THIS is what a proper unbiased review should look like! The problem with most motorbike gear reviews is that they're made by the distributors etc. who have never rode for any decent length of time in it. So they go over specs and the looks and clearly have vested interest in selling stuff, doesn't matter if good or not. So your time spent and very thorough and insightful opinion is very refreshing and so much appreciated, thank you.
Thank you. Exactly the reason I started the channel. You can never find unbiased opinions, so thank you for taking the time to comment. really appreciated. thanks
I was in the market to replace my old Bell Bullett and was ready to hit the button on this lid - reduced to £303 on a Black Friday promotion. I'm glad I checked your review first Toni. The ventilation concerns and the lack of ratcheted visor positions are dealbreakers for me I'm afraid. The revised Bell Bullitt's are supposedly improved with a more comfortable fit, so I may give them another try. Top work Toni, ride safe pal.
wish I'd waited till black friday at least... I paid £334 for mine just a few weeks ago. I love the styling of the Glamster and actually waited a while until I purchased it but not impressed on the whole, especially with the price tag. Interested to hear/ see more on the bell bullitt! safe riding and happy black friday shopping!
I feel that i must add my findings after owning this helmet for 6 months or so, i have had no wind squealing noise at all, haven’t noticed any reflection with the pinlock plus I wear glasses in the helmet. There is a vented position that you can put the visor in rather than having it fully locked in place, it really is a great helmet and would strongly recommend it.
Great review nice to know about the visor only having 2 positions and the poor ventilation I’ll have to have a good think about it now. The biltwell lane splitter looks like a good option very good ventilation and a different look about it.
Thanks for the honest review mate. Is it possible to leave the visor open just a crack? Do that with my current shoei, but that has a ratchet system. Ride like that pretty often too
In Malice's Wake Official hi. You can open the visor slightly, but it will flip up or down if going at medium speeds. Also the visor sits right on the eyeline so it is distracting. It’s a lovely helmet but as many modern retro helmets it has its flaws, but if your looking for a modern retro helmet i think they all have their pitfalls. Hope this helps
Great review. I wear glasses and gloves all the time all seasons. So all the cons you mentioned are dealbreakers for me. I wanted the Glamster to be good so badly I sorta talked myself into accepting its shortcomings as minor inconveniences. But after watching your video I've decided it's just not gonna work. Thanks Toni.
Hi Ethan. Yes it’s a shame, but from what I’ve read I think most modern retro helmets seem to favour style over substance. For the money there are definitely better options out there, but they probably won’t offer the same retro sleek, so it’s really what compromise you are willing to make. If you wear glasses and ride in the winter months I would not ad I’ve the glamster as that would be when it’s performing at it’s worst. Hope this helped, thanks for taking the time to comment. Safe riding 👍
Was going for this helmet as Arai is even worse not to mention all the others on the market… seems like no one can produce a retro helmet that just works… 😔
Yes it’s a shame the balance of style quality and performance doesn’t seem to have been reached with these modern retro helmets just yet. Not that I’ve found or heard of currently
Helmet gave me a headache after some hours riding = Constant fog on the visor. Lot of wind noise. I had to use visor on 90 % open position. Only good about the helmet is that it looks good. Very disappointed.
Yeah I get you there. It gave me a headache from the reflection from the pin lock, but that’s a pin lock issue I guess. However the ventilation as you mention is so bad you can’t ride without the pinlock. I can identify with a lot of what you have said. Thanks for sharing. Safe riding
nizamknight thank you for your comments. Yes I felt the same. I purchased my Glamster simply from doing my homework and watching RU-vid reviews, all of which were positive. A different experience with actually owning it. I must say it is a nice looking helmet , comfortable to wear and the pin lock lense is great at not fogging, but at £350 thats a hefty price tag. I think you could get used to the negatives over time, bite that money there may be better options on the market. Anyway hope it helped. Take care
@@ToniReviews hope you do more! Your review feels honest and genuinely from a consumer point of view, not from someone trying to sell me the product. Can you review other helmets? Maybe the Bell Eliminator? Cheers!
Thank you. I try to give as honest a review as possible as like anyone, when your spending your hard earned cash you want to know the pros and cons. Hopefully it’s helped. Thanks for commenting, it’s appreciated. Take care, ride safe
Thanks for the thoughts 👍 in my opinion there are a few more improvements needed to justify the price and make it a more practical option things such as airflow would be first on my list. Thanks for sharing
This is the only review saying it has that squealing noise. Lots of unsponsored reviews saying it’s the best , quietest, high speed retro helmet. Is it possible it doesn’t fit your head ?
