid shift to IB and this happens oly in India. Other countries are flexible and most of the investment bankers have degree from commerce background.
@@minute7209 no lol , they don't fail in skills , When you are 16 , you don't know what you want to do in life and if you are bright you end up taking science , and becoming a engeneer And hence most smart kids are in engeneering, and when they figure out what they like , they switch fields and that's why not just commerce , every field is dominated by engineers
Thank you so much for such helpful videos that you bring for us .....it really helps a lot. And yes, we would be eagerly waiting for the next video regarding back end roles.
Hi Shweta, I am following your content for the last 2 years and learned a lot. Can You Make a Video on Corporate Finance roles and How to prepare for the same?
This was an informative video- Almost every youngster wants to get into IB these days- Campus Placement is the best route to get into IB. Agree with the point on science background - as you can understand the nuances of an industry quickly
Very insightful and informative. Thank you so much. Please make a complete playlist covering various aspects of investment banking jobs and field in general. Thanks again!
Thanks for this one. And one request, actually more than one request 😁 is that make such eye opener videos on all the functions and domains possible which one can target post-mba.
Guess it’s important to reflect on skills and focus areas: risk management (esp market and credit), financial instruments accompanied by very high level of stress appetite (unfortunately). Trading in commodity market is also a good entry point for IB. But in my own view understanding of risk and risk based decisioning is key to a successful career in IB.
I have watched many videos in you tube but I can say this is one of the best videos which really cleared all my doubts regarding investment banking selection criteria 🙏🙏🙏😊😊😊😊 Thank you very much.
Thank you for valuable input. Please can you make a video on how to get into IB back end roles ? Really wanted to know how to get relevant work ex for IB. Thank you 😊
Thank very much Ma'am for this insight ful videos . please make a video on back office role and kindly do mention how a BSc student can step into Investment Banking.
The most plausible reason I think global IB's hire engineers over CA and other degree is because Indian engineers are the most malleable creatures. Think it this way, an average Indian engineer under goes 4 years of engineering, would have landed a boring mass recruitment job in IT/ ITES, Civil, mechanical domian and worked slogging his ass off for 2-3 years to eventually dislike his job and its prospects. He then decides to bell the friggin CAT, learn finance from scratch, gets professional certification course whilst maintaining an above average CGPA and if all of this was not enough he was learning the actual skills that mattered in an IB role. (Programming language- Python/R, visualization- power BI/ TABLEAU and quant). Now if this dosen't make the poor chap get a decently paying IB job, then I don't know wtf an Indian engineer would do?
Kudos! Great work. I wanted to ask this question, do top B-schools have a condition that if a student is already placed or got a PPO then he won't be allowed to sit for other job interviews or maybe similar kind off scenario? Could you please elaborate if they have such conditions? Thanks in Advance :)
Hey shweta!! Thanks for revealing the truth and the reality regarding the role... After your i found that its very hard for an average student to get into IBs role. Please make a dedicated video regarding how to get back office role.
Yes please make a video on how to get good back office roles. What do companies like Bain, McKinsey prefer while recruiting freshers from top institutes?
Thankyou so much, it gave a lot of clarity that what should we do & what not, please make such detail video or series of videos on consulting for Freshers, previously I know you posted a interview, & that was great but if you give Consultimg aspirants a plan of action while preparing for CAT -Freshers how can we increase our chances to get into consulting that would be really very helpful, because there are lot of videos on internet but I only trust you
Thank you so much, can you please build on what you'd like to know? Because afaik, there's no discrimination on campus either by professors or by recruiters, so everything is same.
HELLO shweta di.. I'am a Food technology and biochemist engg currently in 4th year I heard about the FABM program. But i have lots of doubt about this course can u make a separate video in this topic.. Thanks in advance😇
Hi di!! I have a doubt....you talked about niche in video on profile building. I like cosmology and astronomy, I keep reading about it. Will it be okay if I build my niche around it, since this topic is not related to business and anything of that sort and it is kind of reachsearch oriented topic. I am a bit confused about it. Thank you so much for all the efforts, encouragement and motivation. Lots of love 💕🤗
make same video about getting consulting summer placement for engineer of tier 2/3 college and spikes required for summers as well as finals and other relevant skills , certifications , courses . would very helpful . this video is also good .
Although science grads might be preferred (I am guessing for their mathematics exposure), can I not bolster my chances for the shortlists through doing quality and rigorous equity research?! (Or independent project/work ex related to any other instrument where one's interests lie?). I still feel that with finance related experience, conceptual clarity about fin analysis and good academic performance in quant disciplines in the MBA or getting an institute rank might allow students from non-science stream to perhaps compete decisively, if not land a role in IB?
Ma'am Can you make a Video on What are the subjects we have to study in the 1st year of B-School and how to prepare for them. As being from Non-Engineering and non-Commerce background , it would give people like me some insights about the subjects we'll have to face in the B-school beforehand. Thank you so much for your hard work till date.
Thank you so much for the video didi. Well, can always expect to get the clear truth about roles & roadmaps to get to them from you. Please make similar videos about General Management, MBB and Big4 consulting, FMCG marketing etc. too if possible :)
Bring vedios.... analysing...resume of ur batchmates of IIM A...so we can get much insights of IIM students....and even get to know...wt all they did as for profile building... M asking coz...most of top US B schools...focuses on extra curricular... activities... inspite u get low GMAT...they will give admission.... soo...plzz do these vedios dii...
Please make a video on how to get a backend role in this IB companies, research related works in consulting (MBB), If someone is not in tier -1 college (campus placement not an option). For example I am in Xavier's, Kolkata.
Hi Shweta, I just wanted to ask what type of work experience is generally preferred for CAs? Or is it just the time period that is important? If so, what would be the ideal period?
Hi Shweta, I am an engineer working as a software developer. I'll surely target the CFA, but is it necessary to get relevant work experience in IB Backoffice roles ?
one doesn't need any specified degree to be Investment Banker, you can simply take a 6month certification and become a Analyst, obviously if you have a CFA degree it's good but the time and amount it takes to become a CFA is more as compared to any certification. What is advisable is that go for a certification and take up a job gather relevant experience and decide the field you actually want to take e.g. front/middle/back office then eventually go for the global IBs you can get a certification from Imarticus, Data Trained, wall Street etc.. Data is preferred bcz they are also providing a LGCA certification w/c is acceptable in 170 countries.
Dii ...U have discussed almost everything regarding MBA in ur vedios....But plzz make vedios like... 1) Bring students and explain us ..their coaching journey...from which coaching did they prepare? What all activities did they do...for their profile building... 2) Bring students...who have got into top US ivy league colleges...by clearing GMAT...their coaching journey... resources they used...all pros and cons of doing MBA in US...M asking all this coz...as u r a public figure...u can get in touch to them... easily...which will help students like us...do dream...to get into...top B schools
Hello, your videos really very helpful, can you please tell that while doing sectionals mock should i Target on percentile and accuracy or on attempting more questions
Thank you :) During sectionals, target attempt rate first and foremost. Accuracy can be improved after attempts are stabilized. Analysing the sectionals will take care of your learning from the questions. But, sectionals will truly help you with improving attempts, especially if the weaker areas.
Hey!! Please tell what should a student entering into bcom hons and targeting IB do to improve soft skill as well maintain the grades at college and prepare for CFA
