I wanted to record a high level overview of a job that has been completed to a number of Can Am Spyder RS/GS trikes. I am forwarding this experience as it relates to these lines of trikes only. How the RT's, F3' or Ryker deal with the canister, you have to research on your own.
The canister on the earlier model (what I call Gen 1) was noted for causing two annoyances. Annoyance Number 1: The Unfillable Tank. That is where no matter how much you wiggle the trike, no matter how slowly you pour the fuel, and you can take all the time in the world to physically fill the tank, but no matter what the top "Tick" on the fuel gauge NEVER registers. In other words, your gauge never sees a full tank, ever.
Second...I will reference Family Guy... "Bask in the Ambience, Yes, Bask in The Ambience." Where the gas smell in your shop is so bad it makes you cry, and you just want out...but Peter locks the door cause you have to start it, and you don't know if this could get warm. Almost every RS or GS owner I have met at the fuel pumps can relate to this. This is a way to fix it.
Go out to Spyder Lover Dot Com, register, and in the RS GS discussion strings search for canister, or canister removal. It only costs ten dollars to complete, and you will be able to stand in your garage and carport and brag about your other woman without making your friends gag or cry.
AND...you won't get "Ticked Off" anymore when you fill your tank...okay, okay, I will stop now. Enjoy the video.