Hi. The squeal you can hear as I ride. Of course the review is a personal opinion and experience. I ride mainly with shoei helmets as they fit my head shape the best so I actually like the shoei brand. I just don’t particularly like this helmet. I think it’s overpriced for what it is and how it performs in the real world. These are obviously my experiences and opinions which is what’s great about RU-vid.
Thank you very much for this honest and insightful review. I was all drawn in by the looks and the brand but then now that I know about the ventilation issues and the limited range for the visor, I am seriously reconsidering.
Bedtime Story Films many thanks. I’m glad you found it helpful. Yes I was disappointed with the helmet overall considering the price. It has a lovely shoei fit and feel but there are some limitations as I mentioned. However it seems to be a common feature with modern retro helmets ans not just shoei, so I’ve read. A case of style over substance in some cases, and I think the general attitude is that it’s just a given that this is the case- which as a consumer I wasn’t too happy with. So just a heads up if you are looking at a modern retro helmet that this may be the case. I’d be interested to see how this fairs in the summer. I guess it will be riding with the visor completely open due to ventilation. We will see. Good luck with the search, take care.
Fully agree with your comment. I also thought about buying this helmet. One issue was the weight with 1300gr. But under the line it is an old construction with all disadvantages. Very good report. Thank you. Regards from Austria.
I've had the Glamster for about a year (June 2020).The clear shield that came with the helmet at the time was thin, flimsy and easy to scratch. Shoei has released a new version of that shield that is much more robust (CPB-1V) that has a recessed section for the pinlock to sit in so it doesn't come in contact with the gasket. I had to buy the new version as the scratches on the original shield were becoming a hazard. I'm very happy with the new shields (clear and tinted) but Shoei should have recalled the helmets and given a new version to people with the old version. As far as the warning on the Pinlock Evo regarding daytime use only, it's really only for legal purposes as my other non shoei helmet that came with a Pinlock had the same exact warning. I also have the Ex Zero, and while it's a great helmet, I wear it in the summer and only in low bug areas (city vs mountains). I like the low profile of the Glamster, but both the Glamster and the Ex Zero really require me to pull the straps out with a lot of force when I remove my head or they just rip my ears off.
I felt the quality of the composite materials used felt like a shoei, quality wise, but there are many design flaws. How is the Arai performing ? It seems many of the modern retro designs favour form over functionality
thankyou , you saved me a whole lot of stress and dissapointment. i was just about to buy one...... but on the other hand this vid is going to cost me more ££ by buying the arai rapide [ probably ]
vaudiw1 it’s a shame I wanted it to be great, I really did. I wanted this helmet from when it was first released but waited. Shame. Good luck with the search. Some people have left comments to helmets they ride with below. That may help you on your search for an alternative
Hi. Many thanks for your positive comments. In answer to your question, no I haven’t tried hx-1. Please do update your comments here if you manage to try the helmet or devise to buy one.👍
Hi. I try to be as honest as I can in my reviews. Tbh since owning it I’ve only worn it twice, I am disappointed with it but I think this is probably common with modern retro helmets like these. There seems to be a trade off between style and substance. If your simply looking for a quality full face helmet there are plenty of others out there to choose from. If your wanting a modern retro style then unfortunately your probably going to have to sacrifice a little something for it. Hope this helps, safe riding and happy adventures 👍
Hi thanks for the comments. I tried to show what I was talking about as best I could. Its a difficult thing to describe, so showing people is the best way for them to see for themselves. thanks for the comments. all the best
Extremely comfortable and pretty helmet but this review is spot on. Bad whistling, very noisy. I didn’t have much of an issue with my reflection so I can’t comment on that but I had the helmet and sold it a month later. Replaced it with a Shoei Ryd for serious riding and a Nexx XG100R to pose. Much better.
Paul Valas thanks for the feedback. It’s validating to hear that others have experienced the same issues. Shame shoei haven’t got this right because as you say it is comfortable and a great looking helmet. The ex zero is a fantastic helmet in comparison but you just want something with a face shield for colder days. I’ll check out the 2 helmets you have mentioned!. Thanks for taking the time to watch and feedback. Much appreciated
Thanks so much Rick, that’s very kind of you. I try and give as honest an opinion as I can, as a consumer parting with their hard earned money. Thanks for the kind words, take care and ride safe 👍😁
Good truthful review, I end up riding around with my visor down but not locked (clicked in) that way I get airflow. Which is fine because I live in Sydney and its never to cold. I'd still purchase one again, but your correct about the airflow.
