I know that they’ve had several people with MS try them out prior to launching the shoe! Id recommend reaching out to the company to ask for the feedback that the people with MS had about the shoes. To my knowledge, it’s all been very positive.
I have MS. These are a game changer. I struggle with balance drop foot. I hike my hip when I walk and swing my left leg. These help me feel so much more secure walking. The base is just a little wider so there is a little more stability. They are totally worth the $200.

I got these and found them very unsafe. I have minimal drop foot, but the shoes were so slippery, I was nervous standing when using them. They suggested I put weight on my heels before I stand. This helps, but I still hesitated to stand, which is never good for us, as we need to stand up as often as possible. They also suggested putting a rubber mat under my feet before standing, but I won't carry around a rubber mat through the city or even in my home to be able to stand when I otherwise have no issue getting up from a seated position. I'd also risk head injury wearing the shoes if I bent down to pick up the rubber mat after getting up. I hope no one gets unjured using these.
Thank you for sharing your experience! It's all about finding what works best for you and allows you to feel safe☺️ For some these may be perfect, but also they may not work for others. I'm sure this is helpful information for those considering the sneakers!
I was diagnosed with MS 40 years ago and wear a brace for the leg affected by drop foot. What worked for me was to get only that shoe resoled with a smooth sole which alleviates any fear of sudden stops/trips and less than $100 while you still have plenty of traction on your good leg.
I’m 72 years old. I’ve had MS for 40 years God I wish you would’ve been around when I was first diagnosed maybe I would still be walking instead of wheelchair-bound God bless you.
Thank you Gretchen! I will keep an eye out for when they start shipping to Canada. The PT is working with improving ankle dorsiflection and hip flexors but when I am walking longer distances and get a bit fatigued, these would be helpful! I will share this video with my physiatrist.
Everything looks very good and makes a whole lot of sense, I myself have foot drop, hiking hip and I am very interested in this product but there are two things that I'm having issues with number one is the cost of the sneaker with the way the economy is and the fact that most people that have these underlying issues are on disability or on a fixed income so how is this supposed to be beneficial if one must go broke to obtain it so many people have so many great ideas and inventions that may help people that are less fortunate than themselves but then they get into business with people that take their vision and turn it all about money instead of helping people like big business and insurance companies that's how the rich get richer in the poor get poorer, I would also feel more comfortable spending this type of money if I seen a person with actual foot drop or hip circumduction how to roll with demonstrate them and give their review the way you are now then I may feel more comfortable and inclined to purchase this product , I would also suggest find a better way to advertise on Facebook
Thank you for sharing your views. I do have a post regarding these sneakers over on Facebook where many who do have foot drop have commented & shared their experience with the sneakers ☺️ In regard to cost, I do not work directly with the Cadense company, but am hoping to let others know about this new option for foot drop.
Thank you for sharing your experience! I do agree that there is a bit of a "learning curve" with them, but once you get the hang of them I do think they're really useful! Safety is always first though☺️
Great educational video. It seems to me Dictus will be more safer to use for drop foot, as it lifts the foot off the ground and will be able to clear it and walk safer?
Dear Doctor,I have seen your presentation repeatedly for a number of times.Really your solution ia incredible. My daughter has a foot drop after a car accident 5 years ago.Her case is related a perpneal nerve that control her foot&her heel is indented.Until now she didn't get the right shoes that makes her walking comfortable. If I send you photographs &video of her walking can you provide her a shoes that solves ger problem?Thank you so much Sincerely yours Alemu Bedane.
Someone in my MS group posted with pictures how these shoes literally fell apart within 3 months. Just be warned. She did contact cadense and they gave her a coupon off her next $200 pair. not worth it.
So happy you enjoyed the video! These shoes seem really well designed & with good material so I believe they will last for quite some time (if that helps)☺️
Thanks Gretchen. The sneakers look great. I wonder if they would work with BRACES? Do they make men's shoes. I brought up the sight and they have men's shoes. They are about $200.00. If they work, it is worth every penny. I will try them.
Drew Shoes Company makes shoes that are AFO brace ready. I got mine from a shoe shop in Central Ohio. Love them. First time in 20+ years I can wear fancy shoes.
They almost look like weighted shoes for training... I like the tight up slope in the front, but they don't look like shoes, made to ease the TRIP Hazard, which most shoes have built in. Thanks, but NO Thanks.,..
I got excited about the shoes to help me with my drop foot until I went on their website to find out they don’t make them in my shoe size😢 (I’m a 5 and a half) … Hoping they make smaller sizes in the future 🙏🏻♥️
I'm sorry to hear that! I'm sure you could reach out to the company to ask them if/when they will have a broader sizing selection at support@cadense.com
Ohh all great questions! I’d put some neuro insoles on the inside to help with the sensation (I love the company Naboso for products like this) and based on my experiment when I tried these on, I do think they’d slide over a small bump/carpet. I plan on putting them on again and purposely walking on different terrain, so I’ll keep everyone posted!
