I thought that when Blackthorn escaped with the ship Mariko appeared relieved. When Toranaga gave him the title of Hatamoto she seemed to look at him with some respect. When Blackthorn was giving the diving lessons it must have sparked a little something. They also had that moment when Blackthorn was talking about the freedom of the sea and no thinking about yesterday or tomorrow and she chimed in with "only today." It additionally seemed to me that Mariko liked that Blackthorn didn't want to "pillow" with anyone including Fuji. We finally saw Blackthorn and her share a lingering look at one another during the training session and she quickly looked away. To me that was the first indication that she had developed feelings. I missed that look that Omi had in the background behind his shocked uncle, LUL. OMG. He was all like, "I love it when a plan comes together!"
Pilots are pretty high class and if he showed up in London with what is essentially a Japanese duchess, The Queen I think, would probably grant an audience
Blackthorn is a nobody. But Fuji is the daughter of a prominent Samurai family, and daughter in law of Toranaga's righthand man. It'd be foolish for Omi to press her further if she's just made it extra clear that she's keeping the guns.

You are absolutely right there was no build up really to that moment and thats why blackthorne was so confused 😂 he was in love and chipper as hell tryna bust her out the next morning … read the room buddy 😂😂😂 Its interesting how excited he was to show them his canon expertise .. he really has high hopes and believes his skillset will get him home or keep him alive at least. This was a great episode but so far baby that tried to decapitate toranaga is the savviest of them all 😂 even tho she’s gone she was my favorite character cause that was raw af lol … Dudes son that started the war pissed me off but i understand he was tryna show em he had balls 😂.
I like Omi's he's cool dude, he becomes on of B. Thornes closest ally and friend in the future. Omi's not highborn, unlike Nagakado. He had to work for everything and gain through his wits, however the kindredship between him and Nagakado is that they both are young, close age and have gaps with their elders.