Matthew Walker interesting, thanks for your comments, very helpful. I bought the helmet to ride in the cooler months in the uk, so was looking forward to a nice warm seal, compared to my open ex zero. Swap you London for Sydney lol. Thanks for the comments 👍
Hi. Yes I was annoyed about that too. I actually rode to the bank the other day, flipped the visor and it started whistling (as I haven’t ridden in a while thought ‘what the ...’ and the. Remembered) so yes. An annoying feature.thanks for watching, taking the time to leave a comment and of course the subscription...safe riding 👍
Did you try to remove the scincurtain to improve ventilation or decrease fogging ? Maybe this headvent is just designed to subtly extract the natural heat of your head. Anyway, now we have the glamster 6 to meet new regulations. It's even more expensive. I wonder if something has change to the ventilation design ? It sure looks the same on the outside. I have a bell bullit and it also has his issues. It seems that retro means compromise... Maybe next time I'll go for something like a Shubert C5 without the graffics it looks rather 'neutral'
Hi. It seems poor ventilation is a compromise for the design aesthetics. That’s why shoei provide a free anti fog insert it seems. I’ve not seen or tried the newer model but it would be interesting to see if any of the issues have been rectified. I mostly ride in my ex zero and rarely use the glamster which is a shame. Thank you for your comments
It’s a lovely looking helmet and well made, just fell short on a few points, but I think this is unfortunately typical of most of the modern retro helmets which is a shame. But glad you found this helpful. Let me know what you decide to go for instead 👍
Hi adivanpersie89. I’ve not personally ridden with the bell, so my opinion would be coming from an untested point of view. What I would say is styling wise it’s obviously aimed at the same modern retro audience and the glamster, although with a slightly more edgy ‘storm trooper’ esque styling. The bell is significantly cheaper than the shoei, but that could just be down to the weight of the brand rather than build quality or performance. I would say if you have ridden with bell before and it suits your head shape etc give it a try. Personally after many years of various helmets I’ve found shoei to be the best for for me, and I’d also go for a more mid to high end helmet iver a cheaper one. Hope this helps, let me know if you buy or test the bell 👍
Hi. Many thanks I really appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment. It’s always nice to know someone finds them helpful and always lovely to receive feedback.👍
Right after watching your vlog I was a little sceptical,as my glamster fits well ,good vision ,good quality ect,but what I will say is that I’ve had a “smere” on my pin lock visor, & removed & cleaned it several times, I now realise it’s a reflection of my snout . 🥴 . Tidy review FairPlay.
Lol 😆 thanks for sharing. Yes you do get the reflection from the pic lock and if you remove it completely you will find that the helmet steams up without it. Made me laugh thanks for sharing
Hi... oh thanks so much thats really nice of you. Yes the exhaust is great! it really added extra oomph to the bike in terms of noise. I actually did another video on the exhaust (check out my x pipe review). So the exhaust is the TEC slip on end cans, then i added the Tec X Pipe, so removed the catalytic converter and installed the straight through X Pipe. hope this helps. T100 lovely bike!
£350?? I paid £450, with a £50 discount from Colwyn Bays' Lovely Natalie.. But that was last year when they first came out. Very extensive Review. Thank you. I have not yet wore mine at night, and have not noticed the self reflection issue. But I am a very occasional rider, not many miles on my 2015 Honda MSX.
Ant yes I waited a few months before I purchased mine and shopped around for a discount. I mentioned to some other people on here that I think most of the modern retro helmets seem to have issues so it’s not just shoei. Thanks for taking the time to wh and to comment. Enjoy the new helmet and the bike when we are able to get back out there .
A few observations that I did not find mentioned: I have a pair of polarized sunglasses. Combined with the pinlock, you get all kinds of weird colours, the asphalt becomes purplish, especially the tar snakes ( they do stick out, though ). Also the view into car's front window gets completely blocked, as if they had chromed windshields. I reckon this is not shoei specific, but as you said you can not really use the helmet without pinlock on colder days. For those who wear glasses, I found an anti fog cloth that keeps the glasses fog free for a couple of hours, so applied before the ride, it usually lasts throughout without the need for reapplying. The brand is called "FOOGY".
