See the targets take the hits in the final of the men's skeet shooting event at the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympic Games. www.olympic.org/shooting-skeet... www.olympic.org/beijing-2008-s...
I am actually a skeetshooter myself and I have to say that even though the shooting itself does not need any higher physical abilities, the difficulty in these shots need extreme concentraton and "mental" skills and for that, physical training is most important. All of these guys you see in the final, train extremely hard and devote their lives into shooting and training! I f you ever try skeetshooting I think you´ll understand the difficulty in it!
this sport does need physical abilities, if not after so many rounds of shooting, your arms would feel like they would drop off. the guns they are using are quite heavy especially the perazzi's. i've shot skeet before, it isnt easy, it may look easy but in reality it isnt. and this sport challenges all 3, technique, physically and mentally.
the real question, is how this is a sport? For me an sport is a game/competition that challenges phisical abilities. This challenges technique.... Not trying to ofend anyone, just calling things what they are.
