Nice review, Thanks. When you scoped the gun, did you have to deal with barrel droop? I purchased the same gun , put a Hawke scope on it and , with scope centered , it shot 10 1/2 " low at 21 yards which made it pretty well useless for any long range shooting. I did try the Diana Bullseye anti droop mount but no where near compensated for the barrel droop.

I have a Leapers one piece mount on it now with no issues. Best memory serves me, I was shooting around 5” low at 20 yards. I was able to adjust that out with my elevation adjustment.

@@musketman54 Thanks for the reply. 5 " at 20yds seems doable for sure. Just wondering, how far can you shoot with having to use a hold over to get on target? At 100 yards I assume you would have to aim 8-9 " high ? Bought my .177 , 54 new, had it for 2 days and had to sent it to the Diana Warranty repair Dept here in Canada. It also had less power than my sub 12ftlb WH97 and the trigger would not release the sear? Darn! I could go on but you get the point. Very disappointing. I'll be lucky to get it back under 6 months. All the Diana 54 reviews I read including yours, were very positive . Everyone loved the gun though .22 seemed to be the preferred caliber. Guess I just was unlucky with this one. Hopefully the Diana Teck can bring it back to factory specs.

@@joebergin8113 At 100yds my holdover is 7” with any pellet in the 7.5 -8.5 grain range. At 60yds, my holdover is 1.5”. Anything less than that I am dead on. I have had wonderful service with this particular rifle as well as my Diana 52. I hate that you had to send yours back and hopefully Diana can get you back shooting before too long.

Yeah, definitely. The rifle isn’t that loud. I would say that it’s neighborhood friendly.

Look into and buy the Diana ‘Bullseye’ scope mount. It negates recoil much the same way as the rifle does, (better) .

Hey Carl, Just wondering if you did purchase the Diana Bullseye mount and if so , how is it working for you? Would you recommend it?

It is around 11 lbs. I love shooting it from the bench rest. If you are carrying it and shooting from your shoulder it is definitely a workout. The accuracy is pretty amazing and it shoots just about any pellet very well.

MM many air rifles including this one produce high frequency sound that we cannot hear too well much of it not at all, I would advise ear plugs for you and your family if you intend to spend time shooting air guns of this type, Don't end up with permanently damaged ears like me the constant ringing is tiresome to say the least. Like you have shot many types of guns in my life without the protection of ear plugs until it was really too late and paying for it now. ?The worst ear aches I have suffered after shooting sessions have all come about after prolonged target shooting sessions with certain types of air rifles Webley's and Diana's mainly , guns like gamo hatsan and most Chinese springers use similar systems in fact most modern air rifles currently sold in the States sorry to say air arms too although the tx 200 best of the bunch sound wise as well as for accuracy all run very similar pistons. From this point of view Weihrauch, Feinwerkbau and Brit built Bsa's [no longer available new] are so much softer on the ears. Having your gun tuned by some one who really knows what they are doing will help greatly in this regard. What ever you do do not hand your gun over to some one who thinks fitting an after market spring kit is tuning, they will be know now'ts who should not be trusted with any air rifle worth more than fifty dollars.

I unfortunately have the same self induced constant ear ringing ( tinnitus) from air rifle bench shooting. My guns include a TX 200, , HW97K and Beeman R9. I shoot every evening for an hour or so and have been for the last two years or so. The first year I did not use any ear protection as thought the sound was not loud enough to cause any permanent damage. Worst mistake of my like. About one year in , my right ear started to ring with an annoying, very high pitch, tuning fork kind of sound. It's been life altering. My ear has been ringing for 10 months now and will for the rest of my life. I still shoot but wear the proper ear protection, I am interested in this gun but have a few concerns. It does seem quite loud probably because of the high powered powerplant, not for me but my neighbors. My second concern is how difficult maintenance will be . Are they difficult to work on? I have taken my three guns completely apart for repairs and reassembled . I am not very good at mechanical tasks like this but through watching u tubes and taking my time , I am now very comfortable if I have to replace a spring or whatever. There doesn't seem to be a lot out there on the Air King 54 and it also seems like a complicated gun, lots of moving parts. Any info would be appreciated and of course always wear ear protection. always!