At least some really Honest and True review. I thank you so much Toni. I love my EX Zero Helmet in the summer, but i will look for another helmet then the Glamster. Thx 4 saving my money, i think i would be disappointed as you said. Much love and ride safe ! :o)
Hi. Yep I totally agree I love my ex zero too… and I was pretty disappointed with my glamster. If I had the chance again it wouldn’t be my choice. So glad you found this helpful and thanks for leaving such kind and positive feedback 👍
Hi Toni, Great review I was all set to buy this helmet to replace my Bell Bullitt until I saw your review. But then I noticed this review is from 2 years ago. I think Shoei have made some changes to the helmet since then, Could you possibly do another one using the latest Shoei Glamster ?
Hi Peter. Many thanks for the kind words, I’m glad you found this review helpful. Also very interesting to hear that Shoei have made some adjustments to the product! However I doubt I’ll be posting and update on this video in reviewing the newer model as all my product reviews (to date) are items I personally have bought and so I won’t be purchasing a new helmet just yet. 👍
hmm maybe its a pinlock issue on all helmets. I have a Harley Davidson Boom Audio which is identical to the Sena Momentum and the Pinlock visor was so bad at night with the oncoming lights and street lights, Brake lights etc. I had to remove the insert and chuck it back in the box.
Totally agree. It’s a pinlock issue that causes the reflection problem. But the ventilation in th helmet is so bad that without a pinlock insert you would be fogged up in seconds, so a design flaw in the helmet itself I think. Pinlock do actually say in the product usage leaflet you get in the box, that it isn’t to be used at night and to remove it, but as you know the thing is fiddly to instal, highly sensitive and there’s no way this is coming in and out each time you ride and the light starts to fall. Totally agree with your experience. I rode on a frosty evening with the visor up, just because I was getting a headache from the car light reflecting in my eyes. Thanks for sharing this. Very very helpful.👍
That’s really really lovely if of you @perecomajuncosa9683 . So glad you found this review helpfuln. Thanks for taking the time to leave such kind words. 👍😊
Interesting to see this; wish I’d seen your review before I bought this lid. Had a great deal at the bike show however and can’t wait to try it out but now worried it’ll be squeaky and too hot in summer. I do find the stiff visor and clip annoying so will drop the oil in where you show 👍🏻
Hi. Im sure you will love the helmet. It is just my experience, you may push the things aside that annoyed me and just get on with it. However I think the Glamster in comparisson to my Ex Zero doesnt stand up even though they are completely different helmets, ill always wear the ex zero over the glamster even in bad weather. The glamster is a fun weekend helmet if your popping out for a sunday morning ride. If thats the case you'll be fine :)
Yes I agree although it’s considerably quieter than my ex zero, by now where near as quiet as my hjc.for long journeys it’s probably not the best choice I agree. Thanks for sharing 👍
Mine was supplied with a clear pin lock so no issues there. I have had an issue with the top seal and the pin lock catching, have broken two clips (replaced by shoei both times) think it is a floored design.
Hi. Yes mine was supplied with the clear pin lock too, but it’s advised not to wear it at night, and you know how difficult it it to get it in an out so it’s impractical to expect the rider to do this all the time. TBH I have t ridden in this much I opt for the ex zero over this generally so I haven’t got a long term use opinion, so your experience with the clips is very interesting, thanks so much for sharing 👍
Thank you for this honest review. Was considering buying one for my wife so a few things to consider that I hadn't thought about. Love Shoei helmets BTW.
Hi. Yes I love the shoei helmets too and the fit for my shape of head seems to be just perfect, no odd gaps in places inside the lid. It’s a lovely looking helmet, fit is great and it’s nice and lightweight, just a few other drawbacks as you saw. Tbh I barely ride in this because of the issues. Glad you found it helpful, good luck with the search 😊👍
Hi Lee. Glad you found this helpful. Since owning the helmet I think I can count on one hand the times I’ve actually worn it. Disappointing as I love the aesthetics of the helmet, just doesn’t live up to my needs. Glad you found this helpful, I really appreciate the kind words, good luck with the search. Let me know how the N21 fairs 👍
Great detailed review! I looked at the glamster, but it didn’t fit me, wrong head shape I think. I ended up with the AGV X3000, similarity retro. Interesting about the issues you found, especially the pin lock, I had no idea they were only rated for daytime use, my touring helmet has a pin lock, I use it all day and night!!
