I like the hat. I also would like to have more information about the o-ring in the breach, so I might be able to add it to my 1859 sharps reproduction carbine I've just obtained from Taylor's in Virginia, which I love by the way. I'm 72 years old & have been shooting mussel loading guns & cap&ball revolvers since I was 12 years old. Turner's Dixie Gun Works was the only ML. supply back in the 60's. Black Powder guns have come a long way since then.

I've watched your videos on the bullet mold a few days ago. I've been wanting to put a sharps together so I went ahead and ordered a bullet mold from you this morning. Right after that someone responded to a wanted ad I placed and I picked up a kit. Garrett action, Pedersoli barrel. The only thing missing is a forend and sights. I just watched part one and heard yours is a Garrett. Funny. Thanks for doing the bullet mold and the videos. JW

Have been shooting your Richmond bullet in a 1859 Sharps rifle, will shoot round ball well but after 50 yards the Richmond bullet seems to become unstable and inaccurate. The twist of this rifle appears to be 1 in 60, do you know what the twist is and whether it should work?
@erasgonehistoricalmolds2400
Is your Sharps an original or reproduction? Stats on the twist should be availible for orignals and the various reproductions. I can't advise on the instability. The bullet is doing great with according to all the feedback I've gotten so far. Many competition shooters in the NSSA have switched to this bullet.
@thompsonjerry3412
@thompsonjerry3412 Год назад
@@erasgonehistoricalmolds2400 it is and original, my current theory is that the glue or starch is clogging the rifling, more work needed. I believe the rifling is 1 in 48, another friend of mine has an original rifle, I am going to barrow it and compare.

Nice hat ! Used to load a Sile Sharps Sporting Rifle back in the early 80s with combustible cartridges made with household grade aluminum foil ! Easy to form and the chamber was clean as a hounds tooth after every shot. Used a Navy Arms .54 bullet mold with good results. Would have loved an original style bullet like your Richmond Sharps. Great videos !!

Hey Mark, I think I was one of the first folks to mention the hat in your previous video! Glad to see you giving some of these away, you could probably sell a few too. Are the Linen cartridges difficult to make? It looks like those are the preferred cartridges to shoot.

I am currently working on getting my own Palmetto Sharps carbine up and running. I bought a few of those bullets, and plan on ordering the mold, too. Have all I need to make linen cartridges and been testing ways of manufacture and sizes to get the perfect cartridge. What was the fix on the breech that was made? Can you discribe?
@erasgonehistoricalmolds2400
@erasgonehistoricalmolds2400 3 месяца назад
In a nut shell, the breech block face is replaced with a precision machined version that uses a rubber "O" ring to seal the breech. The chamber insert is also replaced or fixed to make sure it can be get a proper gas seal. Larry Flees did my Garret Sharps and my buddies Pedersoli sharps.
