I've been a lifelong shooter and just got into precision shooting a couple of months ago and this video really opened my eyes--I realize now what I have been doing wrong. Thank you for the great content!

Hi Mark and Sam Didnt really know where to post this but this will do Just got back into rifles after a 20 year spell , started reloading and still dicking around working out what i can do at a 100 metres , have got some good results from LA102 Lithgow 308 and now stretching it out to a massive 600 metres ( equivalent to about 50 foot for you guys i reckon )but was always having trouble spotting impact when by myself and wasting a lot of handloads as i cant see impact when gun jumps and i instinctively crap myself and close my eyes. Good news - i ran about 50 rounds off last weekend with your 3 port brake i bought from you guys and i could not believe that i could actually keep my eyes open , follow through and watch the impact.I was laying prone in West oz sand and did not get any dust within 3 foot and i did not get bitch slapped in the face with percussion like i did with another brake i tried that actually put me off using them Just a thankyou guys, frikking awesome product and worth every cent. And thanks for educating myself and many other newbies to your world, Sincerely appreciate you and Sams time, money and effort that you put into this and im sure a lot of others do as well As far as im concerned this is the best info and straight forward no BS pissing contest that i have found on the web Keep up the great work Have a good weekend Cheers Rob

I shot my first sub moa group yesterday 1st was a .6 then a .48 and last group of the day was a .38. Was very happy with a 500 dollar rifle and factory ammo

Mark and Sam just a thank you for all the great work you do its always to the point and if I'm not learning something I'm been reminded of something in your videos. I always said that I will rather shoot 2" groups at 300m the whole day rather then sub moa and open up to 1.5"at a 100m

love your work mate although i dont ELR im an avid hunter and all your information has helped me understand what could of and would of gone wrong at dif times from my myriad of shooting positions im forced into and has helped me find better ways to utilise a fence post or sprinkler post :)

Never muscle the weapon, that means having good natural point of aim. I often close my eyes, take large breath, exhale, open my eyes, check crosshair position again, if off center of aiming point, adjust to center and repeat until crosshair sits center after inhale exhale cycle. This is natural point of aim. Just kind of expanding on what you discussed. Great video sir!

Mark you are absolute right about 3 and 5 shot groups - as a professional statistician you need samples of 25 shots or more to begin to make legitimate claims about differences in loads etc. It's called the Central limit Theory (CLT) in statistics. In essence the sample mean converges to the population mean as sample sizes increases. Also worth looking at the idea of confidence intervals for the population mean

Every time I watch one of your videos I get inspired to try and do better next time myself... Pity we aren't allowed to use a solid back rest in the disciplines I'm competing in (they are called 'semi benchrest' as you have to use your hand, rested on the table/bench, to support the back of the stock) otherwise I'll be getting one of these adjustable ones, they look awesome.

That is a load of knowledge you've just shared mate. This is the second time I've watched this video and I'm really grateful that I'm going to be able to put some of your know-how into improving my own shooting, albeit at a much shorter range!

excellent video!!! Mark can you please do one on rifle cleaning. I have a custom rifle and am being told not to clean the barrel... that really goes against the grain with me, what are your views on cleaning? what do you use and how do you use it? thanks you and Sam are definitely setting the benchmark in this sport and a beginner like my self listens when you talk :)

Again, late to the party here. Great info though for those of us who can only shoot at a local range perhaps at shorter distances, like myself. I’ve been SSAA range shooting a little over 4 years now and it’s (hmm how do I put this?) well you know I’m sure…! So I mostly focus on tight groups and reload development to spice it up so to speak. Not looking for perfection however, just for fun. I am mechanically minded so I try not to frustrate myself more than necessary. Lol. Just joins local pistol club and it’s totally different. Still a year or so away from license but a new challenge.🤗

You guys should do a full load development video. If you have already sorry if I missed it.

I find myself grouping at different points on the target. I can only assume that I have no consistency in the way I hold the weapon. The groups are tight but in different areas. After watching this I’ll watch how I address the gun on each shot and try to do exactly the same thing each time. Thank you for drawing that to my attention. I do have one rather searingly strange question but can you overdue it on TRYING TOO HARD to be perfect in shooting. I do find that I shoot better with more of a relaxed attitude

For folks who do a bit more shoot and move or are packing there gear a ways before they shoot, what are your thoughts on rear mono pods?

You should REALY try what we in sweden call "toppfågeljakt", or "top bird hunting". Its essentialy shooting and hitting birds sized from large crow to a small turkey. Shots are often done at -20 degrees celsius, in deep snow and at ranges from 150-300 meters. Vital area is about 2-3". Shots are taken at birds in trees..

do you know how to wildcat cartridge for long range shooting ？ i want to know more about it ,but i can not find enough information

I'm looking at getting into some long range shooting with my 30-06. But i do have a question if you don't mind helping me out. I've tried to do my research but never got a clear answer. the only scope I have to use is a 10x Swarovski (hunting scope) with a Plex reticle and no Parallax adjustment, would that be enough to achieve 1000yds or do i need to save up for something that is purpose built for long range? Mark - doesn't the 'reaction', harmonic wave and bullet muzzle exit occur within 17 to 20 milliseconds? If so, doesn't that mean that you'd have very little affect on things unless you make input force precisely at trigger break? I've seen very high speed camera footage of revolvers and an AK47 showing the recoil wave moving along the frame/chassis long after the bullet has exited the barrel?

I have one of those leather bags that you are showing in the video, Which one of your bases should I order that fits that leather bag?

Akin to golf I started shooting and I was all over the paper as I shot more and more with the same rifle and the same or similar hand loads I got to the point where occasionally I could hit a bullseye and then my next rounds could touch the bullseye shot some even making it through that first hole. But that's amateur level that's something I can do but I can't always repeat. The more I shoot the more I work on my technique the more I become consistent I'm hoping I'll be able to move from occasionally hitting the bullseye and occasionally shooting sub MOA to shooting some MOA anytime I want to. You don't get there on 100 rounds you don't get there I'm 500 rounds I probably put 2,000 rounds to my rifle and I'm just now getting closer and closer. It takes time it takes practice it takes unlearning bad habits and repeating good ones

I know there is a fine balance with all the info you are sharing ..... would have liked to hear your opinion on rear monopods, I gather you do not think they are suitable for ULR. And for fear of shameless promotion ..... your bipod rail you have used on your heavy caliber rifles.....maybe in a furture ep.
