I really enjoyed the video as usual everyone. The image's of the rainbow's were absolutely stunning. It was nice to see Chris on the show with Ruth. It would be nice to see him again at some time. Ruth you captured really nice image's with your time with Chris. I take my hat off to Marcus for the time it takes to get the image of the oven, which turned out superb. Catch you on the next show everyone.
Haha,, I noticed that too! he didnt factor in small female hands. I tried to turn them as advised and ended up nearly chucking the tripod over the cliff! ;-)
For impact don’t shoot rainbows in Black and White......but like the classic quote from Pot Black.......For those of you viewing on a B&W TV, The Pink is behind the Red 😂
In today’s digital world, the camera manufacturers are chasing and selling more and more pixels, just to get back to the quality of film. Thank you Marcus.
Lovely show and very informative. I'd never have thought of using a polarizer for shooting rainbows, in fact I'd have thought that it would obliterate it. I'll have to give it a go!
Love the use of printing out with the Calotype, Marcus! Could you share more or your process/method? My guess is Sutton, but I'm just beginning to explore this space. Thanks!
Unbeatable show guys. Nice shots Ruth of a much loved location of mine, hope some finish up on your wall. The rainbow bit from Marcus was so interesting and I certainly learned from it, just a pity he did not tell us how to get the pot of gold at the end! Really love the large format stuff from him - thankyou Marcus.
I love the photo of the oven..it definitley gave it an "old time" look. The rainbow tutorial was great, ill have to try the polarizer next time.....thanks for the great tutorials and the "bloopers"...
Excellent as always. Makes me want to make an impromptu visit to the Lakes. A much loved and photographed location for me down the years, but not these particular subjects and viewpoints. Inspiring!
Thanks Chris. Shooting the oven digitally would be far easier as you wouldn’t need to meter - just use the histogram. But everything else would be the same. Glad you enjoyed the show.
Hi guys: Great video. Sorry, I haven't been around too much lately. Enjoying the warm Canadian summers but now as we enter into the fall and winter season everything will change. I really liked the session that you filmed with Chris. Ruth, you captured some wonderful images. Well done! Cheers, Keith
Another great show. A couple of very interesting segments from Marcus, a lot wiser about rainbows now. Also well done was a quick look around the Lake District with Ruth guided by Chris. Thank you team.
@@PhotographyOnline I had a wonderful time ! After a mammoth walk & search I found the tree photographed in your program. An amazing experience, inspired by your program.
Good to see Chris Sale pop up here. I've been missing his authoritative style on RU-vid. An article I'd like to see is how you approach taking shots at one of those "enchanted forest" events, where they put on light displays in among the trees. I visited the one at Pitlochry last week with my camera, and shot in manual mode, f6.3, 1/100", Auto ISO. The shots are okay, but I might use a prime next time and open it right up (I'm planning on going to the Beecraigs one at Christmas). I'd be interested to see how you guys approach it (including choosing compositions in the dark).
Hi Mate Marcus, where do you buy this tripod king joy A86, also I like the pistol grip head, or if you can recommend other ones. Can you recommend a website? I live in CA, Best Regards Daniel
Hi Daniel. The only place we know of where you can get the A86 is from our shop. There will be other places but none that I know of. We send quite a few tripods to the USA because people struggle to find them there. We also have a few used Manfrotto 322RC2 heads for £100 but these are not advertised on the shop. If you would like to order, please enquire through Mc2Photography.com. Many thanks.
If it's "rainbow weather" where I live, there is always a bright double rainbow right behind my house. I usually catch it on my phone, but I'll have to grab my real camera next time.
Hi Steve. I focused on the oven, as that’s the only part I wanted to be pin sharp. I then just chose f/45 from experience. As the print was only ever going to be 8x10, I knew dof wasn’t going to be a major issue. I wouldn’t use an app for dof as the app doesn’t know your reproduction ratio, which is the most important aspect when it comes to dof. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching.
Love this show! Can anyone recommend a good tripod for someone with a dodgy back who struggles to carry heavy weights? I presently use a Manfrotto travel tripod but it is very unstable and takes ages to assemble.
Hi Glyn. Look at the Kingjoy C83 tripod. It’s a solid travel tripod which is compact but is easy to set up and will offer good stability in most conditions. They are available from our website shop.
@@PhotographyOnline Thanks - as a regular viewer I’d seen you recommend the brand but wasn’t sure which offered the best compromise between stability and lightness. 👍
Be aware, when entering old buildings, unstable structure, floors especially, asbestos can be a hazard, AGA Stoves had asbestos seals around the doors and asbestos insulation internally to the range, paint in old buildings such as you visited may contain lead, green paint and green wallpapers may contain arsenic
Good show as usual, although I have to say that Chris drove me a little mad. I have no doubt that he is a great photographer, but I see photography as a creative pursuit, and that means that it should be different for every photographer. He had lots of good information to share, but I wish he'd been just a little less prescriptive, a little less like, "this is the way to take this photo." Otherwise, a beautiful location, and lots of possibilities for a variety of views, and viewpoints.
Hi Christopher. We asked Chris to take us to some of his favourite locations and show us how he shoots them. That’s exactly what he did. Obviously if you went to the same locations you would put your own spin on them, as would others. It was really just meant as providing info about some locations to explore in the Lakes but we included a bit of photo advice in for good measure. Hope it was helpful and thanks for watching.
@@PhotographyOnline Oh, I enjoyed it, and I hope my comment didn't come across as unduly critical. Chris obviously knows his stuff, and the resultant images were gorgeous! My comment was meant more as a constructive critique on approach. There is just so much beauty in the world, and definitely no "right way" of interpreting nature. I will check out the Chris Sale You Tube channel as well. All that said, I thoroughly enjoyed the "Old Oven" feature lead by Marcus. His attention to detail, and his suggestions on dealing with the technicalities of the hobby are always appreciated. Yes, all in all, a good show!
