After this game, Ohtani said, "I think people boo opposing players because they love their team, so I respect that kind of passion as someone who loves baseball as much as I do."
Wow! So whether they see him as a hero or a villain, he is just happy he can be the catalyst for passionate fans. I mean, how can you dislike this man? An amazing athlete and person.
@@fogelmclovin2694 fans don't always necessarily boo a player because they hate the player or the player is a bad person or anything, they just do it to get inside the player's head and make them feel uncomfortable which increases their chances of messing up
He is all class for saying that, the best thing to happen to baseball in our lifetimes. I want nothing more in life but to have a teammate like that in anything I do.
I am from a small town in bc humbleness is a huge deal for lots of us folks and for the record I absolutely wouldn’t take a free flight to Toronto I’d sell the ticket!!! Lots of people over there are an embarrassment!!!!!
This guy is the best ambassador you could find for baseball!!!! ,He is so polite, and he gives the fans 110 percent ,even the opposition looks at him with awe !! Plus when he comes to town ,there is never any empty seats !!!
@@terryrodgers9560 Different sport my friend LOL. In basketball you're supposed to carry because of how much impact one can have on the court. Playing field is smaller, one guy can have possession of the ball much longer. In football (soccer), baseball, you can't win alone. Even in the NFL, American Football, you can win alone since QB are the difference maker. One person cannot carry the team in football or baseball, but one person can in basketball and american football.
@clarkesmith. I agree with everything else except the american football part. A qb is a difference maker, but a qb needs a good WR to throw to. He needs a strong O-line to stop the defense from tackling him. He needs a runner to get those extra yards for a new set of downs. A QB can make a difference, but unless they have a decent team. The qb will get hurt
As a Toronto fan i dont condone these actions. Honestly I figured Shohei wouldn’t have signed with us in the first place it makes a lot for sense to stay in LA
It’s cause Toronto originally seemed like they were gonna sign ohtani, but then LAD swooped in with a larger contract. That’s what they’re bitter about
Idk the context and i dont even watch baseball but damn if that aint one of the coolest badass moments ever. bro bowed his head like a gentleman and smiled and than hit a freaking bomb to humble everyone
They booed him because Toronto was on a short list of potential teams he may have gone to after leaving the Angels. Said then Toronto would never happen due to 50+% taxes for his income bracket.
Im from T dot and we ain't won shit since the 2 series in 92... We just want to get Shohei going. He's might just be the best there ever was to touch the sport.
Wait, Toronto actually thought he would go to Toronto? Biggest thing he was looking for, was to be on the West Coast. To stay, on the West Coast. To be close to Japan.
I hate that he plays for the dodgers so much. The dodgers having all the big names really ruins baseball for me. All my favorite players play for them and it just sucks
As a blue jays fans I cringed at the boos. Not because booing opposing players is wierd but because of the reason they were booing. It reminds me of dudes who get rejected by a girl then switch up like "I didnt even like you anyway" or " youre ugly anyway" and this kind of switch up is cringe and will be forever cringe, imo. Jays fanbase is entitled af sometimes and I dont understand why...pce 😊
In the same city Babe Ruth got his first pro homer as a Providence Grey no less. I'd blame the unrealistic hype from current Jays ownership that they thought they had a chance of getting him.
Ohtani has the characteristics of politeness that Ichiro has. Maybe Ohtani learned something watching Ichiro never argue with referees or charging a mound or even frowning. He let his skills fo the talking and does Ohtani. But I don't watch baseball games anymore because it's not a sport of gentle men, but egotists, greed and cheaters. 😮😢
Unbelievably talented, totally respectful of the game and anyone he interacts with (that we can see, at least), and always seems to be having fun on the field. Even Dodger haters have to respect what a marvel this dude is.
I think he's one of the only players in the MLB who is liked by almost every single fan base. At least for me. I don't normally like players from other teams but he's just so good and such a nice guy it's hard not to like him
Gotta love Toronto fans staying salty that they were lied to about Shohei Ohtani signing, and booed him when news reporters are at fault for making a false report
The shitty reporting is not why they booed him. They booed him because he used the Jays (and other teams to a lesser degree) to jack up his payday in LA when he probably knew he was going to LA all along. The Dodgers actually got used too, having to pay him a least $100 million more because of it.
