Street Photography in Liverpool on a Monday a quiet day out and about.
Shot on iPhone 14 PromMax with DJI Mic 2 amzn.to/3LBm5lX and images taken on Fujifilm XT30 with 18-55mm Lens the DJI Mic system has become a game changer.
The images at the end of the video are the ones I shot today and the black and white ones I will call the Keepers the colour ones will end up in the big bad Cull Bin.
I have added some images in from previous Bold Street shoots before all the windows were filled with posters and the road was full of tables !
It was a hard day as I said quite a bit in the video but I always come away with something.
Be aware I crop for RU-vid and the images will look better cropped for Instagram.

Bold street is looking loads better these days, and you had some nice contrasty light.

Have you ever sat at one of those tables and shot from there? Just a thought. I don't do much street photography because I'm not very good and I've never shot anything that was worthy of printing. I always thought that street photography is probably the easiest to do but the hardest to do well. Great video btw!

Cheers. I don’t do much static street photography I prefer to keep moving. Once sat down it’s quite hard to compose shots from table top.

Know what you mean about it being too busy to find anything decent. My worst days shooting are usually when there's too much going on. Especially when everyone is clustered up in a narrow street like bold street. When it gets like that I usually dart off down the side streets, around the back of the shops. Can often find a few isolated subjects doing interesting things down those, like people on their fag break, workmen unloading weird stuff from theirs vans, people up ladders etc, Duke St can be alright if Bold street is too much. London Road for something less gentrified. And up by the Met Cathedral and Liv Uni for high vantage point on the street below and nice dynamic shadows cast by the high walls. Those three places are usually regular spots on my own photo walks.

What I did not show in the video was how much was shut or shut off. I think because all the students are going they decided to close lots of roads and places yesterday. It was quite funny. Bluecoat was shut and some of rope walks was shut with work going on so not many people about in the back streets but next time when I have more time will explore some of my old areas and places you mention. I have this amazing book on hidden places in Liverpool but keep forgetting to take it with me.

The tables and chairs are great for the punters but for us they, as you said, have completely ruined it. I’ve not been to Liverpool for a few months, I used to go quite a bit as it was easy for me to jump on a bus to Wigan and then the train in, that’s if I wasn’t driving that is, which I’ve done quite a lot in the past 18 months since I started with Plantar Fasciitis, which thankfully seems to have eased off as if I didn’t drive my foot would be too painful by the time I reached my destination, I do need to start leaving the car at home as I end up bringing way too much gear, most doesn’t come out of the boot, plus the amount of money I’ve spent on fuel, could have bought a new lens😂. Just need to see when there could be a nice day this week and have a trip over, hope to bump into you one day Matt. Stay well mate

I don’t actually mind the tables and chairs except in this country we like to box ourselves in around our shops with banners and boxes ! We need to l earn to spread out and share lol

@@MattHart Very true Matt, I’ve seen quite a few fenced off areas outside bars and coffee shops where they only have one way in and out, if you go and sit in the corner and it gets busy you’re practically stuck there.
