It is quite possible. There really is no facet of the game from an offensive standpoint that Ohtani can't do well. Hits for power, average, drives in runs, gets on base, and steals bases. Sure that he could even play the outfield if need be.
I am really worried about Shohei's recent batting. No, homeruns since May 18th. Three time triple crown Japanese batting legned Hiromitsu Ochiai points out that Shohei's strong rotation of hip swings which produces enormous power then produces homeruns gradually fading. He is not sure it is because Shohei has pain in his back or his focus on higher average. In any case, Shohei won't hit as many homeruns as the last year, Ochiai says. What do you thinki, Ben? I really would like to see the best of him in June, hit 20 homeruns this year!
A .250 AVG, .805 OPS, and 5.5 WAR, won't get it done for Elly. I don't see him as being in the conversation unless his production trends considerably upward.
