Reasons why I always carry a large can of “bear spray” in 10mm. So at the very least the critter will have to work for its meal. I accept the risk of being turned into lion scat, I’m just not gonna give it away. ;-) happy carrying Brigham.

So I had an encounter with a mtn lion in Cheeseman Canyon this past Spring. About 25 yards away. Dragged a mule deer across and through the river. Craziest thing to ever happen to me. Best part was she dragged it to the one and only trail back to my car. Nerve racking!!

@@FlyFishFood I’ve heard enough foxes calling out at nite to relate that to the critter. However, cougars make a similar call but much more rapidly for a shorter duration. That particular cougar call would be used to call out for their cubs. Typically the recorded call on the video I would be almost 95 percent certain it was a red fox. The best way to solve this is let me agree with you since you make no friends by being right. “Of course it was a cougar”

Some people just encounter animals more than others, maybe some of y'all just have a stench that puts them off haha. I'm like Brig, I have a list going. My most recent interesting encounter was being attacked by a mink. I had to keep her at a distance by waving my fly rod in her face. Not sure why she was attacking me. Maybe had young and was just being protective, or maybe she was offended by my use of mink zonkers in some of my flies...🤔

The fox actually makes a totally different sound as you can hear in this video if you listen carefully. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jofNR_WkoCE.html Also, cougars are known for mimicking other animals and we asked some experts that said that it was very likely a cougar due to the deer being mangled in the trees.