Great question - In my opinion this would vary depending on each person's mobility. However, Cadense may have better advice when it comes to this question. You can reach out to them at support@cadense.com
I do have exercises for hip flexors on my page! If you use the magnifying glass on my page & search "hip flexors" it will narrow down the selection & bring up vidoes and/or Shorts about hip flexors.
I have foot drop would love to be able to afford these shoes I fall and lose my balance every day I’m getting more scared as I get older…I live in the UK.
Hey there! I had a lot of people mentioning this so I reached out to the company. They let me know "the shoes will be available in Canada in a few weeks down the road. Customers can email us at support@cadense.com and we will notify them when shipping to Canada is available." Hope this helps!
@@DoctorGretchenHawley Omg seriously?? Wow thank you so much for getting back to me with such great news. Thank you so much. You truly are an amazing person for all work you do, and videos you share with us MS’ers. It’s because of your videos, and one in particular that finally woke me up to decide to get mobile again. I’m only 46 and don’t want my story to end in a wheelchair ♿️ Thank you your such a sweetheart ❤️🤗😘🥰❤️
Hi Gretchen! Thank you so much for this video, book and all of the helpful informatiin you share with us MSers! Could these shoes work with swollen feet? I am currently in a wheelchair. I would like to transition in to useing my walker again. What is the safest way to start?
This is a great question - I actually have a video that I think you'll find really helpful in answering this☺️ You can find it here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-q3KYc_I8Iac.htmlsi=iQcebkP3oJD6Da1g
There’s some great exercises for that type of ankle motion - you can find some of them on my RU-vid page and all of them in my online program, The MSing Link! As for the support of the shoes, I noticed the same support on the inside and outside.
Hey there! Great question - The company let me know that there will be shipping to Canada in the near future, and for those interested to reach out to support@cadense.com to get on the waitlist & they will keep everyone updated!
Great question - I am unsure if something similar is available in the UK. However, I would reach out to Cadense to see if they have plans to expand their shipping to the UK at support@cadense.com
Ur right Kristie we can't all afford the shoes and company's can make shoes and still make a profit for alot less money but they don't care about people's life with a disorder like drop foot they just want to make a profit they are greedy. They say they care and want to help but it's just bullshit. What happened to the good people that want to help mankind and feel good doing a good thing
Hey! You can snag the link to check out all the details in the description underneath the video, by clicking "...more" or you can find it here: cadense.com/collections/adaptive-shoes?source=aw&sv1=affiliate&sv_campaign_id=1568166&awc=74410_1710167620_98764e4d5f756a2641b11f5bdcd1832b
I reached out to the company to ask if these sneakers could be worn with an AFO, and was told that they can! ☺️ If you have questions regarding a specific brace or support I would recommend reaching out to Cadense directly at support@cadense.com
I just got my Cadense shoes a week ago. I live in Canada. My friend has a business here and got them shipped to Buffalo then here. It was well worth the money. The only thing that I do is drag my feet and it feels like I'm shuffling my feet and they are noisy on certain surfaces. Besides that, I'm walking more normal now. It really does make a difference. I would recommend them.
@@yy-1133 I just received mine and I found them to be heavier than my sketchers. I have foot drop and felt that I needed a super light shoe. I am really impressed with these shoes. Had a hard time getting use to them at first, but wow, after three days of trying them each day, great results! I was able to walk almost like I did twenty years ago and I climbed stairs without a death grip on the stair rail. I did keep my hand lightly on the rail, just in case. I hope this helps a little.
I’m not sure! I’m always an advocate for trial and error. Something like acupuncture doesn’t typically cause any adverse effects, which is great for trial and error. Foot drop is typically due to weakness and tightness, so strengthening and stretching specific muscles tend to be most effective.
@@DoctorGretchenHawley Ty great bec I just purchased a Stepper and it’s definitely tightening up the calves sooo Ty so much for the confirmation. Great day!! 😀
Just watch your video with the puck slides I have a drop foot had it fore years always used the brace that fits in the shoe and up to my calf. I am always looking for something different like this shoe , I can not left my foot at all would you think that this shoe would work for me and if so what is the price of the shoes?
Great question - You can find the link to the website to check out the shoes in the Description section underneath the video☺️ Simply click "...more" to expand the section🙌🏻
Trainers are specifically designed for athletic activities. While these can be worn (carefully) while participating in exercise and athletic activities, they're purpose is to help prevent trips, and falls when walking.
