had a few shots with dads .243 from one valley to another that was lower, (~350m) I put it half a turkey above the turkey and it hit where I was pointing like I was shooting flat haha

Yeah you shoot high when shooting up hill or downhill because the bullet feels effect of gravity along flat ground distance. What to do? Range line of sight distance to target, then multiply that by the cosine for the angle and re adjust sight for the flat ground distance just calculated.

Red dot- air rifle set for impact low ..... About the distance between the barrel and the middle point of the scope that way the barrel in the scope are almost parallel....... This will eliminate shooting over the top of your target uphill because the barrel and the scope are almost parallel.....

I was wondering why I was shooting .5" inches hight on my 5.56 zero at 50y, I was right about 50 so I expected to be low about .5" but I was shooting uphill about 7°

Last year, I made a shot at a bug mule buck, I ESTIMATED, he was 500 yards, I figured I would have 30" of drop, I aimed about 18" over his back, and shot 270 WSM, I took out the bottom of his heart... I went back with a GIOD range finder true range 440 yards (kinda pissed, I thought it was farther). And it had closer to 36" of drop... so, was that skill, or just dumb luck? -- first time I ever hunted with that particular rifle, had here sighted in at 150 yards about 1" high...

Well, if the bullet didn’t do what you’d expect it to, but it still worked, that would be, by definition, luck.

@MrAdvantage1 I agree, I was expecting the gun to have 30-36" of drop. I was expecting it to be 2+ moa, which is a 10" (or smaller) group. On a large mule buck, that will have no problem hitting the vitals. 8 am, no wind... I expected to put a bullet through the lungs or heart. As a result, I am setting up a dedicated Long Range rifle. I am waiting for my background on a new m48 nosler in 26 Nosler to clear (30,000 waiting list for guns in Oregon right now - 5 weeks wait). I have a leupold vx5 3-15 sitting here. Dial it in..... take all the guess, work out of shooting.

Gravity has less of an effect on velocity when shooting on angles than it does when the projectile has been shot flat. Easiest way to wrap your mind around it is if you stood on a high building and shot straight down gravity isn't fighting velocity. They are working in unison.

what a crap video that DID NOT show the average shooter WHAT HAPPENS to the trajectory when rhe angle is high or low

@@DinoNucci in an angled situation, a gun will always shoot high compared to shooting on a level trajectory. So you have to aim lower than your level shooting sight point when shooting uphill or downhill
