I cover the iconic 2013 BBM 1st Version Wing Rookie card and the 11 variations. Ohtani has a good handful of Japanese rookie cards, but none is as iconic as his #183 BBM Red Wing. Thanks for stopping by!
The #183 is my favorite card of Shohei’s I feel a lot of collectors don’t even know about it. Such a low pop report compared to Topps. Being his true rookie I knew I had to pick one up.
Very cool! Thanks for taking the time to break down each of the cards. I think the two sided Green Wing is really cool with the batting photo on the back.
@@SumoMenkoMan I just created a video of these Version 1 cards as well as I’ve been a huge fan for a while. You’ve inspired me and feel free to check it out. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cCm04v9ybv8.html
@@SumoMenkoMan yeah. I hear you. Hindsight with some of these BBM cards has been a thing. I saw the Roki Sasaki BBM Rookie Edition 1/1 Blue Foil and passed on it before he threw his perfect game. That one is tough to swallow. Lol. I truly hope that 1/1 Shohei Version 1 is out there too. Would be hilarious if it’s still in a pack and someone pulls it soon. I have a feeling it is not, but who knows.
I have his calbee 2013 star card S-61 psa 9 can't even get a bid at $50 starting on ebay because japanese buy and sell on mercari and Americans are stuck in tunnel vision with their English versions 🙄
Hey, Great video! I just amazingly came across a holo and red foil facsimile at the national and had to pick both up (paid a pretty penny). I honestly never thought I’d see them in person let alone own them. It’s crazy to me these don’t have more notoriety. Quick question: where did you get the photo of the red foil facsimile from? It appears to be the exact card I have (but graded). I’m curious to know the origin. Also, you mention you one time saw a red auctioned off. Do you remember which auction house that was on?
Awesome! Did you hit up Prestige Collectibles for those two cards? I pulled that image off of YJA and that is where is saw it up for auction. It was only like $700 or so and I wished o would have snagged it!
@@SumoMenkoMan there's also green wing, pink wing versions, card shop limited versions as well also a 2 nd version to these card's for e.g the non memorabilia card twin gems etc.
Terrific video ! I think this video will get many more views as time passes and Shohei further distinguishes himself. You've touched on all #183 1st Version parallels and promos. Most collectors are completely unaware that these exist, I was one of them. One question, how many Base cards were printed in this 2013 BBM 1st Version set. I heard the number of 10,000 of each, but couldn't verify that number anywhere. I've been collecting some of these over the course of the last year and a half. I actually stumbled upon them while searching for Seiya Suzuki"s Japanese Rookie. I was hoping to get a jump on the Suzuki cards before he signed. It turns out that 2013 BBM was Suzuki's Japanese Rookie as well. Once I realized that Shohei Ohtani's Rookie was in this set, I started collecting them. I have Base Red, Silver Signature Facsimile Red, Pink, Purple and Purple Signature Facsimiles. I'm at around 30 cards now. The Kamagaya Family promo is next on the Hit list... Nice work on the video and don't sleep on the 2013 Calbee S-61 and Gold Signature Facsimile.
Thanks! Having Suzuki in the set as well is pretty unique and I think over time more and more collectors will start recognizing the #183 as an important rookie card. I can't imagine there are more than 10K cards out there given how few are on the secondary market these days.
@@SumoMenkoMan I have a update for you, yesterday I was able to acquire a 2013 BBM Gold Signature Facsimile 74/100 in PSA 10 !!! It was in a costly trade.... The #74/100 is the same card you displayed on your May 14, 2022 Blogspot and in this video. I'm still shooting for the Kamagaya promo and Green foil /100 next.
