Explanatory
=========
This is my first test of re-grading V-Log footage from my Lumix S1H and deliver in BT 2020 HDR10.
I you are lucky and have an HDR monitor or one of he newer MacBook Pros that can cover 1000nits or more you will be surprised by the shiny colors. Others will see it in Rec709 only.
Best of all: I could reuse my standard grading tree in DaVinci Resolve after only a few tweaks.
How do you think about HDR?

Looks good. I just got a S5II and am looking to film HDR, do you prefer VLOG to HLG?

Good question! Ultimately, both will work pretty much the same as both color spaces are sufficient in their dynamic range to produce nice HLG/HDR output. you only need the CST in the beginning of your node tree to be changed to reflect the selected camera color space. But, there may be another thing to consider: a) BT2020 or BT2100 are across cameras and brand, making mixed cam shooting easier to match in post. b) the log-curves of V-Log and HLG (BT2100) are different regarding highlights and blacks: the V-Log is curved in the blacks while the HLG is bended in the highlights. That means: with the HLG you have nicer rollouts in the highlights and more headroom while V-log does the same with the darks (but cuts off the highlights). So, I switched from V-Log to HLG across all my cams (S1H, Sony RS100 VII, iPhone 13 Pro Max) with very similar results.

You won't believe it: the original footage is in V-Log. I just changed som project and export settings and used widely the same node tree for the grading as for my V-Log. I was surprised by the results pretty much myself.
