Ishido keeps someone from every noble family hostage, that way he avoids them turning on him and attacking the castle. If they all leave, he is left open to the whims of every respective noble person. His belligerance towards Toranaga is paid for by this insurance. Not even Toranaga would ever have been able to attack the castle - his wife and consort, (and new-born), were still trapped there. They would have been killed as soon as he attacked. It took this kind of 3D chess from Big T to break the stalemate.
It’s interesting people would assume Toranaga would trust Yabushige with an Osaka incursion when all season Toranaga has known of his treachery and double dealing.
Ishido's plan was to kidnap Mariko and kill her away from the castle, "I have no idea what happened, I let her go, she just disappeared, damn hoologans"
@@KristiinaBerg Yeah, at least in the book it is explained that he intended to kidnap and imprison her until Toranaga got to Osaka. That way he could just keep delaying the permits for the other hostages until the issue was over.
Hiromatsu called an audible, who is more valuable, an old general with maybe 100 soldiers or 8 to 10 generals with several thousands of troops, he made a sacrifice for the greater cause
If you watch early interviews with Anna she slips out “this season we are….”, “with this season we want to….”. I was like what? This season? So, I commented and the hate I received from book readers saying it’s impossible, I’m stupid for thinking it, etc. But here we are…. Keep up the good work guys!
I am conflicted about a season 2. Going beyond the source material after season 1 was the case on "The Man in the High Castle". And it went terribly downwards.
For any fans of Kashigi the actor was great in Ichi the Killer. It's violent though, and I mean VIOLENT with a capital V, might be one to watch with the lads, it's a fun watch.
There are news of the series will have a second and third season. But nothing is confirm on the actual story will continue from season one. Hopefully the showrunner takes note from a certain series that went off the rail and faces major backlash from the fans.
Wish they'd do an anthology setup like Mike Flanagan and AHS does, same actors but different story in the series, shogun is just one part of the Asian saga series so I'd love to see the other ones done. They concluded this story when they probably could've made it a couple seasons considering how big the book is.
