If one looks upon and considers the shoe, simply as an engineering structure, then I would say that the Norwegian Construction Logic is one of the most robust methods there is. If one stares carefully at 14:19, the inside and outside cut recesses, forming the near peripheral protruding ridge on the outer, lower surface of the insole, destined to pull the outer sides close in and hold the upper part at the correct foot width, while the inside recess hides the stitches, the outer corner recess, pulls in the upper part so tightly, which, makes it watertight and when later rolled or turned over, it forms the welt, as an integral component with the upper part. The solidity and integrity of that hidden " junction" or joint, are so beautiful and elegant at the same time, and the welt is effectively doubled up. The smooth surface on the uppers makes it very military but so elegant and serene, while the contours and the thickness of the outer soles make it a perfect gentleman's masculine shoe, which with the warm materials included, would have no problem to track and walk on the Norwegian icy roads, to return home, the wearer of those shoes, to his family, after a day's work, in what the Norwegian weather can throw at those sturdy well-engineered and structured shoes.

Have you ever tried using wooden pegs in the arch area instead of a McKay stitch? That the way that cowboy boots are made.

Beautiful, massive props on some incredible work! Just had to ask about the dye though… ain’t it a long trip around the barn staining yellow, green , blue… etc .. all to get black shoes? Why not just get some black dye?
