I think Pete and Judy knack each for these rituals. Whatever their relationship, it's an abomination. It's not even rocket science to see that Pete is mastermind of this whole saga, invited Judy to help. It actually all started with Pete Kpaing May's parents. Those kids could even be Pete's children. Yul is just a pawn to some extent. Yul doesn't have any brains, Pete has, Judy also has an evil nature and the "doesn't fear" attitude which makes it perfect to Pete to execute his planned mission. It's just all went wrong as May fought back.
