You clearly know not what u speak of. And it's even more obvious that your looking to talk shit. Because this isn't a copy. It's simply a better built similar design. What an ignorant comment fr
ok, standard 5/8 wave 3db gain ground plane with a matching network that should be efficient and handle lots of power. As long as this thing does not cost more than a similar antenna should be fine.
Very good antenna ..i personally like the spt over all ither grounplanes ..i have modified mine just a little ..but the linear marching network of the spt makes its amazing..the current at the matching network is retarded..the collosal and the shokwave follow right behind.. now this is my personal experience and opinion.. the v 5/8 s are decent bigginer groundplaines ..but the shokwave and spt and coiliy and colosal are great
look's good I have a super penetrator that is 22feet 6in long I have had it for 34 years it has been through all kind of weather from up state NY to sc it was hit by lighting and still going strong I did have to replace the coax
Gabe dorpinghaus it performs like a 5/8 wave antenna. The advantages are the durability and the matching network. You might see a slight on the air improvement between this antenna and a maco v5000. The difference is you should never have to replace this antenna.
I had issues with Maco 5/8 water or ice on that crappy piece of braid removed that and put a cover piece 12ga Romex on it instead solved that issue but the Maci is not wide-banded enough it covers 20 channels - or + from normal 40 channels . A antron covers more range cb 26.805 to 28.500 1.5 swr . If the wide banding can be achieved be great. The advanti sigma 5/8 from 70"s I had used like new condition. With 100 ft coax SWR 1.5 at 26.515 and at 27.805 @ 100watts was best antenna thick aluminum too not flimsy . I know the ring can be pulled and something similar can be done .
I popped my 4 pill carl built $700 amp bc high swr. I have 1.1 during good weather and rain comes and boom 2/1! I considered putting caulk or silicone or liquid tape on that connector and the exposed wire. Sounds like replacing it with covered wire and then sealing each end with caulk would do the trick? What size wire did you run? Anything else you did to fix the swr?
Hey buddy have a question for you,I think I know the answer already but will a Shockwave be better then a Anthon 99? I'm looking for something that reflects alot of the white noise that we get during the daytime,,seems like the 99 is a noisey ass antenna
Is this still available. I ask because this is obviously old video now. But I'd like to know and how much it is. I'm very interested. My antron 99 just isn't gonna do well with my 16 pill and driver lol
bace kind of like the colossal 10k 2 bolts not 4 like 10k matching network like inersepter 10k I wonder if Jay in the movine has seen it the trombone matching network looks the same the calossal 10k antenna is different
I'll have to say, It's kind of humorous when someone copies something so well they even copy the mistakes in the design. Mine was S3 where the Penetrator on the same pole, height, radio, coax was S5, 40 miles away into the valley below. I "fixed" the I-10K design error and BAMM! - S5! At least the Shockwave's isn't as severe, but I've fixed a couple of those, too.
@Transmitters 'R' Us I am no Antenna Engineer by any means. I am glad the Shockwave is not as severe-LOL. I will check back to see if AH responds. Have a great week, 21 in S.C.
Anyone know how long the Trombone is from one end to other? Also does anyone know the measurement where the coax connection connects to the trombone? The Trombone network is the only difference between the Penetrator, Avanti Sigma 5/8, Maco 5/8, and the Starburst 5/8 from what I can see. For those who live in an icy environment in the winter will probably discover the Trombone net work doesn't like ice build up. Maybe if the trombone was covered with heat shrink or a like covering, wouldn't have this issue? When doing the comparison, I am only talking about the electrical make up so to speak and not the physical makeup comparison. This particular antenna looks well built. With all of this said, just another one's opinion!
calossal 10 k zero five antenna he forgot to mention in this video I wonder why I got 10k it kicks ass 4 bolts on the bace the pegs the ground planes go on are drilled an weld in place
@@Rooster_Radio Hello Rooster, I recently purchased a tower and it came with a shockwave and no paper work. Do you have any info on tuning this antenna ? I assume the antenna was tuned properly because it was a high end set up but I can see none of the marks remaining. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Maco V5/8?!? - It makes a *Penetrator* look like a Baby! I have one fully telescoped down & leaning against the wall 4' behind me. However, these are *designed & built incorrectly* out of the box. I corrected mine and saw 3 S-units gain at 78 miles. The I-10K is also designed incorrectly. They'll *tune* fine, you can *tune* a steak knife, but the pattern sucks without the necessary design correction. ...nice lugie, by the way - 1:56
A few things: 1. This video is several years old and I no longer sell the antenna. 2. This particular antenna has been up since the day this video was taken and has had zero maintenance and has performed well. 3. Many antenna manufacturers use hose clamps which work just fine. How many maco beam antennas have been up dozens of years using hose clamps? MANY.
@@jimsimpson4385 Don't typically find any interest or purpose answering questions for someone that's initial comment is an insult. If it's such a poor design why would you have any interest?