Thanks for sharing this. Yes I only realised pin lock was daytime use only through reading the very small fine print it came with.. that and the headache I got from the glare back. Thanks again for sharing your experiences and of course for the supportive words 👍
awesome and honest review, thanks.... if you could please try-out the scorpion exo hx1!.. it looks awesome but there´s not much reviews on it and it is not available in Chile, neither the glamster or ex zero :S , so i will have to order it on line and cross my fingers....
roberto marrero g many thanks for taking the time to watch the video. I’m glad you found it helpful. I generally review items I buy from a riders perspective, and as I e only just purchased the glam dyed and the ex zero I’m unlikely to be buying another helmet soon. Looking at the scorpion online ice wise they a a relatively cheap helmet, so I wouldn’t expect too much in terms of being great performance in top end spectrum of helmets, but they seem fairly priced for what they are. See if you can find some online reviews already to help you make up your mind. Safe riding- stay safe
Thanks for the straight review. I’m pretty disappointed as this helmet in that gray would look great with my R Nine T. It may be a guilty pleasure purchase, but I doubt it’ll be my daily helmet like I was hoping.
Ha ha… thank you John…. I forgot about the ending on this one, just had to laugh when you reminded me. Yes I agree about the pinlock. The concept is great but it’s just not practice for permanent use. Thank you for the support 👍
Interesting review, I bought a Glamster about six months ago, complete with supplied Pinlock (with no daytime user only warning). I can't say I've had a problem with ventilation but I almost never clip the visor shut, so I have a tiny crack at the bottom which probably helps. I can feel air coming through the vent above the opening, but only after a haircut, a month or so of hair growing, so it's closer to your length and I can't tell if it's open or closed. Also I ditched the chin curtain following Ryan Fortnine's video on CO2 build up. What I do have is the horrible whistling noise with the visor open whilst a friend with a Glamster has none. Comparing the two, he seems to have an earlier completely flat visor, whilst mine has the molded recess for the Pinlock. Why this would make a difference I don't know, but I've just ordered an aftermarket photochromic visor for mine (without recess), we'll see if it changes things.
Hi Alex many thanks for sharing. The warning on the daytime only use is in very very very small print in the pinlock instructions. real;ly small. RE the air circulation, even after a fresh ahircut and skin fade at the back ive not noticed any airflow, and the fog on the visor is testimony to that too. I live the aesthetic of the lid and the fit, but its really not that great a useable all weather helmet and especially for the price tag. Very interesting to hear your swap on the visor. Look forward to hearing how that goes. 🙂
Hi I would love to but at this point in time I don’t have any plans to. You see the items I review are items I purchase myself and currently I’m not looking for a new helmet, but thank you for the suggestion and I’ll let you know if the situation changes !👍 safe riding and happy adventures
@@ToniReviews I agree thaat most reviews on youtube are indeed infomercials, the scarce ventilation has been mentioned on a Japanese comparison between the Glamster and the Rapide...I was leaning towards the Shoei but right now not anymore.
Great review - honesty appreciated - I was looking to add either a Glamster or an Ex-Zero to alternate with my AGV K6 for my Bonneville. I get many visor positions with the K6 and its got a pinlock as well, think I'll add the Ex-Zero for the open face style and connection to the wind and surroundings and save the K6 for the cooler spring and fall days. Cheers.
Hi James. So glad you found this helpful. The ex zero is an absolutely fantastic helmet. You won’t be disappointed. Will look great with your bonneville too! Thanks for sharing 😊👍
Not an owner but having seen another review, there is an option to have several positions of the visor. Are you sure that there is not a way to make that happen?
Hey. Yep absolutely! I’ve owned this for over a year. It’s doesn’t lock out. It has a semi partial middle point it sort of rests on, but you couldn’t ride with it like that as it snaps shut. It’s more of a stylistic helmet. Great shoei feel and weight nd looks, but not practical if you are a serious everyday or mileage rider. More of a pop to the cafe on a Sunday helmet, and make sure you get home before dark or you will have to remove the pinlock too. That’s the importance of channels like this. You get real honest reviews and discussions from people who fork out their own hard earned cash.
