When this started that is what it was do it yourself that was lowriding to me and my friends we all different skills and we would work on each other's cars and to be honest that was the best part. As far as cash or finance it doesn't matter as long as you can make it happen.
If I could go to the bank and get a large enough amount of money to finance my 61 and have it done tomorrow I would but my bank won't finance a project car. I would have had to buy one already done but it wouldn't be the way I want it so I went with the project car. The biggest thing for me was finding a club with guys who are willing to help out with the things I can't do. Dealing with shops is a waste of time. They want too much money (I was quoted 40,000 for a paint job and that was not counting the 10,000 dollars they wanted to dip my car in acid) and they have ridiculous demands like half up front and half when they're done. That seems like a scam to me. Its like an idiot test. If you're dumb enough to give someone 20,000 with no work done, you're kind of asking to be ripped off, but I am sure people do it otherwise there wouldn't be so many horror stories.
Personally, I feel the need to build my own ride as much as I can from the ground up to validate myself as a true lowrider. I think you have to do it at least once. After that, I’d finance another car if it made financial sense.
Even though I can build a car myself I still watch your channel cause you can either learn more from what other people do or figure out how to do things better yourself from watching what you do
Also..that drive to get the car outside ones budget is what fuels us to get better financially and with our DIY skills...financing could weaken that drive...that may be one downside
Not a bad idea. One should have good credit, or know their credit score, before financing anything. After that, one should create/have a budget for, and to repay, the loan.
