My pain began from my job, standing for hours on concrete floors. I had no clue what was wrong and went through shoes, inserts orthotics and many other things before I found anything that worked. That padding was what helped me, but getting them in the right spot was a problem. I also have to put extra insoles in my shoes, but that causes the shoe to be too tight. It is hard to get the right balance.

I use toe socks and Crocs. Also, the gel, silicone toe spreaders, seperators work well. During the Winter, I cut the toe ends off of old, big, loose fluffy socks and wear them at night. Avoid any and all things which squeeze or press your toes together. I have extremely wide feet, like a Hobbit I guess.

I can tell you that having 4-5 years combat with meta tarsal pain and searching ways to cure it I finally found the way. It’s not pads or toe binding, it’s not just soft bottom shoes, it’s not training or massage, it’s the toe box space Enough for your foot !!! For me it’s Hoka M Clifton 9 Wide (+ personally heat shaped insole you can get from sport stores). There are also Joe Nimble wide sneakers I bought, which are great too. Forget about the rest. Btw when at home I use Crocs to avoid the hard floor against the ball of foot, especially as long as you have the pain. Crocs are wide and soft. In my country we generally don’t use shoes inside, only socks.

This has been so informative. Thank you very much. Mine has flared up and is limiting my movement😢. I've been trying metatarsal pads but they don't have a dome. I will check those out as well. Also, will try the massage. None ever demonstrated any of this to me. Only shots which were awful and did not help enough to warrant the pain of the shot.

I've always used the resting squat position you specified because I've been told it's the most efficient rest position without sitting. I train martial arts and try to focus on cardio & stamina so instead of sitting I've always used this a rest position between rounds when training. Guess I'll have to make an adjustment there.

Funny thing is, I went on vacation at the beach and walked around for 7 days in foam sole flat flip flops and had 0% pain the whole time. I have a mortons nueroma in my right foot and planter fasciaitis in both feet and I work 12 hour shifts in steel toes standing in one spot. The mortons nueroma has caused 3 of my toes to be completely numb but the silver lining is that the stabbing pain lets me know my toes are still there!

Good guidance, thank you for the three arches. I am a shoemaker and have read and seen some videoes on the Morton`s neuroma to make tha last better fit my client. In summary I have made the toebox wide enough to let the toes spread out and I will help my client to place some type of "pillow" to raise the needed arch, when the shoe is all made. Thank you again I will make a list of good wideoes to wach. A wery good tip to take with you all is Danish duckfeet. (I DO NOT ACT AS A SELLER), They are one of the last brands and factories left in the world to make true footform shoes and boots with a wide last. And they are made in Denmark. Thank you once more. I've suffered with Morton's Neuroma for over a decade on and off, As you say I've found certain shoes and socks and foot position increases the likelihood of attacks, I also have to avoid any position that could result in any squeezing of the foot, kneeling can be problematic because of this. I have a question, is it usual for the Toes to deform when suffering from Neuroma pain, my toes are usually straight and sit tight together, but during an attack, both my third and fourth Toes bow way from each other to leave a substantial gap of about 3/8th of an inch between them

Hahahaha why am I seeing this now! When I had my son 25 years ago, the tendons I guess in my feet loosened, like they do in your hips and joints, so my feet grew about half a size and going to do groceries I crammed my foot in a high heeled winter boot and felt such agony walking around. I was off work so I hobbled around home with my 5 month old and figured it would get better. After a year I went back to work, I was standing on one leg all day it was worse. Mine is one toe over towards the big toe. I finally saw a specialist and she said Morton's neuroma but mine was like a butcher knife being driven into my foot and 5 inch heels were fine or barefoot but any other shoe like running shoes which I wore for work was agony. I ended up with a custom made insert and that made a night and day difference. She said surgery was an option but she didn't recommend surgery because she said people often trip and fall after because they loose most of the feeling in their foot and its dangerous for stairs. I wondered if she invented the term because I would get blank looks from even nurses and doctors 😂 Back then no one even knew what it was. In the summer I lived in flip flops because they didn't squeeze my feet. I still have my insert in my shoe.

I tried several areas for padding and didn't work. However I notice when I weight bear the second joints collapse backward, like being double jointed. Can the pain also manifest on the bottom of the foot at the base of the "ring toe" when walking? I get a sharp pain there occasionally and seemingly pretty randomly. I always assumed it was some kind of bone bruise or something since it only pops up here and there and seems to go away within an hour or so most times. Wondering if this might be what's causing it?
@VsLeo1
@VsLeo1 7 месяцев назад
Yes it can. That’s where my pain is. It’s not a “Morton’s neuroma” but it’s a neuroma. I think it has to do with which toe it is between - but anyway, the maintenance is the same. There’s no cure but you can use these tricks to try and manage. What helps me is wide shoes, and a half insole with metatarsal pad. Also a pea size amount of Penetrex cream a night and during the day, depending. Stretches help a lot with circulation. Good luck!