Have been looking for a new helmet and comparing this helmet with the Arai Rapide, so have watched a lot of reviews, found your review the most informative thanks, by the way, how do you keep that fine quiff going on while wearing a lid ?
Hi Robert. La o found this helpful. It’s difficult when searching for reviews as most of them are by reviewers who are gifted the products to review and so are generally always favourable. So I’m glad this video helped. As for the hair.... once the helmets been on it’s goodbye 😂
It’s a lovely looking helmet and great lightweight quality materials, just a hefty price tag with some detrimental design flaws for functionality. Which I think is a common problem with modern retro helmets across the board
I found it beds in nicely... not too much and not over tight. Plus you can also switch out and replace the liners (if needed) if they become too worn. Hope this helps 👍😊
Hi patryk. It seems as though the modern retro full face helmets suffer with ventilation issues. If you are a fair weather rider this shouldn’t be a problem as you can ride with the visor open anyway. If you are an all weather rider I’d look for substance over style and go for a touring helmet that has comfort and functionality. Saying that I predominantly ride in my shoei ex zero (check out my video on that). It’s not practical for cold weather, but I love this helmet and ride it in most weathers. Hope this helps
@@ToniReviews Thanks for your quick answer and honest review! I will check your wideo about x zero :) Unfortunately I suffer with migraines, so the ventilation in hot days is very important to me. I ride with glasses so this will also affect to my choice. Maybe The solution would be to own two helmets :)
Hi John. I think you may be asking which retro helmet I would suggest. I haven’t tried all the helmets in this category so couldn’t possibly make a judgement on that, only give my opinion on those I’ve tried. However I have a shoei ex zero and have a video on that, and this is my favourite helmet to date. Hope this helped.👍
No doubt, shoei is a good helmet. But it's not a retro helmet, it's modern helmet. It's not bad, perhaps in most cases it's good. I can call retro helmets Premier Trophy and Blauer. And yes, bitwell gringo s is a truly retro helmet, I just don't like the style
Shoei make great helmets, but yes as a retro helmet this has its flaws, but then most modern retro helmets have these. Its sometimes a case of style over substance in this market- it all comes down to what things you are willing to compromise on. Thanks for your comments, always helpful.
Yep . Just bought one too. Was in Urban Rider today trying on a load. Bycity roadster felt too lightly built. Bogotto and Origine felt tight on forehead. The shoei was solid without feeling too heavy, plush liner that fit v well (medium on my 58.5 head) . It has a decent aperture so plenty of peripheral vision and not too claustrophobic. If it whistles as the reviewers did it will go back but everybody's bike slipstreaming is different so we will see.
Hi Neil... Many thanks for taking the time to repsond. Yes I agree... Not very imopressed with mine either.... I took my bike for its MOT the other day on a grey chilly january morning in the UK, kitted up I opted to ride with the Ex Zerio over the Glamster... thats saying something. Shame. Wish id have found an honest rider review before I purchased mine too, rather than reviews from shops etc.
@@ToniReviews Yes indeed... sadly I was swayed by the youtube reviews, and the rather adept salesman. And as a new rider it seemed to fit the bill in most areas of what I was looking for... (of course including styling :) Until I bought it, and then realised. Oh well, we live and learn, I'll be a little more dilligent next time. Thanks again for the review, if unfortunately, a little too late in me finding it. (nice quality video as well by the way, not just informative :)
Looking at the glamster to buy and having a more classic style helmet is really hard to find. I have a arai which is crap it leaks in the rain . I also have a hedon with is amazing to look at but leaks and is quite noisy. So the glamster ticks quite a few boxes but it's a shame we can't test ride helmets before we buy them.
Thanks for sharing. That’s interesting to hear about the hedon and the aria. In comparison I haven’t yet had the go aster in the rain so couldn’t comment. But yes I agree they are very pricey and it would be good to be able to test ride such a pricey purchase.
@@ToniReviews I have a arai axces 3 which I use through the winter but it leaks like crazy when it rains and I've heard good things about the glamster in the rain. I'm considering the glamster or the nxr as a commuting helmet . Have you used the glamster in the rain and are you still having ventilation issues?? 🙏🏼🤙🏼
great helmet, strange the top vent works really good on mine, have been days I had to close it all the way to much cold wind at the face , and if you want the real retro look take the visor off and use sunglasses
gardini100 . Hi. Yes I don’t find the vents work very well at all. On my hjc helmet the vents are fantastic, but I couldn’t really see the difference with the glamsters ports. In the summer I ride the ex zero which is a fantastic helmet for a more retro open face approach. I originally bought the glamster for colder weather riding so need the visor.