@@joebergin8113 Joe neighbors on the shooting range should be wearing ear defence, next door neighbors unless very close less than twenty feet should be OK, if you are concerned build yourself an open ended box to shoot through out of plywood about 4 x 4 feet should be comfortable enough, line the inside with foam or carpet. As long as it comes back past your sitting position and extends a yard beyond the muzzel it will go a long way toward killing damaging sound waves. Don't forget to put a roof on it, as it will be too heavy to move in and out. As for tuning a 54 AK sorry can't really help must be twenty five years since I sold mine and longer since I last worked on one, so my info out of date. But general rules still apply eliminate spring twang and piston slap to quite down a gun.

@@davidprocter3578 Thanks David for taking the time to reply. I have actually done what you suggested in creating a shooting barrier between my lot and my neighbors. I have a 18 x 12 foot insulated shed that I keep my motorcycle in. This is also my shooting shed. I have built a shooting bench at the back with a large propane heater and put in windows where I can see who is walking by. The entire shed is doubled lined with thick cardboard as a sound barrier. I shoot through a 5" x 8 " hole cut in a solid 1" heavy door that lines up perfectly with various collapsible 4' x 4 ' backstops. They are in fairly thick the woods . My range distances in yards are , 23, 30 46 and 51 yards. The problem is shooting an air rifle is illegal where I live, which is a semi rural subdivision , 1 acre wooded lot. However, so far so good and I have doing this for a couple of years now. No one sees me shooting but they do hear the crack. My neighbours are also pretty good. When asked I just say I an using a small compressor which technically is true . I just worry about strangers walking by. All it would take is one complaint to the authorities , one phone call and my shooting days are over. I may even loose my guns so am doing everything possible to stay undercover and still enjoy my daily shoots. An air rifle that pushes more that 105 - 108 decibels is just to risky. I think the 54 Air King might be a bit to loud but not sure? What do you think? I put a High Output Vortek tune kit in my Beeman R9. Its so accurate but pushing the decibel limit with a serious crack to it. I try only to use it when there is bad weather , big wind, rain / snow etc, so it's less noticeable. Bit of a rant there I guess.

@@joebergin8113 use old cast iron skillets as back stops melt lead into the bottom, this will cut down on sound you can hang paper targets in front of them, fit a suppressor to your muzzel, if this is illegal in your state build yourself a large card board suppressor attach it to your firing loop hole the hole can still be 8x5 but several baffles will reduce external noise it wont do anything for your ears, you can make a suppressor from an old plastic bottle that will also help, if police turn up you can throw it in the bin and not worry, put black out film on your window the stuff they sell for cars that will give you privacy enough to stash your gun if plod turn up, keep a nail gun to hand to explain noise and hope they dont see your targets, a camera wired to a screen in your shed should give you extra warning time. if you have the resources build yourself an underground shooting range and forget your woes. good luck.

@@davidprocter3578 Hey David, Underground shooting range, now I like that idea. I could rent a big CAT excavator and start rippen. I could dig a 200 foot long trench, 12 feet deep., 15 feet wide , a couple of sump pumps , few lights and a flat roof, boom! my own private stealth, shooting range. Seriously you gave me some great ideas with building a suppressor. However here in Canada , a suppressor of any kind is illegal. Just this week I found out the hard way. I had been waiting for a year to purchase an Air Arms Pro Sport .177. They finally came back in stock and I ordered one. $1500.00 for a springer! Can you believe it. The gun finally arrived last Thursday . It was stunning but what a disappointment. The gun came with a hollow barrel sleeve. . All the factory built in suppressor parts had been removed. This was done so it could be imported into Canada. but no one told me that. I fired one pellet through it and it sounded like a 20 gauge shotgun. I had never heard of this before. Needless to say I had to send it back. Hopefully I will get reimbursed and not just a credit for future purchases. That is why I started searching info on the Diana 56th and found your u tube post. Thanks again for your quick reply. Joe
