We lost both Shockwave and its driver today at Battle Creek. Chris Darnell was by all means an amazing showman who even with a machine that would make it hard to be humble, was one chilled-out nice guy. The Airshow world will never forget this man’s showman spirit and the machine he handled so well.
I remember watching this in person it was so loud and amazing, Chris had balls of steel and some. He definitely went out doing what he loved, my respects to his family and loved ones

End of an era, ShockWave just crashed on July 2, 2022 after 30+ years. Chris Darnell was killed while driving ShockWave at Battle Creek Field of Flight Air Show and Balloon Festival in Michigan when ShockWave crashed about mid field Saturday July 2, 2022. He will be missed.

Much respect! Saw this guy race a helicopter at an airshow and I thought it was just for show and obviously the heli could win. The heli was ahead off the start and then boom out from behind a cloud of smoke came this truck just flying down the strip! No contest! It was really the highlight of the whole show for us! He will always be remembered!
Stood about 50 feet from one of those jet cars taking off down the track and I swear to God the pressure made my chest feel like it was going to cave-in!!! F-ing awesome!!!💯
This kind of made my day. Sometimes I wonder, “what’s the point?” And then I see this, and I remember. The point is to build a truck with rocket engines that can go over 300mph while spewing fire out of its exhaust pipes.
If you get the chance to see this truck at a drag strip in person do it, because it's not often you can be so close while it's running at other venues. I saw it at Moroso Motorsports Park, now Palm Beach International Raceway, the experience of the heat from the flames, the whine from the engines, and the thud that hits you when he hits the afterburners all coming together when you're standing 80 feet away is indescribable.
Even if you have fire coming out of you you are still faster than the light from the fire can reach you. You won't even notice the fire let alone benefit from its light.
Im not gonna outright say "this is stolen," but it has an uncanny resemblance to a comment made about 9 months before this was posted. Again, not saying this is stolen, you could have had similar ideas and decided to put it down, I've done the same thing myself multiple times. I thought this one of dumbest things until I saw it in person. Absolutely mind blowing one of the coolest things I have ever seen. He raced an airplane with a head start passed it like it was standing still.
I am not even from the US (Europe) and had this exact one as a little toy truck... when i heard of a jet truck crash, i was sorta praying it wasn't this one. And it was.