@@ToniReviews can be a malfunction or something wrong with the helmet you got, on mine, it can be real windy at times I use the vent a lot , the parts that I liked about it was the fov and the wind in the face with the visor down :)
Briccio Martin Maristela thank you. I try to be as honest as I can and give the information from an actual riders owners perspective. I think it’s Important as so many reviews either seem to be sponsored or by shops etc , which doesn’t give the owner a completely honest overview. Hope this helped. Thank you for the feedback and your comments, they are very much appreciated. 👍
@@ToniReviews it’s funny how things ain’t always what you want them to be. I wanted a neotec 2 to replace my 1 as it looked a lot better, especially in blue. But… where the one kind of holds itself up in the open position up to 70-80 whilst still not being susceptible to wind blast on a nekkid, the two clicks into place in the up position, slightly higher and just enough to make the wind wanna tear your head back. I know your not meant to ride with it I’m the up position on the one, but what the hell’s the point of having a helmet that doubles up as an open face if you don’t? !!!😂👍
Thanks for this review and the Ex-Zero review. I've been eyeing the Glamster for over a year and like you, never saw any real negatives. Now I know I would be better off with the Ex-Zero. I have a good modern Shoei full-face already. Thanks and excellent work!
It should come with the pinlock as standard. The helmet will steam up without it as the air flow isnt great. Get in touch with your dealer. On the other hand the pinlock provides another problem in the reflection. Ho[e the video helped in some way. Thanks for taking the time to leave your comments. safe riding.
Mad Media definitely the ex zero. Styling is great, lightweight but overall it really elevates the riding experience. It’s like riding with an open face helmet but with added protection. Not great for colder or wet rides (very painful for the face when riding in rain), but overall a great helmet. My favourite helmet so far.
Toni, thanks for great review! Have you noticed the issue with opening of visor with installed pinlock? It touches the top sealing when you open the visor.
Hi Levon. Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment. Mine doesn’t seem to touch, when I lift the visor it is very very close, in points, I mean almost touching, but it doesn’t actually make contact... but very very close. But the pinlock is installed by us the consumer, and being so very close, it could be it just needs a small adjustment to clear the visor... but yes it is very very close and in some cases I could see that I may touch.
@@ToniReviews when I get the dark visor, I’ve noticed that it has notch for a pinlock, which is not in the clear visor version. Maybe this is the case…
Just seen this review after buying mine a few weeks back. Couple of points (if you still own the lid?). You can have the visor open a crack if you just push it past the detent or don't lock it when you pull it down, I filter with it like that all day in London and it stops it steaming up. Also, never noticed the pinlock while riding, I've done about 300 miles in it so far, mostly in the dark. Worst bit about the lid for me is the catch on my clutch hand, It's London I never sit in neutral.
Diggory Rush Yea you can push the visor open a smidge but if riding I found it flips up or down with wind it doesn’t stay in that position securely (for me anyway). Also the point at which is sits seems to be right in the eye line. The pin lock is less of a problem in cloudy overcast weather (although still visible). When sun comes out or it gets dark it becomes more of an issue. You made some interesting points so thanks so much for sharing. It’s always handy to have others perspectives so that people can read and make their own minds up. Thanks 🙏
Diggory Rush thanks for watching and commenting. Always good to get other people opinions and points of view. I think it helps people to make up their mind so thank you for taking the tune to comment. Safe riding 😊
I must admit I bought my first shoei (the ex zero) and it is simply the best helmet. Since owning 2 shoei helmets I don’t think I would buy another brand. The fit and comfort is excellent. This model does however have some draw backs as I mentioned. But fit comfort and build quality are excellent
@@ToniReviews My newest helmet. 1st ride was in a wet snowstorm, gotta get vaccinated at all costs. Wet snow, the visor had heavier problems than fogging which was kinda light, snow clamping on the visor was really scary. It is comfy, not overly noisy like all retro styled helmets, the 4 vents each operating independently are working well but only the chinbar ones can be manipulated with gloves on. Sizes do run a bit large, I would advise to not order online if possible, try it on first. It is my second Torc helmet, got the first one 7 years ago and I think they are really good helmets on the cheap price side. The T1 is ECE and DOT, fiber not plastic.
